It looks so much better in person; no amount of pictures can do this color justice! The interior is also very clean. There are just a couple minor items to note otherwise it is a beautiful SUV inside and out. There is some wear on the interior trim by the driver’s seat that was likely caused by from how the previous owner got in and out of the vehicle and the interior door panel on the driver’s side rear door has a small hole in it. Both of these things are really minor but we try to be as thorough as possible! If you’ve never driven an XC90 before you are in for a treat. It is a very enjoyable vehicle to drive that is easy to maneuver on tight roads or in small parking lots. This XC90 is also designed to be very versatile and makes great use of the interior space which makes it the perfect family vehicle! This XC90 has the 3RD row seat that gives you room for up to 7 people total and if you need more cargo room than people room you can simply fold the 3RD row down and it is out of the way. The middle row seat also has an integrated child booster seat which saves you from having to constantly switch booster seats between more than one vehicle. This XC90 has a ton of safety features including “BLIS” which is a Blind Spot Information System that tells you if a car or motorcycle is in your blind spot! It also has a number of airbags and stability control to avoid rollover accidents. You just don’t find many vehicles that are as safe and good looking as this XC90! Volvo shows inflatable child seat concept [w/video]
Mon, 14 Apr 2014Volvo is bringing its emphasis on safety and design to the littlest members of the family with its concept for an inflatable, rearward facing child safety seat. The design is meant to help traveling families by offering a lighter and less bulky alternative to traditional car seats.
The design is quite ingenious. The seat is covered in drop-stitched fabric, which fills with air to create the form of the seat. An electric motor in it allows inflation and deflation in less than 40 seconds, according to Volvo. It weighs less than 5 kilograms (11 pounds) and folds small enough when collapsed to fit into a bag. It even has a Bluetooth connection, so parents can begin expanding it remotely.
The inflatable seat in the brainchild of Lawrence Abele, Volvo's design manager at its Monitoring and Concept Center in Los Angeles, CA. "For many, travelling with young children is a challenge; any assistance to simplify the parents' life with young children is a great thing," he said in a statement released by Volvo. The chair remains a concept for now, and the automaker isn't saying whether it's going to put it into production, but it's a clever solution to a common problem. US could get Chinese Volvos soon, possibly Geely joint-venture subcompact?
Tue, 28 Jan 2014After a little more than three years since Volvo was acquired by China's Geely, it was only a matter of time before products from this marriage started to show up in the US. Although nothing seems to be written in stone, Automotive News is reporting that the US could be getting Chinese-made Volvos sooner rather than later.
In speaking with AN, Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson said that Chinese Volvos could be exported to the US "fairly quickly," and while there was no word on any specific models being considered, the article points out that the S60 (shown above) is already being produced locally in China at a Volvo plant. Another possibility is the next-gen V40, which has reportedly received plenty of support from US Volvo dealers. Regardless of which model it is, Samuelsson doesn't seem too worried about a "Made in China" car receiving a negative reaction by US consumers, pointing to all the other Chinese products sold here.
On a global scale, AN is also reporting that Geely is working on a new subcompact platform co-developed with Volvo to compete against cars like the Honda Fit, Ford Fiesta and VW Polo. There is no word as to whether or not this Geely-branded model would be coming to the US, but just last year, we heard that the Chinese automaker is looking to break into the US market by 2016.
Volvo considering offering V60 wagon in the US
Tue, 12 Mar 2013For the 2014 model year, the Volvo product line is shrinking to just five models in the United States: the S60, S80, XC60, XC70 and XC90. This comes following the death of the C30 hatchback and C70 convertible, which are being discontinued after the 2013 model year. The S40 sedan and V50 wagon were axed two years ago, as was the larger V70.
That may not be the case, however. According to Automotive News, Volvo is rethinking its decision to not sell the V60 wagon, pictured, in the United States. The automaker had originally decided to not offer the V60 in our market due to declining American wagon sales. A decision is expected to be made sometime in the next quarter, and if approved, sales of the V60 could begin in the US within the next year.
At the Geneva Motor Show last week, Volvo showed off refreshed versions of nearly every vehicle in its lineup. In the US, these will be the only changes coming to the Volvo brand over the next two years. The next big product launch in the States will be the all-new XC90 crossover, developed under new parent company Geely. The range-topping SUV will ride on the company's new flexible SPA platform, which will also underpin the next-generation versions of the S60, S80 and XC60.
