Restored Cj8 Scrambler! 360 V8 With Cold Air Conditioning!! Perfect Driver on 2040-cars
Jefferson City, Missouri, United States
RESTORED IN 2007 USED IN AN AIRPORT HANGER AND ONLY 1776 MILES SINCE EXCELLENT STARTING AND RUNNING 360 V8 WITH EDELBROCK ALUMINUM INTAKE, CAM, AND 600 4 BARREL CARB! FULL DUAL EXHUAST WITH A GREAT SOUND! AND ICE COLD AIR CONDITION!!! YES ON A CJ!! Ok guys here's your chance to get an excellent driving, hard to find solid Scrambler at a great price. We are in the middle of a complete frame off nut and bolt restoration of our Renegade ($22,000 so far and not at the body shop yet) so the other has to go! Whoever buys this jeep will be very, very pleased. Not only is it super solid with all the hard work done, you can get in this truck, drive it daily or take it to the cruise night with the AC blowing and still roll smoke off the tires if you want!! Jeep was frame on restored in 2007 by a very wealthy local business man who used this jeep around his airplane hanger, if bad weather hit, this was used to get home. He is an avid car enthuasist so this Jeep with a big motor and all redone "his way" was the perfect choice. Since then it has only 1776 miles. The Odometer/speedo was changed at the time of the build. Started life as a 258 6 cylinder, 4 speed base truck. He added a completely rebuilt 360 from a Jeep J10 truck, rebuilt 4 speed transmission, new clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. The motor starts and runs perfect, added a Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake, 600 cfm 4 barrel carb, and aluminum 4 core radiator. Runs stock exhaust manifolds with full dual exhaust. Motor with the cam and piston combo and add-on's is good for 275-300 horse which is much better than the 190HP 6 cylinder. All gauges were new at that time and work as they should, and will run 65-70 down the highway with NO ISSUES!! ALL suspension was replaced, springs, busings, shocks, and steering parts, and even added a new steering box. Paint is super shinny, body has no rust to speak off, the tub and bed are fully rhinolined, seats are new Rugged Ridge, glass and top are excellent. In the last two weeks we wet sanded and buffed the entire truck, put a brand new factory two tone blue stripe kit on the truck, wet sanded and buffed the factory chrome wheels which are perfect, NO pitting, or curbing of any kind, added a 2 1/2 Rough country shackle lift kit, with all new bushings, 5 brand new Rough Country 32/11.50/15 M/T radial tires, changed all the fluids, new battery, and fully detailed the truck!! This is a nice truck!!! Will not last, and is ready to go for the summer!! Absolutely everything works and just passed Missouri state Inspection!! Think long think wrong on this truck!! Call Jasen to make a deal early becasue it will not last 7 days of the auction. 573-680-3097 ** 573-635-4002

Federal investigations about safety of rear-mounted gas tanks is nothing new
Sun, 09 Jun 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Chrysler are currently making waves in our daily news feeds due to a disagreement over the safety of a few million Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models. Specifically, NHTSA has asked Chrysler to recall the SUVs because of the location of their fuel tanks, but you may be interested to know that requests such as this are nothing new.
Besides the two Jeep models, NHTSA has launched investigations over the years in such models as the Ford Crown Victoria (and its police-car counterpart), GM pickups built between 1972 and 1987, and rather famously the Ford Pinto.
Understanding how automakers and NHTSA have dealt with fuel-tank-safety concerns in the past may offer a better understanding of how Chrysler and the government agency will settle their current dispute. Check out the complete article from The Detroit News here.
The fascinating history of the Popemobile
Tue, Sep 22 2015Pope Francis will be arriving today in the US for a variety of stops, including the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia, PA. While here, the Pontiff won't be riding in the usual Mercedes-Benz Popemobile, but instead will make a more American switch to a modified Jeep Wrangler, according to the Washington Post. It'll feature a protected front, top, and rear, but the sides will be open for His Holiness to see the throngs of people gathering for him. For hundreds of years, Popes were transported in horse-drawn carriages or sometimes carried in an enclosed chair by footmen, but His Holiness finally traded for some real horsepower in 1929. While his ride sometimes varied depending on the country being visited, a Mercedes-Benz was generally the common choice. However, the Pontiffs have ridden in everything from a modified GMC Sierra to a Ferrari Mondial over the past few decades. Pope Francis has definitely preferred more plebeian transportation, though, including a Renault 4 running on biofuel. A trip to South Korea even put him in a Kia Soul, and he opted for an Isuzu D-Max in the Philippines. The Post's whole list is quite a fun read, and it's fascinating to see how the Popemobiles evolve over time. Related Video:
Six 'shut up and take my money' cars
Tue, 11 Nov 2014Any time you see this iconic moment in pop culture - Shut up and take my money! - posted in response to a new car reveal, rumor for an upcoming model or even lip-service to a vehicle that should exist, you can bet there's some intrinsic good in the idea. Though depending on the person offering up the cash, that good could take the form of extraordinary form, functionality, weight savings, power, handling, etc. You get the idea.
In fact, when I first proposed this list, I reached out to the Autoblog staff to help me brainstorm. Here are some of the ideas they offered up that I ultimately didn't use: Jaguar XE Coupe, Pagani Huayra Roadster, Mercedes-Benz S-Class "parade car" (cabriolet), Morgan 3-Wheeler with Ducati V-twin, Ford Transit Connectamino (pickup), Mercedes CLA63 AMG, Ford Fusion 5.0, BMW i8 Spyder, Lexus RC-F Shooting Brake, Volvo XC90 Polestar. Oh, and things we collectively wanted to stick Dodge's Hellcat in were almost as numerous as models that Fiat Chrysler Automotive currently makes (though none quite so compelling as the Grand Cherokee you see above.)
Ultimately though, while I used a couple of ideas from my colleagues, the list of cars I'd shell out for unquestionably is very personal. Though it isn't complete, what follows is a selection of cars whose very existence would prompt me - or the trust-fund-baby versions of me - to utter without hesitation: "Shut up and take my money."
