Restoration just completed on this beautiful, rust free, 1956 Dodge Lancer Custom Royal with the 315 CI Polly engine with a 4 BBL carburetor. The distributor has been converted to a Pertronics ignition system and the engine starts as soon as you touch the key. This car is basically shock except for the wheels and tires, and exhaust system. The odometer reads 43250 and I believe this may very well be the original mileage based on the condition of the interior. I have no documentation to confirm that. The front door and rear panels and dash appear to be original. Front and rear seats have been reupholstered in a beautiful Leather Like vinyl material. Carpet is new in a loop tweed charcoal color. The interior was done when I purchased the car. Not sure how long ago. All the instruments including the clock and AM radio work properly. ( the clock doesn't keep very good time though ) The steering wheel is in fantastic condition. I believe all the sheet metal is original to the car and had no rust of any kind before repainting. Floor and trunk pans are original with NO signs of repair or replacement. All front suspension and rear end parts were removed, sand blasted, repaired as necessary, painted and reinstalled on the car. The rear end has all new bearings and seals throughout. The engine, transmission and rear end perform perfectly with absolutely no issues. You could get in this car and go anywhere you wanted to with absolute confidence. It rides really good too. The car was originally White, Iridescent Charcoal, and Pink. The top was not repainted and I believe it is the original paint. The Iridescent Charcoal was repainted the same color and the Pink was painted a 57 Chevy Dawn Pearl color with drastically improved results. The paint is a color coat / clear coat application wet sanded and buffed to a brilliant shine. All of the frame and under side of car was thoroughly cleaned and painted with Bill Hiersh chassis black. All the chrome has been redone. This is a very solid car and you would look a long time to find one in this condition. It's not a #1 car but it's better than a #2. I will be willing to install any other tire and wheel package you would prefer up to $1600 if you don't like the wheels and tires on it now. ( I keep the ones on it now of course) Any cost above $1600 would be your responsibility. I can supply more pictures on request. If you have any questions you can call me @ 804-314-7599 Jerry There is NO Warranty so I encourage inspections if you like. I have this car for sale locally and reserve the wright to end the auction at any time. On Sep-20-14 at 17:06:57 PDT, seller added the following information: 57 Chevy color is Dusk Pearl not Dawn Pearl. |

Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars
Tue, Mar 10 2015Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Release the hounds. – Greg Migliore Senior Editor Ford Flex I drove my first Flex in 2009 when my mother let me borrow hers for the summer while I was away at college. The incredibly spacious interior made moving twice that summer a breeze, and the 200-mile trips up north were quite comfortable.
2014 Dodge Durango teaser reveals new 'racetrack' taillights
Fri, 22 Mar 2013Not wanting to let Jeep get all of the SUV attention for the 2014 model year, Dodge is unveiling a refreshed version of its Durango at the New York Auto Show. Teased in this image, all we can really tell about the 2014 Dodge Durango is that it will be getting Dodge's "racetrack" taillights similar to the Charger and Dart.
The chrome or painted strip currently between the Durango's Zorro taillamps have been removed to allow for a full-width LED array with "DODGE" lettering displayed more prominently above the license plate pocket. Parent company Chrysler also promises that the updated Durango will add "several new class-exclusive features," but stops short of saying what those are. Earlier reports suggest that among the changes, buyers will be able to look forward to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, which ought to improve the three-row SUV's fuel efficiency.
MotorWeek proves '90s were awesome with Supra, Stealth, RX-7, Corvette, 968, 300ZX comparo
Thu, 24 Jul 2014Oh, the heady days of 1993, back when the Clinton Presidency was just getting underway, and it seemed like every hot new rock band was coming out of Seattle. Sports cars in the US had finally shaken off the shackles that slowed them during the '70s and '80s, and you could buy any number of legitimately quick vehicles again. MotorWeek recently went digging into its archives to find this six-model test from 1993 showing off some of the best semi-affordable performance coupes that money could buy at the time, and it's priceless.
Featuring the 1994 model year Toyota Supra in twin-turbo guise and MY 1993 versions of the Porsche 968, Nissan 300ZX TT, Mazda RX-7, Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo and Chevrolet Corvette LT-1, MotorWeek definitely covered all of the bases. One thing that might surprise younger readers is these cars' performance. The video only provides 0-60 acceleration times, but several of these vehicles would still be considered pretty potent today - over 20 years since going on sale. The Supra is especially impressive, hitting 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds. Even today, that's nothing to sneeze at.
Given their performance potential and still-attractive looks, it's amazing that some of these coupes are old enough to drink now. The progress of interior design and safety equipment in the intervening years is pretty shocking, though. In most of these models, having two airbags is touted as a big deal. Scroll down to watch a Throwback Thursday blast from the past about some of the '90s best sports cars.
