For sale is my well used 1984 300D wagon. The exact mileage is NOT known. When I bought it the odometer was broken at 270,000 miles. I'm guessing anywhere from 350-400,000 would be fair. Now that we have that out of the way we can get on to the description.
THE GOOD: I gave the vehicle a complete tune-up in Feb of 2012 when I purchased it. Including; water pump, all coolant and heater hoses, coolant flush, drive belts, vacuum hard and soft lines, vacuum switched under hood, trans filter and fluid, rear diff mount, valve adjustment, glow plugs, rear brake pads, self leveling suspension fluid change and filter, headlight bezels, turbo exhaust down-pipe, motor mounts, trans mount. It also had the self-leveling rear struts and accumulators replaced within a year before buying it. The tires are about a year old with 80% tread. Fuel filter changes and oil changes were done every 3k miles using Delo 400 LE in the summer and Delo synthetic in the winter. THE INJECTOR NOZZLES HAVE BEEN UPGRADED TO MONARCH UNITS THAT RUN MUCH SMOOTHER AND QUIETER. The sunroof is also manual so no electric mechanism to break. It's also NOT a Northern road salt car which is nice. THE BAD: It's 30 years old and high mileage. The interior is a bit tired. NO cruise control and NO working AC. The front end could use some new bushings. The left front fender was replaced by previous owner and primered black. The drivers side doors were hit at some point. I pushed the dents out after I got it to make it look better. IT LEAKS OIL, again it is 30 years old with a ton of miles. Radio does not work, WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED, NEEDS 3 GLOW PLUGS, NEEDS CRANK CASE VENT HOSE. EXTRAS: The car comes with a huge box full of extra parts I've accumulated since over the past year. Including; tie rod end, drive shaft center support, plenty of oil and fuel filters, tons of vacuum hard line, extra vacuum switches, window regulator repair kit, transmission vacuum solenoid, and other things like that. THIS VEHICLE IS SOLD AS-IS. IT RUNS AND DRIVES AND WAS MY DAILY DRIVER FOR OVER A YEAR WITH MANY LONG ROAD-TRIPS UNDER ITS BELT. I AM ONLY SELLING IT BECAUSE I BOUGHT A NEW MORE PRACTICAL CAR. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN W123 CHASSIS MERCEDES THEN I DON'T NEED TO GIVE YOU THE "OLD CAR" SPEECH. IF YOU ARE EXPECTING AN IMMACULATE RESTORED CAR THEN THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. LIKE WISE IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A SOLID EXAMPLE OF A 300TD FOR A DRIVER OR PROJECT THEN THIS IS FOR YOU. |

Mercedes-Benz previews its curvy sports-car and design future
Fri, Jan 27 2017Suggesting creases are passe for automotive design, Mercedes showed off ideas for its future styling directions this week at a forum in Germany, including previews of upcoming sports cars and sedans. We see images of a curvy sports car study (the silver car) with huge wheel arches flared out almost like pontoons. There's also what appears to be a rear-engine hypercar (white car); we've been reading reports about it for months. Additionally, there's a red sporty saloon, as Mercedes calls it, also among the photos. It features prominent rounded fenders and a bold horizontal grille. Mercedes also previewed its upcoming A-Class, in what it calls the Aesthetics A sculpture, which looks like a car covered in a red sheet. Though Mercedes says this is its next step to a purer design, creases and strong lines are still evident on the sides. Related Video:
Daimler employees can set email to auto-delete during vacation
Mon, 18 Aug 2014The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation.
About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic.
Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication. How could a lifted Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG be more awesome? Add an axle
Fri, 01 Mar 2013We are fully confident in saying that this will be the most amazing thing you see all day. First of all, it's a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen - in AMG spec, no less. And it's being shown off in high-definition video glory, blasting through the desert, jumping over sand dunes, and generally being awesome. But here's the kicker: It has six wheels. Three axles. And they're all driven. Holy $%!#.
Under the hood is AMG's usual 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8, and total output is rated at 536 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. That's impressive and all, but do keep in mind that the G63 6x6 weighs in at 8,322 pounds or, you know, the weight of two E-Class sedans. Combine that with its 18 inches of ground clearance, 37-inch tires and five locking differentials and you've got a vehicle capable of, well, everything you've ever imagined or will ever imagine for the rest of your life.
But the goodness doesn't stop once you open the doors. Oh, no. This thing is fit for a king - or a sheik, more appropriately - with ultimately luxurious seating for four. The rear bench seat has been removed in favor of two bucket seats with a fixed console in the middle, and the rear seats have been moved back beyond the usual B pillar to allow for more legroom.
