This is an excellent vehicle with an excellent body and interior. Power doors locks are slow to lock and unlock. Power windows and power seats work great. We have installed new brake lines and new tires. We actually had the factory radio rebuilt with new lights and new tape deck belt... stereo is great. New fog lights have been installed and work properly. We replaced ball joinst and U joints. 4x4 works great. Installed new timing chain, and new speedometer cable. Had hood painted and one side. One side of new wood panel replaced (Hood and one side of vehicle had sat in sun and faded). Shifts well and runs well. This is a dependable everyday driver. Vehicle has been serviced regularly and air conditioning/ heat works great. Part of the owner's original collection. The back glass operates up and down with key, but doesn't operate from inside switch. NO ZERO BIDDERS! Must have a rating of 5 or better. Dirt Every Day tries to find the best 4x4 for under $4k
Mon, 25 Aug 2014If you want to build a cheap truck that can still do dirty deeds off the beaten path, it's best to start with solid axles and a solid V8 engine. That sums up the lessons learned after watching the 2014 Cheap Truck Challenge from the Dirt Every Day video crew, who took to the deserts and surrounding areas near Reno, NV, in an attempt to find the best 4x4 for under $4,000. Fortunately for us, the whole sordid journey was captured on video.
This isn't the first time the boys from DED filmed a Cheap Truck Challenge, and this year's festivities pitted together a 1993 Chevy S10 pickup, a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 1975 International truck in a series of challenges ranging from donuts to drag races, with plenty of hill-climbing and rock-crawling action in between. We don't want to spoil all the fun, but suffice it to say one competitor was found to be lacking while the other two performed (mostly) well. See for yourself in the video above.
Maserati Levante crossover not Jeep based after all?
Thu, 20 Feb 2014Maserati has been teasing its crossover project since 2011, which is when it first showed off the Kubang concept (pictured above). Still, the production version, rumored to be called the Levante, remains a complete mystery. The CUV was first rumored to borrow the platform from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but new rumors indicate that the Italian, luxury crossover might actually take the underpinnings from the Quattroporte and Ghibli.
In a brief interview, Maserati CEO Harald Wester told CNN Money that the Levante wouldn't use Jeep's platform. Motor Trend spoke with an unnamed Maserati engineer who confirmed the rumor. Officially, the company says that no decision has been made.
We can add this to another long list of rumors about the Italian CUV. It was originally supposed to be built at Chrysler's Jefferson North assembly plant in Detroit. Then, plans were changed to build it in Italy.
