Thanks Jim & his crew! I came in to AAMCO with a car I had just bought to have the transmission repaired. I was a wreck over the whole thing but Jim was so kind and helped me out more than I ever could have imagined. He treated me with the respect a woman deserves when going for car repair. He kept me informed of everything that was happeneing as the repairs proceeded. I will definately recommend this location to... view more others and will be a lifelong customer. Thanks to Jim and his crew I am now back on the road! I was so pleased I even made them cookies to say thanks!!

DONT EVER GO HERE - If you get...
Very Poor Customer Service and poor quality service: I had my 1969 Ford F250 transmission and transfer case rebuilt in April 2012. To do this - they had to pull my transfer case, transmission, and jack shaft (input shaft - two u-joints). On a recent trip out to the lake pulling my boat, my jack shaft u-joint had a catastrophic failure, 124 miles from home. I had the truck towed back to AAMCO figuring this was a simp... view morele warranty fix as they had the shaft on their bench - inspected and reinstalled (it was clearly faulty when they put back in and/or improperly installed as it only lasted about 800 miles. The regional manager spoke with me and quite frankly has absolutely no customer service. He was unwilling to work with me at all. I already had a significant tow bill, and now was facing another $600 repair. I am now forced to tow the truck home and fix it myself. At least i know it will be installed correctly. I have since fixed that shotty installation, and now have had to have my transmission completely rebuilt. I took it to Tranmission Exchange in Portland, and they found that when my seals were replaced in my tranmission, they left out a few parts, which basically destroyed my bearings and transmission. I have gone back to the reginal Manager - Jim - who will accept absoutely no responsitibilty for this cleary shotty repair. Managers in this facility come and go and are sometimes pretty good - but at the end of the day they are at the mercy of the owner and regional manager - and they won`t help you one bit!! I will NEVER recommend this facility to anyone, - and will do my best to get the word out how abysmal their customer service is. I am now pursuring them through the BBB and if I can not come to resolution there - I will absolutley be taking them to Small claims court. UPDATE - It seems they know how to "play" the BBB game. After i provided proof (third party rebuild including letter from this facility indiciating that AAMCO was at fault), they offered me $500 to settle. Unfortunately, this doesnt come close to the over $3000 I am out becasue of thier shotty work. What they know is that the BBB will consider this a "good faith attempt" to settle the dispute, thereby bypassing any possibility of BBB arbitration. I will now have to pursue this in small claims court, which is just plain frustrating that i have to go to this effort for them to make this right. I am very confident I will win this case with all the information i have. I just wish they would have taken the high road and offered a reasonable settlement so we both didn`t have to waste the courts time with this case.

Great customer service by Jim ...
Great customer service by Jim and great mechanical service by another Jim. My transmission was acting up and I was certain it was going to cost me a couple grand to get it back on the road. What a shock it was when Jim in customer service told me it was a $50 fix. WOW !! What a great surprise and major relief. The initial check took less than half and hour and the fix about the same, plus everything else they check... view more. My truck is running and moving great and Aamco is now my go to place for any of my vehicles service and repairs. The two Jims are friendly, regular, competent guys and HONEST !

Money Saved and Job done right!
I took my 93 Lexus SC400 in for a drive line repair. I had been told elsewhere that the repair would be around $1600.00. AAMCO found a good used drive line for me and was able to repair for a lot less. The manager, Scott, was very courteous & honest. Repair was completed when they said it would be and my car drives excellent.

I had a great experience with AAMCO, they treated me great no complains at all they did a great job on my 2001 DODGE RAM 2500 TURBO DIESEL, its running like a brand new truck... even better then before, it was the 2nd transmission I put on and they all keep going out on me due to the fact that I do a lot of towing and after I decided to take it there never had any problems again, but if I do have any problems on the ... view more future I am not worried at all, because they provide a 10 YEARS WARANTEE ( AT NO EXTRA COST) all over the UNITED STATES... if you want your transmission to be strong and never have problems again take it to AAMCO recommended, thank you for your good job AAMCO

FRAUD!!!!!!!!!
3rd attempt to get them to be honest. Have 2 incidences where they billed us for work that was not done. Now $2,000 later, car still broken. I took to another mechanic that physically showed me the parts that were not replaced and where I was billed for them. Now their 3rd manager this year is in complete denial. They should be ashamed of taking advantage of disabled families, especially children. Unless you have tho... view moreusands of dollars to throw out, do not go there. I honestly think the revies on here are fake... Google them and you will see others with my same experience!!!

AAMCO was great!
Transmission repairs are costly and I learned that the hard way. I should of brought my 2001 VW Bug to AAMCO sooner. I know now if I had, the crew at AAMCo could of saved the life of my transmission and the cost of the repair would have been considerably less. I found AAMCO crew on 181 ST. and Division to friendly and they REALLY took the time to diagnose the problem. They kept in contact with me and explained t... view morehe needed repairs , the length of time for the repair work to be done, and the cost needed to get the car running well again. In closing, I wanted to personally thank AAMCO for giving me a ride home from SE Portland all the way to Vancouver WA. What service!!!

Aamco
Had a great experience with Aamco after driving around with a clunking transmission and increasing problems. The previous mechanic failed to solve the problem and made it worse. I got a call with a diagnosis within minutes after dropping off the car at Aamco. The repair was completed on time and within budget. Justin was very courteous and now I`m enjoying driving with no clunks and the check engine light off.

DO NOT GO HERE!!
I?ˆ™ve had nothing but problems and headaches regarding this shop. I took my car there because of a starting problem, and inquired about a tune up. I was told my starting problems were because I needed a new fuel filter and a tune up. I agreed to the work. I got a phone call saying they found some more stuff to fix. I said sure, go for it, TRUSTING these people. A week later I was back because of shoddy work, to return... view more a week later because of MORE shoddy work?ˆ¦and the original starting problem was NEVER fixed. Another week goes buy and I return yet again for them to fix the problem, only to be told there is no problem?ˆ¦it was loose battery terminal. Finally, I take it to a different mechanic, to be told I needed a new starter (which I originally told them was the problem). They have been of no help trying to resolve the dispute, when asked for my money back, they said no. When I filed a complaint with the BBB, they said I was a liar and they themselves LIED about the issues to save face. I?ˆ™m still fighting with them for my money back. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! UNLESS YOU HAVE UNLIMTED FUNDS AND DON?ˆ™T CARE ABOUT HOW MANY TIMES IT?ˆ™S GOING TO TAKE TO GET IT RIGHT. There are MANY mechanics in the Portland Metro area that are better, cheaper, honest and you?ˆ™d be better off dealing with. TONS OF COMPLAINTS ON FILE AT ATTORNEY GENERALS ABOUT THIS AAMCO LOCATION

What service should be like...
I broke down on a weekend and this was the only place that would answer the phone, after hours much less. That says a lot right there in knowing their concern for the customer. The gentleman I spoke with was very understanding and even helped arrange a rental for me! After having my superduty towed in I anxiously awaited that dreaded phone call Monday morning. Around 10am I answered my cell expecting a $3800 rebuild ... view moreestimate (knowing what I`ve heard about my trucks) and to my surprise I was quoted $45! WAIT, WHAT?! Yeah, turns out that after my run at Sand Lake I had some water caught up in the plug thingy where my wires go into the tranny. This guy at the shop would rather have a customer for life than a one time affair and that just what I am now, a customer for life. I mean I really would not have known better but now I know these guys are gonna be straight up with me. THAT`S PRICELESS!
