I am a long time ford dealer mechanic, since the late 70's and a decade ago I decided to build a car, since at the dealer I had been rebuilding several customer fords from the 60's-70's and enjoyed doing this. this car was solid with no drivetrain and built this for myself. this car is kind of a 'what if' car if ford had built a low priced falcon muscle car in 1970. so with this idea this car with that in mind. loosely based with ford era parts bin parts used. 9 inch 3:50 gear rear axle from a early bronco was used, 11 inch drum brakes, moser axles to obtain a 4 1/2 5 bolt pattern as used on ford cars. shelby mustang style traction bars, lowered rear springs. front suspension totally rebuilt, lowered springs, granada disc brakes, maverick master cylinder, adjustable porportioning valve. 15x7 inch steel wheels(mopar). borgensen power steering was added to make it easy to drive without the troublesome sloppy power steering ram used on fords of this era. engine is a late 80s 5.0L h.o. roller cam engine and t-5 5 spd manual test motor collecting dust on a pallet, added a e-303 cam, p- heads, roller rockers, 600 cfm edelbrock, msd distributor, ford powertrain application headers(pricey), hydralic clutch system. electric fuel pump, battery in trunk. bumpers recromed, tailamp lenses new nos. I took everything apart on this car and refurbished, rebuilt, or replaced it from the heater case to all window regulators, door latches, insturment cluster, seats, wiper linkage, its all been rebuilt. you could drive this car anywhere its basically a new car. have taken several 200 mile trips and the car is great on the expressway.

Martini Mustang is a 'what if moment' gone right
Wed, 23 Oct 2013Feast your eyes on a masterpiece. This is Steve Strope's Ford Mustang in the classic fastback bodystyle, and as you'll notice, it sports the signature colors of Martini Racing, a livery that's as legendary as any Gulf Racing-styled car. But the red, white and blues of the Martini stripe down this Mustang's middle tell only a very small part of the story, in the latest video from Petrolicious.
What would you guess is under the hood? A 289-cubic-inch V8? Maybe a 302, or some absurd Ford crate engine? Maybe Strope went all Tokyo Drift - he's actually responsible for the "Hammer" Plymouth Satellite driven by Vin Diesel at the end of the movie - and found an RB26DETT to drop into the pony car? You'd be wrong on all counts.
This mad, mad man somehow finagled a Ford-Lotus engine from a 1966 Indianapolis 500 car into the Mustang's engine bay. Yes, a Mustang with an engine designed for a 160-mile-per-hour, open-wheel racecar. That's like someone in 40 years dropping McLaren's 2.4-liter V8 from the MP4-28 into a Scion FR-S. It'd just make a monster.
Detroit 3 small cars lay an egg in latest Consumer Reports reliability study
Tue, 28 Oct 2014Consumer Reports has released its Annual Auto Reliability Survey and the results are, in a word, interesting. While we already covered the score-damaging effects of infotainment systems, there's another big angle to the data that's getting some attention - the utterly dismal scores of the Detroit Three's small car offerings.
The turbocharged Dodge Dart and Chevrolet Cruze, as well as the Ford Fiesta were their respective brands' lowest-scoring models, a stat that's made worse by the fact that the American automakers finished 25th, 21st and 23rd, respectively.
That's not acceptable for The Detroit Free Press' auto critic, Mark Phelan, who has penned a scathing critique of the D3's small car reliability scores, arguing that GM, Ford and Chrysler are "out of excuses."
Ford adds third shift at F-150 plant to keep up with demand
Tue, 06 Aug 2013The signs have been very positive for Ford's F-Series line of pickup trucks as of late, and after 24 consecutive months of increasing sales of the best-selling F-150, the automaker has added a third production crew at its Kansas City Assembly Plant that includes 900 new hourly workers to meet demand for the truck. This the first step in Ford's plan to add 2,000 hourly jobs at the plant to help meet demand for its trucks and to begin production of the new Transit van, the automaker says.
Despite some tough new competition, sales of the F-Series are the strongest they've been since 2006, according to Ford. The automaker sold 60,449 F-Series in July, the best sales figure for the mid-summer month since 2006, which also represents a 23 percent increase compared to July 2012. From January to July 2013, sales were up 22 percent compared to the same period last year.
Ford has committed to creating 12,000 hourly jobs by 2015, and with the 900 new employees added to the assembly plant in Missouri, the company says it has completed 75 percent of its goal. Ford has also invested $1.1 billion to retool and expand the Kansas City Assembly Plant to ready it for Transit production. Take a look at the press release below for more job and F-Series sales information.
