NOTICE: I RECENTLY ENDED THIS ITEM DUE TO A LISTING ERROR! I stated that the remainder of the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty was "fully" transferrable. This is NOT completely accurate. The 10 year 100,000 mile portion is only valid for the ORIGINAL owner. I apologize! There are parts of Hyundai coverage that WILL transfer, including 7/70 corrosion warranty and 8/80 emissions. I am listing as "LIMITED WARRANTY." Before I get to the description the purchaser WILL receive... ***WASH & DETAIL!!! ***FULL TANK OF GAS!!! ***FRESH OIL CHANGE!!! ***REMAINDER OF SIRIUS XM SUBSCRIPTION!!! This vehicle has just passed the Virginia Safety Inspection (required yearly in VA)! I am offering my 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe for sale due to a recent job transfer. I will not need a second vehicle since I will not be commuting. I purchased the vehicle Brand New in March, 2011. Since I have put 61,500 HIGHWAY miles as a result of a 100 mile per day commute to and from work. (mileage will be minimally higher at time of sale). I have performed routine maintenance religiously. I completed oil changes on average every six (6) weeks for the entire life of the vehicle (3,000 mile intervals). The air filter and cabin air filters have been changed several times, including recently. The windshield wipers were replaced a few weeks ago. This Genesis Coupe is outfitted with a set of Goodyear Eagle Sport ALL SEASON tires with 4,000 miles on them. Again, I am selling my baby because I simply do not want the added expense of a second vehicle...fuel, insurance, taxes, etc. I am the original owner and I have ALL maintenance receipts. I am a non-smoker and somewhat of a neat freak. The cigarette lighter has NEVER been used. This has been my daily driver / commuter, thus leading to the 61,500 miles, but these are "good" miles. The engine is operated at high temperatures which is optimal for maintaining a clean fuel system. Not like stop-and-go traffic which is damaging. It also leads to minimal brake wear on the interstate as opposed to city streets. I am including a custom "Heat Shield" windshield sun screen with this sale as pictured. If you are in the market for a well-maintained, clean Genesis Coupe then look no further. I am motivated to sell, but not desperate. I will lower the reserve for SERIOUS buyer! Now comes the legal stuff. I, personally, am NOT offering any warranty, expressed or implied, other than the remaining Hyundai FACTORY warranty. The buyer is responsible for vehicle pick-up or shipping. I also require a deposit at the time of purchase which will either be refunded at the time of delivery or applied to the remaining balance at your discretion. However, the deposit will NOT be refunded if payment in full is NOT made in FULL within 7 days of the close of the auction (sale). Please have your finances arranged prior to buying. I will NOT assist with financing or accept anything less than the agreed upon sale price. Thank you for your understanding. Now, my name is Stacy A. Zimmerman. You can call me with ANY questions or concerns ANYTIME @ (540) 487-1313. My name is Stacy and I will do my very best to help you any way I can. The state inspection has been done here in Virginia for your piece of mind. I assure you this car is sound. The photos should attest to this. There are some minor chips and scratches, but nothing significant. There is one deep scratch near the bottom, front that I have documented. White, believe it or not, is cooler and does not show dirt like you would think. Thanks for looking and I hope to hand you both sets of keys soon. I do have all the original paperwork and manuals, including the window sticker. According to NADA, the trusted auto price guide used by auto dealers, the car is $16,600 retail. There is a $1275 deduction for mileage(20,000 miles per year) and a $750 deduction for manual transmission instead of automatic. That puts the car in the $14,600 range. It is in great shape w/ new tires, oil change on 2/20/14, safety inspection in January, and I'll throw in the rubber mats pictured in the ad. You're getting a great car with lots of extras. Make me an offer. Thanks. Stacy Z....

Judge reduces damages in fatal Hyundai crash to $81M

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

Hyundai no longer has to pay $248 million as part of a court ruling from a fatal accident in Montana that killed two cousins in a 2005 Tiburon. The judge hearing the appeal revised the amount down to a total of about $81 million. She upheld the original $8.1 million in actual damages but reduced the punitive damages to $73 million from the previous $240 million.
According to Bloomberg, the judge refused Hyundai's desire to reduce the amount even further. She said in her court order that the company showed "an indifference to or reckless disregard of the health and safety of the motoring public."
In the original case, the families' attorneys alleged that the cracking of a faulty steering knuckle caused the fatal accident. Hyundai argued that fireworks had been let off inside the vehicle, which caused the driver to swerve and crash. In a statement released after the ruling, the automaker claimed that evidence supporting its defense was barred from the trial. According to Bloomberg, had the original amount of damages been upheld, it would have been the sixth-highest amount awarded by a jury in the US this year.

2016 Hyundai Elantra spied uncovered

Fri, Aug 28 2015

The next-generation Hyundai Elantra has been speculated on and teased throughout this year. In March we got a leaked photo of a South Korean-market Elantra, the question being if this is was actually the new car and if we'd get in the US. Then we got officially sanctioned sketches of the exterior and the interior. Now Korean site Auto Tribune has leaked photos of the next Korean-market Avante, which is our Elantra, and they actually line up with the automaker sketches. According to Google Translate, the pictures were taken at a Hyundai factory in South Korea by a contractor. If this is the real deal, Fluidic Sculpture has given way to a grille that might want to at least send a "Thank You" note to Audi. Flanking that are smoother lines and a more subtle treatment of the front end, with sleek, pulled-back headlights decorated with a lengthy LED signature above boomerang inlets in the bumper. The sides have been flattened out, losing some of dimensionality of the current car to go more mature. The rear end looks similar to the current sedan, but wider, with long taillights featuring three LED elements. Inside, a three-spoke steering wheel veers toward the plain, and the current continuous waterfall center console gives way to a two-section instrument panel that has an eight-inch infotainment screen at the top, above HVAC controls. At the base there's an open cubby that doesn't look to have a cover, and the gear selector lever incline appears reduced. The overall impression is less engaging to the eye than now. Auto Tribune says a 1.6 liter GDI is under hood, which puts out 175 horsepower and 196 pound-feet of torque in the 2016 Tucson. We'll see the real car at the LA Auto Show later this year. Hyundai patenting speed bump detection

Thu, Jun 18 2015

Often patents are more about solving a small, annoying problem than really taking on the big issues. Take Hyundai's recent filing for a system to detect speed bumps, for example. Other than teens with a fresh license and ground-scraping supercar drivers, no one really sees spotting these traffic-slowing devices as the bane of their existence. However, the Korean automaker is out to make driving just a little more convenient for everyone with this tech. The Hyundai patent combines several pieces of currently available technology in a new way. GPS, a camera, and multiple sensors identify an oncoming speed bump, and they then measure its height, width, and curvature. With that info, the software calculates the appropriate speed to drive over the hump. If drivers are going too fast, then a warning message tells them to slow down. The patent is a straightforward solution to a problem that doesn't seem to really exist for many drivers. However, while Hyundai makes no mention of this in the documents, this tech could be extremely useful for applications in autonomous vehicles. All the system would need is the additional ability to slow itself automatically, and the driverless car could potentially handle a speed bump just as well as a human.
