I'm Chris McGraw and this is your Autoblog Minute. Tech of the Year is one of our favorite things here at Autoblog. It's a time when we get celebrate all the best tech from the industry we love most. In 2016 we're doing something a little different for Tech of the Year. We've separated our award into two categories. One award for best tech car, and a second award for best technology of the year. The nominees for best car in 2016 are: [00:01:30] the Tesla Model S, the Chevrolet Volt, and the BMW 7 series. The nominees for best tech in 2016 are: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Volkswagen's MiB II with AppConnect, Ford Sync 3, Audi's Virtual Cockpit, the Smart Cross Connect App, and Volvo Sensus. Volvo to complete concept car trilogy in Geneva

Volvo went through some doldrums around the same time it was bought by Geely, but it proved that it was back when it unveiled the P1800-inpsired Concept Coupe last August at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It followed up with the sleek Concept XC Coupe crossover (pictured above) in Detroit that echoed the next-generation XC90. Now, the Swede is readying one more concept to bring the trilogy to an end, and act as the centerpiece of its display at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
There are no images of the new concept yet, not even a teaser, but Volvo says that like the other two, it's designed by Thomas Ingenlath and shares common design elements. Since it has already imagined a future coupe and crossover, maybe the concept is a sedan. Volvo has confirmed that it rides on the modular Scalable Product Architecture platform that is being used on multiple future production models and uses its new Drive-E four-cylinder engine family.
The Concept Coupe and Concept XC Coupe will be on display with the new concept in Geneva so that visitors can get a complete idea of Volvo's future. Hopefully, the company has finally righted the course and is ready to compete on the world stage again. Scroll down to read Volvo's few details about the new concept.

Volvo to use Oz as test bed for more Polestar models?

We've already told you about the slightly more awesome version of the Volvo S60 that our friends Down Under can now get their hands on. And according to Aussie site Drive.com.au, Volvo may look to the land of Oz for future testing of new, Polestar-tuned, high-performance models.
Volvo has reportedly confirmed that this S60 Polestar run will be an exercise in testing the acceptance of the Swedish tuner's presence as a proper competitor for things like BMW's M division or Mercedes-Benz's AMG. (A tall order, for sure.) "The world is watching this exercise with much interest," Volvo Cars Australia boss, Matt Braid, told Drive.com.au.
Hans Baath, Polestar Managing Director, reportedly hinted that the tuning house had already begun work on a hotter version of the V40 hatchback, but the project was scrapped in order to get the S60 program rolling. If there's success to be found here, this smaller hot hatch could be revisited, as well as a more powerful version of the XC60 crossover.
