Sonoma, California, United States
1979 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow IINicely Sorted, Reliable California Car......please be patient while the many photos load.....1979 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II for sale in Sonoma California. This has been my personal car and I have enjoyed it immensely. Very comfortable with new front leather, beautiful door panels, ice cold air conditioning and a modern stereo system installed where the original 8-track player was originally installed with bluetooth, iPod and external auxiliary input. All systems are in working order including lights, wipers, heating and air, gauges, etc. The exterior is best described as a "good 10-footer". There are some imperfections and wear in the paint along with a few touched up areas but I seem to be the only one who notices. Nice chrome, stainless trim and glass. Beautiful grille and Spirit of Ecstasy. Immaculate boot area. Regularly maintained with many items addressed over the last few thousand miles including rebuilt accumulators, starter, alternator, battery, fan clutch, re-charged air conditioning (with R134a conversion) and more. Starts; runs and drives smoothly with plenty of power and passes the stringent California smog check without issue. My mechanic says that the car will eventually need the rear shocks replaced but at the moment they seem fine. I am the owner of Left Coast Classics and this is my personal car. I can be reached directly at 707-332-8331. There are another 105 pictures in addition to what you see here as well as video so you can see and hear her run. Rolls-Royce Alpine Trial Centenary Collection celebrates century-old Austrian race
Tue, 23 Apr 2013Among the harvest of premieres at the Shanghai Motor Show was a special-edition Rolls-Royce Ghost to celebrate the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials. Four Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts entered the race a century ago, and in completing the 1,820-mile challenge flawlessly earned the sobriquet "The Best Car in the World." The new Ghosts commemorating the feat represent two firsts for the brand: Rolls-Royce has never created a bespoke homage to one of its own cars, and it has never released a car with a black grille.
Those two features, as well as blue paint and black wheels, are in tribute to James Radley's privateer entry in that 1913 race that drove alongside the three factory teams. Other special features include the coachline (pinstripe) that evokes the four cars from the 20th-century race, and inside, a color-matched headliner, a clock with the rally stages and times, and topographical inlays on the front fascia and rear picnic tables.
The 20-Ghost Club will be reenacting the event this year, the parade including Radley's 1913 car. It kicks off in Vienna, Austria on June 14. For the time being you can read the press release below and check out the high-res photos above.
BMW warns profits will fall, plans $13.6 billion in cost-cutting
Wed, Mar 20 2019FRANKFURT, Germany — BMW said Wednesday that profits in 2019 will be "well below" last year's, and it will cut 12 billion euros ($13.6 billion) in costs by the end of 2022 to offset spending on new technology. The company said profits would be eroded by higher raw materials prices, the costs of compliance with tougher emissions requirements and unfavorable shifts in currency exchange rates. The Munich-based automaker also faces increased uncertainty due to international trade conflicts that could lead to higher tariffs. "Depending on how conditions develop, our guidance may be subject to additional risks; in particular, the risk of a no-deal Brexit and ongoing developments in international trade policy," said Chief Financial Officer Nicolas Peter. The company forecast a profit margin of 6 to 8 percent for its automotive business, short of the long-term strategic target of 8 to 10 percent, which it said still "remains the ambition" for the company if given "a stable business environment." BMW said it had no plans for layoffs even as it outlined cost saving measures that include dropping half of its engine variants as it seeks to reduce product complexity. The BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce brands are to get a single sales division. Peter said that given the headwinds to earnings, "we began to introduce countermeasures at an early stage and have taken a number of far-reaching decisions." The company said the measures were needed "to offset the ongoing high level of upfront expenditure required to embrace the mobility of the future." Automakers around the world have faced heavy up-front costs for technology expected to change how people get from one place to another in the next decade. Those include electric cars and renting cars through smartphone apps. Yet the returns from such investments remain uncertain and auto companies face competition from tech firms such as Uber and Waymo. BMW made 7.2 billion euros ($8.2 billion) in net profit last year, down 17 percent from 2017, when it booked a gain of $1 billion from U.S. tax changes. The company faced headwinds from increased tariffs on vehicles exported to China from the United States. It also suffered from turmoil on the German auto market when companies faced bottlenecks getting cars certified for new emissions rules. BMW faces uncertainty from U.S.-China trade tensions that could result in new tariffs if talks do not result in an agreement. U.S.
Corniche Comeback: New Rolls-Royce coupe spotted testing
Wed, 25 Jul 2012It's been over a decade since Rolls-Royce last offered a Corniche, which was the company's name for its unibody coupe and convertible models since the early 1970s. But from the looks of what our photographers recently snapped in Munich, that drought may soon be over.
What they've spied is the 2014 Rolls-Royce Corniche coupe, a forthcoming model based on the Rolls-Royce Ghost. Never mind the fake door handles and rear doors on the test mules, the production Corniche will have just two suicide doors like its big brother the Phantom coupe.
Powertrain will probably be carried over from the Ghost sedan, meaning a 6.6-liter V12. We suspect that BMW will roll out its new Roller at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2013. Until then, our spies will keep their eyes open for more prototypes, including the oft-rumored convertible.
