Unbelievable 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo

One of the nicest driver 951's available in the country.

This is a rare unmolested Porsche 944 Turbo. It was removed covered from the corner of a garage in Columbus Ohio last year and has since undergone countless hours and thousands of dollars in mechanical and cosmetic restoration. It currently has just over 90k miles on it but it occasionally goes to shows and whatnot so it may rise. It has never been crashed and has its ORIGINAL paint.  It has had only 3 owners.

Ancillary systems on this car have been restored or rebuilt to the point that there isn't a single button, knob, dial or gauge that doesn't work properly. It has been converted to 134a (per the factory Porsche procedure) and the air conditioning blows ice cold. The cruise, sunroof, lights, heaters, blowers and bells all work perfectly. All maintenance type items such fluids and oils, timing belts, battery and water pump have been replaced in the last 2000 miles. It has the rare and desirable factory 5R limited slip 5 speed transaxle. The suspension is "Koni Yellow" and brand new.

The only modifications to this car are Autothority Stage 2 chips and a $3000 Billy Boat header back stainless exhaust system which makes the car sound fantastic. I have the factory Blaupunkt radio that works but the modern Parrot radio that is in there now has Bluetooth streaming and sounds much better.  No wiring was cut or damaged to install the Parrot, and it can come out in a few minutes for shows. I also have the original chips for the engine DME.

As a Porsche aficionado, perfectionist, club member and capable mechanic, I have personally restored and dealt with every major and minor issue with this car myself. Things that "go wrong" with 944 turbos have been updated or restored to make them more reliable and/or function better while maintaining absolute faith to the factory original appearance and parts. To give you some idea of the level of restoration this car has undergone, I have receipts for more than $8000 spent on it in the last 5000 miles. The cleanliness of this car is shown in the pictures. It is not only clean on top, it is clean underneath and in the wheel wells. I keep it garaged and at a show level detail at all times.

This is the last of the truly original 951's out there and is your chance to buy a rapidly appreciating (per Haggerty price guide) but reliable and fast old Porsche.

Please see my feedback and HAPPY BIDDING!

Watch this Koenigsegg CCX hit 211 mph on a runway, outpacing McLaren's P1

Tue, 03 Jun 2014

Vmax200 in in England organizes events where those who care to show up with a supercar can run them down the two-mile runway at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground. Evo attended the latest event, bringing an impressively green Lamborghini Aventador to test its girth and gaping vents against other precious metals like the McLaren P1 and F1, Ferrari F12 Berlinetta and Enzo, a Porsche Carrera GT and enough 911 Turbos to start a dealership. Speaking of those Porsches, nine of the top ten slots in the top speed competition are claimed by modified 911 Turbos.
A monochrome Swede ruled them all, though, a black-and-white Koenigsegg CCX setting fire to the speed trap run after run, hitting 211 miles per hour at its quickest. It was followed by, surprise, a 911 GT2 modified by 9E that did 210 mph. You can watch the EVO video below, GT Spirit has a bigger breakdown of the day, and we've included another vid showing the tandem launch of the CCX and McLaren F1.

1986 Porsche 959 Prototype at Barrett-Jackson sees gavel fall at $440,000 [UPDATE: w/video]

Sat, 19 Jan 2013

Fans of Porsche in America have longed for the chance to buy a 959 ever since the German automaker produced and sold it (well, sold it everywhere but the United States...) in the 1980s. Well, they just had their chance. The car you see above is a Porsche 959 prototype built in 1986, and only one other running prototype still exists.
The 959 prototype can't be driven on public roads, as it carries no such certification. Somehow, we doubt that matters all that much to the new buyer - this one is probably going to be sitting in a collection. When the gavel finally fell, bidding had reached $400,000, plus a 10-percent buyer's fee.
Check out our high-res image gallery above to see this prototype up close, and scroll down below to watch a video of it crossing the auction block and for its official auction description.

1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS takes center stage with Petrolicious

Wed, 04 Jun 2014

Today, one of the most exciting track toys available is the Porsche 911 GT3. Its forbearer, though, was an altogether different beast that was every bit as exciting. Yes, we're talking about the old 911 Carrera RS that blessed the early 1970s. With a mere 1,580 cars built, meant specifically to satisfy the FIA's homologation requirements, the RS is one rare pre-Malaise era cars.
Complete with a 2.7-liter flat-six engine, this RS of Mark Haddawy is one of the earlier examples of the breed (later cars received a larger, 3.0-liter engine). Still, it can scamper to 60 miles per hour in a very respectable 5.6 seconds and will happily hit 150 mph in a straight line. Sporting Porsche's iconic duckbill rear spoiler, the equally iconic Fuchs wheels, as well as slew of options, as Haddawy points out, each of the nearly 1,600 RS models is its own unique iteration on the Porsche performance formula.
Take a look below for the latest video from the crew at Petrolicious.
