ATTENTION!, ATTENTION! I NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHY PEOPLE WHO LIST VEHICLES HERE HAD TO BE SO OVERLY SPECIFIC ON COVERING THEMSELVES IN THE ADDS. THIS ADD TRUMPS OR OVERIDES ANY VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS ON PHONE OR E-MAIL. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COME AND VEIW MY TRUCK AND SPEND AS MUCH TIME WITH IT AS YOU WOULD LIKE. THIS IS MY LISTING, AND I WILL TRY TO BE AS THOROUGH AS POSSABLE. THIS IS A USED 1963 CHEVROLET TRUCK THAT HAS ( WHAT I AM PRETTY SURE )THE ORIGINAL 283 V-8 AND POWERGLIDE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. ALL NUMBERS SUPPORT THEM BEING THE ORIGINAL WHEN THIS TRUCK ROLLED DOWN THE ASSEMBLY LINEWHEN NEW. I BELEIVE THIS TO BE THE ORIGINAL ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION THAT CAME WITH THIS TRUCK WHEN PRODUCED NEW, PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS AND I CAN LOOK AT ANY NUMBERS THAT YOU DIRECT ME TO. THIS TRUCK HAD BEEN STORED AWAY SINCE 1984 AND I ENDED UP WITH IT A YEAR AGO. (SEE 2 PICTURES BEFORE RECONDITIONING) THIS TRUCK WAS EXTREMELY SOLID WHEN I GOT IT, HOWEVER I HAD MY EMPLOYEES DO A NICE "DRIVER QUALITY" RECONDITIONING INCLUDING BODY AND PAINT. I WILL NOT USE THE WORD "RESTORATION" BECAUSE THIS IS SUBJECTIVE AND I DONT WANT ANYBODY TO MIS-INTERPRET THIS ADD. THE PAINT JOB LOOKS BETTER THEN 85% OF WHAT IS OUT THERE, BUT IT IS NOT PERFECT. SAME WITH THE BODY WORK. THE TRUCK LOOKS BEAUTIFUL FROM 5-10 FEET AWAY. IF YOU LOOK AT IT SUPER CLOSE, YOU WILL SEE SOME IMPERFECTIONS. THE CLEAR COAT HAS NOT BEEN WET SANDED AND BUFFED. THE BODY WORK WAS NOT DONE OR INTENDED TO BE DONE AS IF IT WAS A 67 VETTE. WITH THAT SAID I WILL EXPLAIN ALL OF THE ITEMS I REPLACED. THE 283 ENGINE HAS BEEN GONE THROUGH PRETTY COMPLETELY WITH NEW PISTONS, RINGS,CAM,LIFTERS,OIL PUMP,ALL GASKETS AND SEALS,CAP ROTOR POINTS AND CONDENSOR. NO MACHINE WORK WAS DONE TO THE BLOCK OR HEADS. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN UP AND DOWN MY ROAD. THE ENGINE HAS NOT REALLY BEEN THROUGH ANY TYPE OF BRAKE IN YET. THE POWERGLIDE TRANSMISSION HAS HAD A FILTER, GASKET, AND FRESH FLUID INSTALLED. THE ALTERNATOR,WATER PUMP,BELTS ARE ALL NEW. THE CARBURATOR HAS HAD A KIT INSTALLED BUT WILL NEED SOME ADJUSTMENTSAND TUNING. AS FAR AS THE BRAKE SYSTEM, THE SHOES, WHEEL CYLINDERS, MASTER CYLINDER AND FRONT BRAKE HOSES ARE ALL NEW. THE SHOCKS ARE ALL NEW.AS FAR AS THE WHEELS AND TIRES, THEY WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE BUMPERS ARE IN FAIR TO GOOD CONDITION WITH NO RUST HOLES IN THEM. THERE IS SOME RANDOM SURFACE RUST ON THEM. THEY ARE DEFINATELY VERY USABLE BUT NOT PERFECT .THE FRONT GRILLE LOOKS VERY NICE BUT HAS A THUMB SIZE DING IN IT. ONE WOULD PROBABLY CONSIDER REPLACING THE MUFFLER ON THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE RUBBER SEALS AROUND THE FRONT AND REAR GLASS ARE NEW. THE DOOR OPENING JAMBS HAVE NEW SEALS AS WELL. THE BENCH SEAT WILL NEED TO BE RECOVERED, AS FAR AS THE INTERIOR OF THE CAB, IT HAS A NEW RUBBER "CARPET" ON THE FLOOR. THE DOOR PANELS HAVE BEEN REPAINTED BUT NOTHING ELSE INSIDE THE CAB HAS BEEN RECONDITIONED. IT HOLDS ITS ORIGINAL "PATINA". THE BED HAS NOT BEEN REASSEMBLED BUT I DO HAVE THE ORIGINAL METAL STRIPS THAT WOULD GO BETWEEN THE OAK RAILS, IF THAT IS THE TYPE OF BED YOU WOULD WANT TO RE-INSTALL. THIS TRUCK IS BEING OFFERED FOR SALE LOCALLY SO I DO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE AUCTION EARLY. I HAVE A VERY REALISTIC RESERVE THAT IS VERY OBTAINABLE IF YOU WANT A TRUCK LIKE THIS. JUST ADD UP THE WORK (EVEN IF YOU DID IT YOURSELF) AND THE COST OF PARTS AND THE COST OF THE TRUCK BEFORE WORK. IT WOULD EXCEED MY RESERVE. I REQUIRE A $500 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT THROUGH PAY-PAL WITHIN 24 HRS OF AUCTIONS END. I REQUIRE CASH OR CERTIFIED CHECK, MONEY ORDER THAT HAS CLEARED BEFORE THE TRUCK LEAVING. PLEASE EVERYONE CHECK WITH YOUR WIVES AND BANKERS BEFORE PLACING A BID, BID TO OWN. PLEASE DO NOT BID JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE CURIOUS AS TO WHERE THE RESERVE IS. I ACTUALLY HAD A GUY TELL ME "I DID NOT THINK I WOULD HIT THE RESERVE AMOUNT, I DONT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY YOU" PLEASE CALL MIKE FOR ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE. 540 353-2269. I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER THEM AS THOROUGHLY AND HONESTLY AS I CAN. I ENCOURAGE YOU TO COME AND TAKE A LOOK AT THIS BEAUTIFUL TRUCK, I AM TYPICALLY AVAILABLE TO SHOW THE TRUCK MONDAY -FRIDAY FROM 9:00 AM TO 6:00 PM.

Race Recap: Rolex 24 at Daytona was fast and feisty
Mon, Jan 26 2015Let the record show that victory at the 2015 Rolex 24 at Daytona went to the No. 02 Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Target/Ford EcoBoost Riley DP driven by Verizon IndyCar drivers Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan and NASCAR drivers Jamie McMurray and Kyle Larson. The winner did 740 laps to cover 2,634.3 miles in 24 hours and 57.667 seconds. That's a statement to this year's pace in spite of 18 cautions, two more than last year: the Michael Shank Racing Ligier got pole with a time of 1:39.194, slower than last year's pole time of 1:38.270; however, the winning car last year only did 695 laps. The fight for top honors was shaved to a four-car battle over the first third of the event. The No. 02 Ganassi car took the lead on the first lap, swapping it well into the night with the No. 01 Ganassi car, the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP, and the defending champion No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP, all of them staying within about 20 seconds of one another. The Action Express car had a fuel connector come loose and lost three laps getting towed back to the pits to have it reattached, but was back in the lead 18 hours in. The No. 01 Ganassi car dropped out with recurring clutch problems 22 hours in, retiring not long after. A race-within-the-race is where the concluding action happened, a seven minute, 30-second dash from the end of the last caution to the checkered flag. During the penultimate pit stops with an hour to go, Dixon was in second place followed Jordan Taylor in the Wayne Taylor Racing DP into the pits but beat him out, taking the lead. The Action Express car was in third. In the last pit stops of the race, Dixon gained even more time, getting a four-second advantage over Taylor. Then a full-course caution came out twenty minutes before the finish when a Prototype Challenge car hit the wall and caught fire, bunching up the field. That closed the pits, but the Wayne Taylor Racing car had to pit during that yellow because of a miscalculation of driver time. No driver can be behind the wheel for more than four hours in a six-hour period but Jordan Taylor was going to go over, so he came in to swap out for brother Ricky. That cost the team any chance of second place, since they took an additional drive-through penalty for entering closed pits. When the track went green again, Sebastien Bourdais in the Action Express car stayed all over Dixon for the final five laps but couldn't get around him.
Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step
Thu, Feb 2 2017General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet. Chevy Sonic shreds like a skateboard
Tue, 19 Mar 2013Despite the fact that the 2013 Chevy Sonic is a fun, plucky little thing - especially in ever-so-slightly hotter RS guise - it is not, in fact, a skateboard. But don't tell that to rapper Theophilus London.
In General Motors' latest spot for the Chevrolet compact, London needs to make a quick run to the store for some milk. And even though, once again, the Sonic is not a skateboard, it ollies, pops and gets air because, you know, it's just so much fun to throw around.
If this video looks familiar to you, it's because this is the full ad that we first got a preview of in Chevy's longer, full-line spot, where the brand's "Find New Roads" tagline was introduced. Scroll down to see this dedicated Sonic spot, along with the older ad, and remember, the Sonic is still - still - not a skateboard.
