This ULEV II ( Ultra-low Emissions Vehicle) car has several extra options with an original invoice at 50,285$$. It has a 4.4 liter 8-cylinder alloy angine with 311 hp, 4X40 watt amplifier/8 speakers, premium sound, heated front seats, dual zone climate control with an ice-cold AC, leather upholstery, power glass sunroof/moonroof, front fog lights, roll stability control, ABS, Geartronic 6-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift logic, manual mode and winter mode. I`m a third owner and have collected all service records since day one in addition to previous drivers collecting all original Volvo service centers records. The car drives and handles excellent with no hiccups,  squeaks, or other noticeable flaws. It runs excellent. This is the most powerful version of XC90 with an engine and transmission made in Japan, so the major components will last for a very long time. All the major components including battery, alternator, front struts, engine gaskets and seals were recently replaced (well, I`m a nerd and too meticulous about cars). Front tires are performance-oriented Michelin. Tires have about 70% of life left, which is plenty.

The car has a desirable color combination Sapphire black metallic interior with a black exterior. With an V8 engine produced by Yamaha you can`t go wrong especially given the Japanese-produced 6-speed Geartronic transmission. After I bought the car in Virginia and brought it to NYC, I installed a hitch in the back and front protective pads on bumper to protect the car. As a result the bumpers are in pristine condition. I only drove 5,000 miles a year, very little an finally decided that I don`t really need a car anymore. So here is a chance to acquire a very clean Volvo with lots of premium options in a fabulous condition. Please call me if you have any questions at 34728034O5. Val.

Volvo Pure Tension concept folds solar charging pavilion into trunk

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

Even by the 'anything-goes' standards of concept cars, this one is a head-spinner: the "Pure Tension" Volvo V60 Pavilion, commissioned by Volvo Italy and winner of the Pure Volvo Pavilion Design competition. The alien form seen hovering all over the rendered V60 is a pavilion, as in the kind erected for trade shows or outdoor events. Developed by Synthesis Design + Architecture, Buro Happold, and Fabric Images, the pavilion is a flexible mesh structure held in place by a carbon fiber rods.
What's more, the mesh is embedded with photovotaic cells so that the pavilion can absorb energy from the sun or indoor lighting, making it a portable charging station. It can power itself or the crossover, the V60 at the center of it all being a diesel hybrid that plugs straight into the pavilion. When it's time to go, the entire structure can be folded small enough to fit in the trunk of the car.
We're told it will be shown in September in Rome. Even if we never see this particular creation on the streets, it's comfortable proof that our future will eventually be wilder than we can imagine.

Volvo's oldest model earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award [w/video]

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

Volvo ought to be tooting its horn over this one. The XC90, an SUV that has essentially been on sale for over 10 years, just captured a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The TSP+ is a new title, reserved for cars that earn "Good" or "Acceptable" ratings on each IIHS crash test.
This is a difficult feat for a new car - Toyota's new Corolla infamously failed to net a Top Safety Pick+ earlier this year - largely because of the new small overlap front tests, which have left many automakers struggling. But Volvo, somehow, was able to conquer the tests with a car that predates the original iPhone by a few years. The XC90 earning a Top Safety Pick+ is like Betty White taking the gold in the decathlon. With Volvo in the midst of working on the XC90's replacement, we're curious to see just how well a more modern version does in crash testing. Take a look down below for the crash test video and a press release from IIHS.

New Volvo ad remembers the joy of rear-facing jump seats

Mon, 19 May 2014

With the rise in popularity of first the minivan and later the crossover as the default family vehicle, there have been about 20 years of children who have missed out on the joy of rear-facing jump seats in station wagons. It means kids today don't know the pleasure to be found in making faces or lewd gestures at other drivers while their parents can't see. Plus, they don't know the slightly nauseous feeling of watching the world pass by in reverse. However, a group of filmmakers look back with nostalgia at this increasingly uncommon automotive feature in a new ad for the 2015 Volvo V60.
As part of its sponsorship of the National Film Festival for Talented Youth, Volvo commissions a team each year to create an advertisement to be shown during the festival. This year's shows how the company's buyers have gone from riding in the back to driving the brand's cars. Scroll down to check out the charming ad, along with some wistful looks at classic Volvo wagons, before the jump seat is forgotten.
