Thank you for viewing my 2005 stock 26-30 MPG 300HP AWD Volvo S60 R-Type with "Rear Park Assist" & Satelite radio.  This particular model sold for just over $47,000 new. R-Type's in this condition with (tan leather) are very rare. This "R-Type" is positively the cleanest, most comfortable, sporty, and powerful sport sedan I have ever owned! It is a smoke FREE vehicle.  This "R-Type has Xenon headlamps, and is truly as clean and straight as the pictures reveal. I know of no mechanical issues.  The S60 flaunts Volvo's famous Dolby ProLogic Surround Sound, with 6-disc changer, and sounds absolutely fantastic!!! This is my third Volvo and IT IS A TOTAL HEAD TURNER! The leather is in near PERFECT condition with the exception of a little stitching coming loose on the outside edge of the drivers seat (not even a wear issue, just a factory oops ) to which I have a photo of if needed. The inside of the car still smells like new as does the leather. It has Yokohama 235/40/R18 YK520 tires on it with half the tread life left. Volvo's 75,000 mile service work has been done including new cabin air filter, oil change, engine air filter and new Volvo spark-plugs. Everything on the car is original to Volvo including the battery, with no modifications to the engine in any way shape or form. The R-Type is Powered by a Newtonion Physics 5-cylinder intercooled engine with a Borg Warner Turbo and is rated 0-60 in 5.5secs. I am "AVERAGING" 23.5-25.2 MPG and 26-30MPG HWY and have pics of the dash as I'm driving showing both "instant" and "average" MPG for you to verify if interested. The S60 scored the top rating in the IIHS frontal offset test. I have the specifications to this model if you'd like them. The original owner was a lady outside of San Antonio TX.  The car has NEVER seen snow to my knowledge.  Vehicle comes with original owners manual and maintenance record book to follow for regularly scheduled maintenance.  I am selling it as I will be traveling with my job and will not be able to drive the car for extended periods.  Sell of vehicle is final. Buyer is responsible for delivery of vehicle.  At the close of auction I will accept a non refundable $500.00 cashiers check or deposit into my paypal account to hold the car for seven days.  I will accept the remaining balance in the form of a cashiers check.  Best of luck to all!!!

2015 Volvo XC90 is the Swedish future

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

It's been months since the Concept XC Coupe debuted at the Detroit Auto Show, Volvo's last show car previewing its all-new 2015 XC90. But the production model is finally here after years of development, and it signals the future of the Swedish automaker with its Scalable Product Architecture modular platform and cutting-edge new engine family.
The 2015 XC90 carries all-new styling, but is still familiar up front, with the company's logo slashing diagonally through its prominent, upright grille. Like the concept, it carries T-Shaped LED running lights through the headlights. The company calls them the "Thor's Hammer" design, an evocative designation that we think is fantastic. Under that new front end is a choice of two quite powerful, but very efficient powertrains. The standard XC90 gets a 2.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged engine with all-wheel drive making an impressive 316 horsepower. Or if buyers want to be a little greener and more powerful, there is the XC90 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid with the same engine, albeit augmented with an electric motor to produce a staggering 400 hp.
The exterior styling is crisp, if not quite as sensual as Volvo's latest concepts, but we think the interior is the real star here, with a dashboard that looks like it came out of a Herman Miller catalog and a unique vertically oriented infotainment screen integrated into its center stack, perhaps taking a cue from Tesla. If the cabin feels as good as it looks, we think a lot of sales are going to be won inside.

Volvo won't entirely give up on sedans and station wagons

Mon, Jan 10 2022

Volvo, like an overwhelming majority of its peers and rivals, sells more SUVs and crossovers than sedans and station wagons. It confirmed plans to pivot away from low-riding models in 2021, but it stressed that it's not ready to throw in the towel in either segment quite yet. "Yes, the [V and S lines] will be replaced with something even more attractive to customers," affirmed company boss Hakan Samuelsson in an interview with British magazine Autocar. His comments come as a relief for Volvo wagon fans around the world, given that in 2021 he had said that the company needs "to move [on] from wagons and sedans." There's a catch, though: Future V and S models will look quite different than today's. Samuelsson (who will step down from his position in March 2022) acknowledged that Volvo needs lower-riding cars but noted that their design will evolve and become "maybe a little less square." It's not just about style, either. "Cars will be less boxy in the future, when we need to have lower air resistance. You could call it coupe-ish. We talk a lot about range in electric cars, but I think we will start looking at energy efficiency, and of course air resistance will be very central to that," he said. It helps that sleeker designs help keep buyers interested in sedans. Volvo's S90 and V90 were introduced and 2015 and 2016, respectively, so they're expected to be replaced in the not-too-distant future. One point that's still up in the air is what they'll be called. The Swedish company is preparing to ditch its alphanumerical naming system in order to give its cars an actual name, so both nameplates will die with the current-generation models. We'll have a better idea of what the future has in store when the XC90's replacement arrives later in 2022 with a new name, a new architecture, and a large serving of new technology.
