1978 Porsche 911 Sc on 2040-cars
Bowie, Maryland, United States
Please email me with any questions or requests for additional pics or something specific at: cicelycssorace@horticulturists.net . I've decided to sell one of the better cars out of my collection as I just don't have the time to exercise all of
them as much as I should. This is a 1978 911sc dressed up as a 1973 Carrera RS tribute car with a fully built
engine - Webb cams, twin plug, coils, all the goodies, with 46mm Italian Webers on top ... Smooth shifting 915 gear
box complete with Stomski Racing shift coupler - none of the typical maladies associated with older or worn 915
boxes ... Great clutch suspension and brakes ... 2360 lbs ... 295 bhp at the crank I have the dyno sheets ... Nice
interior with RS door panels cloth seats 930 steering wheel and some trick detail work ... RS duck tail deck lid in
glass along with RSR type front clip... Fuchs style 17" wheels with polished paddles ... Good targa top, usable but
not in excellent condition ... This is a great looking and very fast car ... It's loud though ... It's got cut
Flowmaster cans that border on being too loud for extensive street driving ... Your neighbors will like you less
than they do currently ... No dings or dents ... Paint is fresh base coat clear coat ... I didn't do a full glass
out re spray so there's some imperfections ... An hour or two tidying it up would be beneficial ...

2014 Porsche Cayman S
Thu, 29 Aug 2013Second Fiddle Moves To First Chair
In the interest of full disclosure and a bit of bloodletting, allow me to admit that while I've always coveted the Porsche Boxster and its hard-hatted Cayman cousin, I've never really warmed to them visually. They've always had a certain push-me, pull-you, can't-decide-which-way-they're-going aesthetic that I've never really wrapped my head around. Porsche achieved the same thing with the original 550 Spyder's overturned bathtub bodyshell that would come to inspire the Boxster, but somehow that classic's even more symmetrical nature works for me. Fast-forward to this third generation, and at least for this enthusiast, Porsche's manchild has well and truly come of age as a design.
It's all there - a piercing stare thanks to squircle headlamps inspired by the 918 Spyder hypercar, newfound directional thrust afforded by a longer wheelbase and elongated greenhouse, and muscular rear haunches with a wider stance emphasized by larger side ductwork and snubbed overhangs. The body's teardrop shape terminates with an active spoiler that integrates into a gorgeous arc with the taillamps like a budding ducktail nod to 1973 911 Carrera RS. Despite casting a longer shadow than its predecessor, the 2014 Cayman still looks tidily proportioned, smooth and wieldy, the perfect skipping stone to ricochet down a canyon river road.
2015 Porsche Cayman GTS
Thu, 29 May 2014The Porsche Boxster and Cayman will forever nip at the heels of their big brother, the 911 Carrera, and perpetuating this tradition are the latest GTS variants, which add yet another arrow to the quiver of the plucky mid-engined platform.
The GTS' performance enhancements boost horsepower by a mere 15 and shave a tenth from 0 to 60, but Porsche's clever product planners and engineers have stuck to their familiar formula in making the Cayman GTS more desirable than the Boxster for dyed-in-the-wool performance enthusiasts. More on that shortly.
Laps around Spain's Circuito Mallorca RennArena and the nearby Serra de Tramuntana mountain range would shed further light on how the GTS differentiates itself from lesser Caymans.
Modded budget Mazda Miata takes on new Porsche Boxster in more challenges
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Earlier this month, our friends across the pond at Auto Express released the first in a two-video series that would see them try and build up a second-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata that could best a standard Porsche Boxster around the track. While that first video detailed the mods to the MX-5 - a supercharger, some suspension upgrades and a new set of super-sticky rubber being chief among them - and set baseline lap times for the stock car, today, we have the results of the 5,000-pound ($8,200) upgrade job.
Of course, we aren't going to spoil those for you. You'll need to watch the full video, which recaps the upgrades before digging into a comparison of both straight-line-speed differences between the 2.7-liter Porsche Boxster and blown Miata, as well as their behavior and lap times on the track.
Take a look and let us know what you think in Comments.
