1991 SAAB 900 SE TURBO CONVERTIBLE Runs Great! Looks Great! Drives Great!! Fast, comfortable, and safe! NO RESERVE!!! $.01 Start!!!
This is a true classic convertible. It's a survivor and shows. It has never been through a harsh Ohio winter since it's been stored in a heated garage every winter. Turbo works perfect!! I would not hesitate to drive this car cross country today!! Original radio and graphic equalizer work perfect. Power seats and power top work perfect as well. Even the clock works! THis car is virtually rust free with just a couple little spots on the inside bottom of drivers door. I took a ton of pics so please check them out. THe fuel sending unit was replaced 2 years ago and the gas gauge has been stuck at above empty since. If you know anything about Saabs they are really easy to pull out, probably just have to knock float free. The sending unit itself works perfectly! I just refill tank every 300 miles. The exhaust is super solid but one of the gaskets have begun to deteriorate which gives it a little noise but it's hardly noticable at all. There are a few dings and scratches on the car due to its age but presents very well. THe interior is in great shape as well. Underneath of the vehicle is super solid. This is a get in and go daily driver that you could drive for years and never lose value. May be a great restoration candidate in ten years, who knows? The top is original and needs some patching or replacing. It doesn't leak because of the inner liner so it's not an immediate thing. Look at pics. I will assist with shipping provided the buyer sets it all up. I will help with international shipping as well. If you win and want to pay entire price through PayPal please add 8% for all the fees. Otherwise cash or certified check. If you would like to view the vehicle, have questions, or need more pics, please contact me and I will assist. |

Junkyard Gem: 1986 Saab 900 Turbo
Fri, May 31 2019The Saab 900 sold well in Colorado, and owners of these cars tend to hang onto them for decades. For those reasons, I still find 900s while making my rounds of the self-service wrecking yards in the Denver region. The turbocharged models tended to fail more quickly than their naturally-aspirated counterparts, though, so the 900 Turbo can be tough to find today. Here's a 1986 that took its final tow-truck ride into a Denver yard a couple of months back. The 900 received a makeover for the 1987 model year, so today's Junkyard Gem comes from the final year of the 900 with the endearingly 1960s face derived from its 99 predecessor. Most of these cars didn't chug along for quite as many miles as their Volvo 240 countrymen, but that may be attributable more to the differences in driving style between Volvo and Saab owners. The word TURBO had magical connotations during the 1980s, and so most turbocharged cars of the era boasted big, obvious badging. Red car interiors were all the rage during the 1980s and 1990s. Try to imagine the vivid bordellitude of this upholstery before it faded beneath the blazing Colorado sun. Was it a runner when it arrived here? We'll never know. Born from jets, sure, though the original Saab jet was known as "the Flying Barrel" and wasn't especially graceful-looking. GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
Saab to hire 200 engineers, might build gas cars with Mahindra
Thu, 14 Jun 2012The brand formerly known as Saab is still intent on teaching The Little Engine That Could a few ticks about persistence. We say "formerly known" because it turns out that National Electric Vehicle Swedent (NEVS), the Sino-Japanese investment consortium that just bought the majority of Saab's assets, minus Saab Automobile Parts AB, may not actually own the rights to the Saab brand name. According to a report in Di.se via Saabs United, NEVS will need to negotiate with Scania and the Swedish aerospace and defense group, Saab AB, for the right to name its forthcoming electric car the Saab 9-3.
NEVS is hiring 200 engineers now to work on its electric car program, and reports are that it will hire more as it gets closer to the 2014 launch. It will be based on the current (read: ancient) 9-3, and we hope NEVS is succeeds in getting the naming rights, because the NEVS 9-3 just doesn't have the same ring. NEVS will likely target China as the model's main market.
However, it's rumors of their second negotiating ploy that we're really rooting for: to work with Mahinda & Mahindra, the Indian company once in the running for Saab's assets, develop a petrol-powered 9-3 on the next-generation Phoenix platform, based on Jason Castriota's design.
