1969 Ford Thunderbird Base Hardtop 2-door 7.0l Tudor on 2040-cars
King George, Virginia, United States
We are selling our 69 Tudor Hardtop Body 65A with bucket seats, 429 Thunderjet, C6 Trans, 9" rear. All numbers match. Car needs restoration. Was painted off white from original (Z) dark blue. Interior is blue. Engine turns freely. Match key set for ignition, trunk and doors. Car is the only two door hard top I've seen. Car has a little rust but is a prime candidate for restoration. We have the original spare tire, jack stand, lug wrench. There is a dent in the driver side rear quarter panel that happen while the car was in storage. Call Doug at 540 604 four five two nine if you have additional questions before bidding.
On Jan-26-14 at 11:53:44 PST, seller added the following information: OK, getting a lot of interest this auction. Here's a little more information we know about this car. The car was owned by a gentlemen from NC who was a life long fire fighter and the only owner from we could find. The gentleman died of cancer and his wife donated the car to be auctioned to raise money for cancer research. While at the auction house a fork lift operator dented the rear drivers side quarter panel. The also dented the gas tank when the were moving the car. Our 15 year old son purchased the car and planned to restore it. He lost interest and move on to 4x4 trucks so the car has been sitting in a covered carport. The things I know for sure that will been do to make the car road worthy would be: gas tank, battery, belts, tune up, tires, brakes at a minimum. Having restored a few cars this is a prime candidate for a restoration. We have additional pictures of the interior if you'd like those send us your email and I'll get those out soonest possible. Hope this helps. On Jan-29-14 at 14:33:48 PST, seller added the following information: OK, thanks to all those who've bid on our car. Due to all the inquires we've taken additional pictures we can send if anyone would like. Just to recap, this is a restoration project... so, it is NOT road worthy and will need to be trailered home. Engine turns over but we have not started the car since our son bought it. Another note is if the auction doesn't reach the reserve than we will seriously consider the highest bid made. Good luck! |

Ford to build Explorer in Russia to meet demand [w/video]
Fri, 12 Apr 2013The current Ford Explorer is sold in more than 64 countries, and this three-row vehicle continues to grow in popularity worldwide. To keep up with demand, Ford began producing the Explorer at Ford Sollers Elabuga Assembly Plant in Tatarstan, Russia, a joint venture facility. This partnership will build Russian-market Explorers only, and production of export vehicles not destined for Russian buyers will continue to be built at Ford's assembly plant in Chicago.
Before this plant went online, Ford would ship Explorers to Russia (and other regions around the world) as partially assembled knock-down units where final assembly would eventually take place. While there is no indication as to how many Explorers Ford Sollers will build for Russia, Ford did add that exports of the SUV were up 65 percent last year (from 2011) accounting for more than 24,000 units.
Scroll down for a press release about the Russian Explorer as well as a video (bad music and all) showing the SUV being produced in Tatarstan.
Ford dinged by OSHA for asbestos at Buffalo plant
Sat, 20 Jul 2013Ford has come under fire from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for violations regarding asbestos exposure in a company metal stamping plant in Buffalo, NY. OSHA has cited Ford for eight violations in total, according to an Automotive News report, and faces fines of up to $41,800. 537 workers are employed at the stamping facility.
The violations include a pipefitter at the facility being exposed to asbestos-containing material while working on a steam line, other workers exposed to the material without respiratory protection and work areas that were not designed to limited the number of workers in contact with asbestos. Further, areas in which asbestos was present were not properly restricted, and levels of asbestos in the air were not monitored.
According to an unnamed Ford spokesperson in the AN report, the company feels that the OSHA citation is erroneous saying, "We have fully cooperated with the local OSHA officials and we don't believe the citations are warranted." Ford also maintains that it will work with the authorities to resolve the issue.
2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year entries announced
Wed, Jul 6 2016Over 40 vehicles will compete for the 2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year awards. If that name looks a little strange, it's because the competition added a third category. In years past, pickup trucks, crossovers, SUVs, commercial vans, and minivans competed for the same award. That's why there were occasionally weird comparisons, like last year's competition between the Volvo XC90 and Nissan Titan XD. The new format separates pickups and commercial vans into the truck contest and CUVs, SUVs, and minivans into the utility competition. A complete list of eligible vehicles is below, but here are a few highlights. For one, the entire list of entries has a luxurious lean. Of the 43 vehicles, nearly half of them are from premium brands. There are two eligible Bentleys – the Bentayga and Mulsanne – the Rolls-Royce Dawn, Jaguar F-Pace, Audi Q7, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-, E-, and S-Class Maybach. The performance ranks are lofty, too, with the Audi R8, Acura NSX, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Mercedes SL- and SLC-Class, Porsche 718, and F-150 Raptor. The mainstream entries are just as comprehensive. From the Chrysler Pacifica to the Chevrolet Cruze to the Fiat 124 Spider to the Mitsubishi Mirage, NACTOY has covered an enormous price range with this year's contestants. Of course, these are only the eligible vehicles. They'll need to run through three rounds of judging, starting in September at NACTOY's traditional Hell, MI, test drive. The Canadian and American journalists involved in the judging will announce this year's nine finalists – three in each category – on December 6.
