Rare 6 speed manual R model in excellent, well maintained condition. I have owned four R wagons and this is my favorite with a 6 M/T and color combination (dark metallic blue-looks black). Several upgrades and all maintenance has been done on this wagon:
- Elevate 3" stainless downpipe, high flow catalyst, resonator, muffler and custom tailpipe (perfect sound level, not loud but very sporty under boost)
- Elevate performance air intake
- IPD urethane lower transmission mount
- Elevate urethane upper engine mount
- Gates Kevlar racing timing belt
- Snabb short throw shifter
- TWM billet M1 Abrams weighted, adjustable height shifter
- IPD turbo boost gauge in custom vent mounting
- Elevate custom floor mats
- new tensioner bearings
- new serpentine belt
- NGK Iridium spark plugs
- Carbon Fiber Werks FRP front winglets
Everything works; transmission, clutch shifts perfectly, goes straight, no vibrations and stops perfectly, all fluids replaced (Mobil 1). No leaks, smoke, odor or unusual noises. AC, radio, CD player sunroof, power windows, locks work perfect. Interior treated with Leatherique and leather is very supple with normal wear on the driver bolsters. Dunlop Sport Signature tires on all four corners and approximately 75% remaining tread life (even wear). Body is exceptionally straight with a few scratches expected for a car of this age. Known issues - center console lid is floppy and shows wear, SRS Airbag warning message displayed as well as maintenance reminder. The airbag code is a past code (due to dash connector disconnected with key on) and both can be cleared by a Volvo dealer. Clear TN title, will pass all emissions state tests. Will help with arranging for shipping or pick up.

Sweden's Prince Carl Philip to race for Volvo in STCC
Tue, 04 Dec 2012Prince Carl Philip Bernadotte has it good. He is a member of the Swedish Royal Family, he dates a model and he has been voted by Forbes as one of the "20 Hottest Young Royals." If that were not enough, he is a fairly successful racecar driver. The latter has earned him a spot on the Volvo Polestar racing team for the Swedish Touring Car Championship. The prince will be piloting a race-spec S60 in the 2013 STCC campaign.
Starting in 2008, Prince Carl Philip began competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup, where he placed as high as 11th. In 2010, he finished first in the Porsche GT3 Endurance competition, and most recently, he placed fourth in the 2012 Swedish GT GTB.
As his motorsport career up to this point suggests, the prince is quite serious about racing and the STCC is the next step up. According to Prince Carl Philip, "There is no tougher championship in Sweden and at the same time as I have respect for it, it motivates me greatly." You can read more on Prince Carl Philip's upcoming campaign with Polestar in the press release below.

Volvo's oldest model earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award [w/video]
Thu, 07 Nov 2013Volvo ought to be tooting its horn over this one. The XC90, an SUV that has essentially been on sale for over 10 years, just captured a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The TSP+ is a new title, reserved for cars that earn "Good" or "Acceptable" ratings on each IIHS crash test.
This is a difficult feat for a new car - Toyota's new Corolla infamously failed to net a Top Safety Pick+ earlier this year - largely because of the new small overlap front tests, which have left many automakers struggling. But Volvo, somehow, was able to conquer the tests with a car that predates the original iPhone by a few years. The XC90 earning a Top Safety Pick+ is like Betty White taking the gold in the decathlon. With Volvo in the midst of working on the XC90's replacement, we're curious to see just how well a more modern version does in crash testing. Take a look down below for the crash test video and a press release from IIHS.
