1993 Saab 900 Turbo convertible 5spd
The car is in fantastic condition. Solid car no rot problems. I have included pics of before i got it painted. I has lots of new parts including Steering rack, head gasket, tires, ball joints, slave cylinder, clutch. 9000 aero seats and wheels 2 brand new yokohama parada's on the front because i couldn't get the Goodyear F1 that were on the back(that are in good shape). New convertible top a couple years ago. Still in nice shape. Clarion cd with usb port. Infinity cabin speakers Red Box computer and 3.5 fuel pressure regulator. SaabRally differential cover Car cover New battery Last week. INCLUDED WITH THE CAR 10 pcs spg body kit and oem saab triple gauge pod with 3 gauges and a brand new front mount intercooler and piping a used 5spd transmission The trans was rebuilt about 3k miles ago. Recently the car started popping out of second on deceleration. I haven't looked that much into it. I think it is going to be a bad shift fork. It bucked hard enough to break a engine mount on the highway one day when a fitting blew out on the intake manifold. I have fixed the fitting and engine mount. But haven't gotten into 2nd gear issue. It still drives good as long as you hold it into second. Also the Air conditioning was removed a couple years ago, and there is a small exhaust leak. Bid, Win, Cruise it the rest of the summer and then tinker in the winter! Feel free to ask any questions. Car is sold as is where is. I can help with shipping. |

National Electric Vehicle stops Saab 9-3 production amidst financing woes
Tue, 20 May 2014It seems that quirky, Swedish automaker Saab might be on life support yet again. Its owner, National Electric Vehicle Sweden, has announced that it's reducing its workforce and temporarily halting production of the 9-3 due to financial problems. NEVS was only building six cars a day, anyway.
The company put out a press release admitting its economic woes, but it still appeared hopeful. NEVS claims it's developing "a new platform on the Phoenix architecture," and it has a frame agreement with an international automotive OEM. It didn't give any specific details about either one of these assertions though. According to The Wall Street Journal, NEVS needs the partnership to lower development costs in order to stay afloat. Saab spokesperson Mikael Ostlund told Autoblog in an email that the stop in production of the 9-3 in Trollhättan would last four weeks.
NEVS says it's in negotiation to sell a portion of the company to an automotive company. Its current monetary woes are caused by shareholder Qingbo Investment Company not financing the company as agreed. "We plan to have the results of the discussions at latest during June," said Ostlund.
Chunk of ice smashes man's windshield
Tue, Jan 5 2016Driving a car piled with snow isn't just lazy, it's dangerous. A driver on Interstate 495 South in Massachusetts learned that the hard way last week after a huge chunk of ice flew off the top of an SUV and onto his windshield. Jeffrey Cote's dashboard camera was running as he drove his Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon down the freeway in Haverhill, MA, Wednesday morning. He was following an SUV in the left hand lane. The SUV doesn't appear to have too much accumulation on it, but the owners clearly didn't remove the snow and ice from the very top of the vehicle. A large chunk of ice flew off the top of the SUV, spun through the air and shattered Cotes windshield. Cote's must be one of the cooler heads on Massachusetts' roads. He didn't swerve, or swear or even gasp. Despite being unable to see the road and covered in glass Cotes safely moved over to the right lanes and safely pulled off on to the shoulder after the accident. The ice not only totally destroyed Cote's windshield but damaged a wiper arm and his side mirror as well. "If I had braked harder, I could have avoided impact," Cotes wrote in the video description. "But it initially appeared the piece was going to fall in front of me." Cotes couldn't read the driver's license plate on the footage and told CBS Boston that he doesn't think the other driver even realizes what occurred. He told the news station he hopes the video reminds people to do the right thing and clear the snow off their cars. "Just a few seconds, just try to slam as much ice as possible off your roof," Cotes told CBS Boston. "Because, it could have gone a lot worse, and it could save someone's life if you do a better job cleaning," Cote said. News Source: CBS Boston Saab Driving Safety Videos snow winter driving cold
Motorweek looks back at 1983 Saab 900S
Tue, Aug 4 2015These days, Saab is a zombie marque. Technically, the brand is still shambling around under the ownership of National Electric Vehicle Sweden, and there are continued promises of an electric version of the 9-3. However, we all suspect that the company is never really coming back, at least not as the quirky Swedish brand of the past. That's what makes watching this latest Retro Review of John Davis and the Motorweek crew driving a non-turbo 1983 Saab 900S so special. This is a great chance to see Saab still alive and kicking. While not one of the more famous turbocharged examples, the naturally aspirated 900S is still a quintessential Saab in every other way. The reviewers definitely aren't sold on the looks though, and there are plenty of jokes at its expense. Although, only paying attention to the polarizing exterior styling makes missing the good handling and immense interior utility easy. Sadly, without the aid of forced induction, the 900 offers very lackadaisical acceleration. According to this clip, the sprint to 60 miles per hour is more of jog in a leisurely 12.2 seconds. At the brand's best, Saab provided the motoring world with an alternative. If you didn't want just another boxy sedan, the brand offered something like nothing else on the road. Plus, drivers found a well-tuned turbocharged engine that provided good performance for the day. It's a company worth remembering, despite the current state of things.
