I have decided to sell my extremely nice, accident free 2004 Volvo V70R. The best part about this car is that I have already done all the big ticket maintenance items as you will see below. If you are looking at this ad, you know this is the rare 300hp Volvo with 4 piston Brembo brakes front/rear, incredibly comfortable sport seats and blue stitching throughout. I have owned it for a little over two years. It was my daily driver but I just purchased a 2003 BMW M5 to replace it.

I have kept the car in very nice shape. Paint is 9/10 and interior is 8.5/10. There are some minor dings and scratches here and there from age but it still has it's full gloss finish and all the paint is all original and very nice. 1 small ding above the gas door, 4 small marks in the rear bumper (pictured) and 2 small dings in the driver rear door. The main wear on the interior is the driver side bolster shown in the photos. The rear seat has some indentations and slight discoloring where there has been a carseat for my son but I think the leather will come back after it's been removed for a while.

It runs and drives wonderfully. The local Volvo dealer described it as the nicest and tightest VR they have worked on. I have done a whole lot of maintenance, most of which was done at Paul's Volvo in Richmond, VA and Mooer's Volvo in Midlothian, VA. I can provide receipts for the large ticket items. I have done regular oil changes with Mobil 1 syntec and I keep my cars very nice.

The car does have a few tasteful modifications. No engine or spring/shock suspension mods though.

The stereo has been upgraded and is absolutely spectacular. It is very clean and is hands down the best system I have heard. The speakers are all original as the VR came with 8" woofers in the front doors. I only added a Pioneer 7" touchscreen head unit with bluetooth, an Alpine digital mono amp with the single 12" JL Audio L7. A custom enclosure for the sub was made to fit the car and can easily be removed. The head unit panel was made to look OEM as well.

I added an IPD grill which I think cleans up the look. I still have the original grill which will come with the car. I also modified the headlights as I thought the output was terrible for HID. I custom fit Infinity projectors with Apollo shrouds. Not only did it improve the look of the car, but it greatly improved the output as well.

The only suspension alteration I made was to add a VIVA chassis brace. Anyone who has driven these cars will tell you of the annoying side hop over bumps on the highway. This drasically reduced that issue and can easily be removed if desired.

I also added new black floormats which keep it cleaner and in my opinion look better than the tan ones that were in there.

Please feel free to contact me for any questions or additional images in high res. I have shipped several cars and would be happy to assist in finding a reasonably priced transport company but the buyer is responsible for the costs. I welcome anyone who wants to come inspect and/or drive the car as well.

Since I have owned the car, I have replaced the following:

Timing belt @ 90k

Trans flush and fluid change @ 90k

front brake pads and rotors @ 100k

all 4 sway bar end links @ 85k

Alternator @ 115k

Inner/outer tie rods with boots and alignment @ 115k

All 4 tires @ 110k

Steering line @115k

ABS computer @ around 110k

Front 4c shocks @ 85k

Upper engine mount bushing @95k

Trans mount bushing @ 95k

There are a few small issues that do need attention and are as follows.

Chip in the windshield (pictured)

The front passenger side strut accelerometer broke and therefore the whole shock needs to be replaced. It rides and drives fine but cannot go into sport mode. Mooer's Volvo confirmed this is the issue and therefore, a check suspension error will come on.

Rear brakes only have about 3mm's left on the pads

Center console has the typical 04 problem with the finish showing age (pictured)

I will replace the shock and windshield at the buyer's expense if desired.

Here are some photos all of which were taken today on July 20th, 2014 @ 3pm.

Watch these Super Bowl car commercials [UPDATE]

Sat, Feb 2 2019

On Sunday, February 3, the New England Patriots take on the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 53 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Some will watch because of the storyline of the old-school dynasty facing off against the new-school wunderkinds, but a large chunk of people will solely be watching for the commercials. Lucky for those who slot into the latter category, many of the manufacturers release their super bowl ads ahead of time, or have simply opted to release the commercials only online. Scroll down to see what car companies have already shown their cards. Audi Audi goes the comedic route in its clip for the Big Game. It starts with a grandpa showing his grandson a gorgeous Audi e-tron GT tucked away in a garage before he's shaken awake. Turns out he was just choking on a cashew in his cubicle at his boring job. Dodge Dodge does what it knows: create enough smoke to punch more holes in the ozone layer. Set to "The Devil Went Down to Georgia (the Super Bowl is in Atlanta, get it!?), a Challenger SRT Hellcat widebody, Charger SRT Hellcat, and Durango SRT are seen ripping through a city, leaving a trail of rubber crumbs in their wakes. Genesis Genesis has not yet released a commercial prior to the Super Bowl, but it is the official luxury vehicle of the NFL. Because of this, Genesis is hosting a fan experience for 10 days before the game. It will showcase the brand's cars, offer games, and have photos opportunities and autograph days. Hyundai Jason Bateman alert! Hyundai is one of the few companies to hook a major celebrity for its advertisement, and the casting is perfect. Bateman plays a doorman who takes people to various terrible events in life, including root canals, the middle seat, and shopping for a car. The ad centers around Hyundai's Shopper Assurance, which is Hyundai's new method for car shopping. Jeep An old 1963 Jeep Gladiator finds its strength in the crusher and transforms into a a new 2020 Gladiator, with a firm declaration that the nameplate is officially back. Kia Through Kia's commercial, a young boy wonders out loud what it'd be like if the millions spent on Super Bowl commercials were used to help others.

Next-generation Volvo XC90 could wear the Embla nameplate

Fri, Jan 21 2022

Volvo's next-generation XC90 will have a lot of firsts on its resume. It will inaugurate an evolution of the modular SPA2 platform that underpins the current model, it will be available with a new suite of driver assistance features, and it will reportedly adopt the Embla name. Citing a trademark application filed in Europe in 2021, British magazine Autocar believes it has uncovered the big SUV's new name. While a trademark or a patent filing is never a guarantee that a feature, a name or a car is right around the corner, we know that Volvo plans to ditch its alphanumerical naming system in the near future to start giving its cars real names. "We're going to give cars a name as you give a newborn child," explained outgoing company boss Hakan Samuelsson. He also confirmed the next XC90's name will start with a vowel. Embla, your author just learned, is the first woman created by the gods according to Norse mythology. Its etymology is seemingly lost to history. It appears that Volvo wants to build on the Thor's Hammer lights and continue putting its Swedish heritage front and center. Viewed in that light, Embla is a relatively good choice. It's reasonably easy to pronounce, even for folks outside of Scandinavia, and it's original; it's likely not a name that you hear on a daily basis. It's also relatively soft — Volvo Yggdrasil Recharge arguably has less of a ring to it.  Unofficial morsels of information allow us to piece together a vague idea of what to expect from the Embla. We hear the SUV will be loosely related to the Concept Recharge design study (pictured) that Volvo introduced in November 2021. If that's accurate, it won't look anything like the model that's currently in showrooms. It will be longer, higher off the ground, and built on a much longer wheelbase. Details about the powertrain are conflicting: some sources say the Embla will be entirely electric, while others believe it will also be available as a hybrid. Volvo is expected to unveil the Embla before the end of 2022, and the crossover will arrive in showrooms as either a 2023 or a 2024 model. An earlier report claims that production will take place near Charleston, South Carolina, where the firm currently builds the S60 sedan. And, to complete the history lesson: the first man created by the gods in Norse mythology was named Ask.  Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Editors’ Picks July 2022 | Volvo XC60, 911 GT3 and a hot Hyundai

Tue, Aug 16 2022

This latest rendition of Editors’ Picks sees us recognize some enthusiast-focused vehicles on both sides of the price spectrum and a luxury SUV. The 911 GT3 was an easy shoo-in, but the Hyundai Elantra N is what surprised us the most. WeÂ’re sad to see the Veloster N bow out after this year, but at least the N model in its place is a worthy one. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in July that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2022 Volvo XC60 2022 Volvo XC60 Recharge View 36 Photos Quick take: The Volvo XC60 is one of our favorite luxury crossovers, and the PHEV option is a killer setup. We dig the interior design, and the exterior is attractively Swedish, too. Score: 7.5 What it competes with: Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Genesis GV70, Jaguar F-Pace, BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, Audi Q5, Lexus NX, Acura RDX, Volvo XC60, Lincoln Corsair, Infiniti QX50, Porsche Macan Pros: Great design, epic PHEV option, intriguing interior design options Cons: Tech can be cumbersome, big wheels lead to a stiff ride From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "When it comes to plug-in hybrids, there's no better compact crossover option than the XC60 Recharge. I really dig the extra-powerful electric motor and larger battery Volvo added this year. The interior wool option is my pick of the bunch, but I am a little disappointed that there aren't as many physical buttons throughout the interior as there were before." News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "Although it's got some age, the Volvo XC60 is still an excellent premium SUV. It's as handsome as ever with its clean, modern design inside and out, and feels genuinely luxurious. But what really sets the XC60 apart is its available plug-in hybrid powertrain. It's smooth and refined, and best of all, it's still great in electric mode.
