you are bidding on my 69 trans am clone. there is a ton to cover with this car so i'll try to get it all. first thing first I am possibly crazy but im selling at no reserve. I am however willing to accept offers as i do have the car for sale locally and I do reserve the right to end the auction at any given time. I have pictured what the car looked like when i first bought it all the way to current. heres the scoop on the car front to back and top to bottom. This car was a 400 car originally. Exterior: New paint, front and rear bumper, emblems, side marker lights and bezels, lights, door handles, mirrors, drip rail moldings, windsheild, back glass, tires, center caps, lug nuts. Engine & Transmission: The engine is a 1970 YD code 400 built by butler performance a few years ago and has around 3,000 miles on it currently. edelbrock performer intake and carb (750 cfm) hooker super comp ceramic coated headers, thrush h-pipe exhaust system. turbo 400 transmission wich is the original to the car. new motor mounts, transmission mount and power steering lines . hei distributor. this car has the biggest cam you can buy for a pontiac motor thus robbing vaccuum to the power brake booster. the starter really needs a heat sheild to protect it from the head of the headers. new belts and hoses. aluminum 3 row radiator to help keep it cool. also has a 160 degree thermostat. Rear end: is a 10 bolt safe-t-track posi rear end with a 3.55 gear ratio. correct rear end for a 69 trans am. Brakes: new rotors, calipers, hoses, steel lines, proportioning valve, dust sheilds, booster, master cylinder rear hose, shoes and drums. the steel lines are in the front only from the matster cylinder down. the main line to the rear is the original. New gas tank and sending unit. New: door & trunk weather stripping, seat backs (not installed) rear seat upholstery (not installed) ball joints, control arm bushings, front shocks, sway bar end links, front bearings, rag joint for the steering column, the rear shocks and leaf springs are original multi leaf springs. the car once had a camaro quarter put on the drivers side. that was replaced with a correct firebird quarter before paint. the hood is a steel hood and not a fiberglass hood. the interior is original and should be redone. otherwise decent passable driver quality. the floor boards have small holes in them which the previous owner patched over them rather than doing the work correctly. I have one full length floor pan for the passenger side but never bought the drivers side. I figured i would have them corrected when i had the interior redone. the dash lights and the gas gauge randomly stopped working a couple weeks ago. Havent had it looked at and not sure why so that should be addressed. this car is not a 100 point concourse frame off restoration but sure does present its self very well. the paint quality is about an 8 out of 10 and could really look super show with a little more wet sanding and buffing to really make it look glass. the car also has brand new front subframe bushings and bolts. anymore questions please do not hesitate. I wish i could keep the car but I am selling all of my projects as I just dont have the time to play with them anymore due to family size and sporting obligations. I get thumbs up no matter where i go and this car is guaranteed to draw attention in any crowd or car show. after all how many 69 trans am's do you see at car shows? Junkyard Gem: 1986 Pontiac Fiero GT
Wed, Nov 2 2022If you like affordable, mid-engined two-seaters, the 1980s were your decade. Fiat (and, a bit later, Bertone) offered the X1/9, Toyota sold MR2s, and even General Motors got into the act by creating the Fiero. Available from the 1984 through 1988 model years, the Pontiac Fiero showed plenty of promise but ended up being mostly disappointing, in some ways echoing the career of the Chevy Corvair of a couple of decades earlier. Today's Junkyard Gem is a once-spiffy 1986 Fiero GT, found in a self-service yard near Denver, Colorado. After a long and painful development period stretching all the way back to John DeLorean's XP-833 Banshee (which ended up being a major influence behind the original Opel GT), the Fiero finally debuted in 1983 as a 1984 model. The top-of-the-model-range GT appeared the following year. The Fiero was built as a notchback coupe and as a fastback, with all the GTs being the latter type. I couldn't get the engine lid open, but this car would have left the assembly line (in Pontiac, Michigan) with a 2.8-liter V6 rated at 140 horsepower. This car has a five-speed manual transmission, making it a credible rival for Toyota's MR2. The 1986 MR2 was less powerful than the Fiero GT (112 horsepower versus 140), but also scaled in significantly lighter (2,459 pounds against the Pontiac's 2,780 pounds). The MR2 also cost less, priced at $11,298 while the Fiero GT cost $12,875 (that's about $30,540 and $34,805, respectively, in inflation-adjusted 2022 dollars). Meanwhile, the $6,998 Honda Civic CRX two-seater lured away many potential Fiero buyers despite being a front-engined/front-wheel-drive car, and the $7,186 Ford EXP/Mercury LN7 also put a dent in Fiero sales. I can't find a price for the 1986 Bertone X1/9, but it cost a hard-to-believe $13,990 in 1984. GM still was using five-digit odometers in many vehicles by the middle 1980s, but this Fiero has a six-digit unit and thus we can see that it nearly achieved 150,000 miles during its driving career. The 1984-1987 Fiero suffered from a parts-bin suspension design, with the front suspension borrowed from the Chevrolet Chevette and the entire rear transaxle/suspension assembly lifted from the front end of the Chevrolet Citation. For the 1988 model year, GM finally spent the money to design an improved Fiero-specific suspension … and then promptly put a halt to production.
2020 Porsche 911 Speedster spied with an angry driver
Wed, Feb 13 2019Porsche gave us details and showed us a concept of the 911 Speedster at the Paris Motor Show. Today, we bring you spy shots of what appears to be the production version of that concept with a few changes on board. They're rather minimal modifications, but the Speedster's driver appears especially angry with our spy photographer as he extends his middle finger directly toward the camera. Sorry, not sorry, Mr. Test Driver. Public testing of pre-production cars always comes with photo risks, and Porsches tend to attract more attention than others. You'll notice what appears to be a Cayenne Coupe prototype we've previously spotted running around with the 911. The Speedster Concept we saw in Paris had epic retro mirrors and fuel cap on the front hood, but both those design touches are absent from this pre-production car. It's tougher to see, but we lost the vents in between the two humps, as well. Everything else appears to have made it to production-spec. We can't say we're surprised these concept car features probably won't show up on the production car, but it is a tad deflating. You'll notice the Speedster is based-off the 991.2 generation of 911 and not the new 992. Porsche did a similar thing when the 997 generation was coming to an end with a Speedster model paying tribute to that car's life. The chassis is said to utilize parts from the 911 GT3, and the wonderful naturally aspirated flat-six engine gets carried over from that car, too. Porsche didn't specify if power will be exactly the same as the GT3, but we'll be expecting about 500 horsepower and a 9,000 rpm redline. We were told the six-speed manual would be offered on the Speedster in Paris, too. Let's just say that we strongly approve of that combination. Production will be limited to only 1,948 cars and begin in the first half of this year. We'll expect a reveal with a full spec breakdown soon, possibly for the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, The General can still deliver plenty of thrills. The 1980s, though, saw the brand go even crazier with performance. While the Camaro and Corvette were still around back in the day, GM had a number of other interesting performance offerings. The Bowtie was complemented by the long-deceased Monte Carlo SS, while the now-defunct Pontiac and Oldsmobile offered the Grand Prix and thumping 442, respectively. And Buick, which isn't short on performance with its Regal GS and Verano Turbo, offered a much more serious vehicle, in the form of the Grand National (not to mention the Darth Vader-spec GNX).
