Up for sale is my 2007 RDesign Volvo C70. I bought the car earlier this year from the original owner and fixed the problems and did some tasteful upgrades. Everything i replaced even the upgraded parts are OEM Volvo parts.

First off i replaced all four new Volvo wheel bearings. ($800 for all four) The weak link in the C70. I put new Volvo front rotors and pads. ($320) This car already had from the factory the biggest available rotors. 16.5" is what Volvo calls them. The rear brake pads have 6mm left. New is 8mm. I also did a complete tuneup on the car. Castro Synthetic oil change. Volvo spark plugs, Volvo air filter, Volvo cabin filter, and the newest available software updates for the car. (About $250)

Now after matenince was complete the fun stuff came. I found a almost brand new complete dark red interior from a 2012 C70 ($1600) and had to have it. Everything is the same from 2006-2013 besides the center console which i kept stock. There was no modifications necessary to make it work. All the seat functions work flawlessly.  There was nothing wrong with the original interior i just liked the look better. At that time i also got a RDesign instrument cluster from a 2010 S40 ($275) and modified my original cluster to make it work. The only thing i changed was the chrome trim around the mileage and trip computer and the blue face gage plate. All the electronics of the cluster are original so actual mileage and all functions are correct. I also added the RDesign Pedals ($95)and the trunk lip spoiler($340 painted). I also bought Four Brand new RDesign S60 Rims ($1900) and new tires. Nexen 245/45/18. ($600) Check the brand new 2014 cant even buy them if you wanted to Black center caps. I also added a OBX cat back 50 state legal exhaust. ($475) I couldn't hear the engine at all and kept stalling the car out and not knowing what gear i was in unless i looked at the rpm gauge. It is not lout at all and you can only really hear it full throttle over 3K. Just enough noise to remind you it is not an electric car. I only put on 3K miles on the car since i bought it so everything i have done has less than that.

Now on to the basics of the car. It was special ordered by the original owner from Sweden with a 6 Speed manual with navigation with Premium Dynaudio audio system with Sirius satellite radio with 6 CD with aux input. This will rival any sound system out there. I have heard professional aftermarket systems that don't sound as nice clear or loud. It also has the factory xenon headlight upgrade with headlight cleaners and heated front seats. It also came with the sport steering wheel and shift knob. The car is extremely well taken car of with only a couple slight marks and blemishes in the paint. there is one small door ding on each door. I was going to have my friend who owns a dent removal company take care of them but the day before he was going to come he got into a bad accident and is still recuperating. Both bumpers are flawless no blemishes. The rims are perfect not one scratch nick or bend. The interior is extremely nice to. All the cars electronics work 100%. All the mechanical bits of the car are perfect. No suspension noise no engine noise. The transmission shifts perfectly and the clutch engages smoothly. You can let go of the wheel down a straight road and go for miles without correction. The top works excellent and doesn't make any noise when closed or open. I also bought a few expensive accessories included with the car. the rear wind blocker is included. ($500) With that up and the windows up it is just as windy in the car as an open sunroof would be. A must for my wife who is always cold. I also bought all weather mats ($90) (carpet mats are also included) and the Ski bag ($300) for two pairs of skis through the trunk. The only reason i am selling this car is i want something rear wheel drive manual transmission and over 400 HP. If you have something to trade let me know. No bikes boats or other power equipment. I really want a F60 V10 M6 or M5. I am also interested in a 2005 + M3 or E39 M5. If you have something worth more than my car and i like it would be willing to pay you the reasonable difference. Or if you have something worth less that i want i would take the difference in cash. Please email me with any questions or offers.

Junkyard Gem: 1982 Volvo 244 DL

Sat, Jul 9 2022

Because it was sold in the United States for so many years — 19 model years, to be exact — and won the hearts of so many American drivers with its reliability and safety, sufficient examples of the Volvo 200 Series remain in service that they continue to show up in self-service car graveyards nearly 30 years after the last ones left the showroom. We saw a low-mile Richelieu Red 1983 Volvo 244 DL in a Denver-area yard last year, and now I've found a near-identical 1982 244 DL in another yard located between Denver and Cheyenne. Volvo went through several variations in the naming scheme for these cars between 1975 and 1993; during the first half of the 1980s, the 240 was badged using just the trim level. That makes this car a 1982 Volvo DL, the cheapest trim level available at the time. By now, though, everyone who knows old Volvos uses the three-number system of the 1970s, with the second digit indicating the number of engine cylinders and the third digit representing the number of doors. I'll be using the 244 designation here. This car came from the factory with a fuel-injected 2.1-liter SOHC straight-four rated at 112 horsepower. This car has the base four-on-the-floor manual transmission with an overdrive selected via the switch on the shift knob. If you wanted an automatic transmission, you had to pay an extra $325 (just over a thousand bucks in 2022 money). Later in the decade, a five-speed manual became available on the 240. Most 240s rack up better than 200,000 miles during their careers (and I've seen quite a few that made it past 300,000), but this car didn't reach that figure. This car still has its original AM/FM/cassette radio, which would have cost serious money in 1982. The MSRP on this car was $10,260, or about $31,800 in 2022 dollars. The two-door version went for $9,785 ($30,330 now). You could get a new 1982 Buick LeSabre Limited sedan for $9,331, and it was much roomier and more powerful than the VolvoÂ… but not as good in a crash. There's very little rust on this car, and the only serious body damage is this dented passenger-side door. The rodent nesting detritus under the hood and the lack of wear on the seat fabric suggests that it got parked for good a decade or three back. Perhaps it would have been rescued and revived in the rustier parts of the continent, but there's a glut of restorable 244s and a shortage of Volvo enthusiasts in the Denver area. Junkyard Gem: 1984 Volvo 242 DL

Sun, Aug 30 2020

Volvo had tremendous success with the iconic 200 Series cars, selling them in North America from the 1975 model year all the way through 1993 (and if you count the Volvo 140, which was the same car from the A pillars rearward, the 240's history goes back to the middle 1960s). Nearly everybody who bought 240s on our continent did so in order to be safe and/or practical, which meant that the two-door version never sold anywhere near as well as its four-door and wagon brethren. Here's one of those rare 240 coupes (technically speaking, a two-door sedan), found in a San Jose car graveyard last winter. If you're going to be a stickler about the designation of this car as a two-door sedan and not as a coupe, you'll also want to call it by the name Volvo used when it was in the showroom: the 1984 Volvo DL. However, everybody in the Volvo world now prefers the original naming system that Volvo used for the 200s back home in Sweden, where you had 2 followed by a numeral indicating the number of engine cylinders and a numeral indicating the number of doors, with the trim-level code after that. So, what we have for today's Junkyard Gem is a Volvo 242 DL, i.e., the cheapest new 240 Americans could buy in 1984. You could get a turbocharged engine from the factory in the 1984 242, but this car has the ordinary naturally-aspirated 2.3-liter straight-four, rated at 111 horsepower. It also has the four-speed manual transmission with overdrive controlled by the button in the middle of the shift knob. Nearly 230,000 miles on the clock, which is decent for any 1980s car but not spectacular by Volvo 240 standards. Many Volvo enthusiasts prefer the smooth lines of the coupe to the stodgier sedans and wagons, and this one shows signs of ownership by someone who wasn't just about listening to NPR while driving safely to the natural-foods store. Sure enough, it has aftermarket springs and a non-factory rear sway bar. I wish I'd found these parts back in 2007, when I was helping to build a V8-swapped Volvo 244 road racer. The presence of the keys in a junkyard car, however, usually indicates that it was voluntarily let go by its final owner. Perhaps it was a dealership trade-in that proved to be impossible to sell due to a combination of three pedals, high miles, and lack of truck-shaped body. The interior looks like it might have been tolerable before it reached this place.

Used Volvo V70 wagon for $20 million includes New York 'New York' vanity plate

Mon, Mar 22 2021

Billed as the world's most expensive Volvo wagon, a dark blue New York-based V70 is currently for sale for $20 million (and probably will be for some time). It's not the car that makes the sale special, though. It's the New York state vanity plate that reads "NEW YORK." Indeed, the ad lists a Volvo but it doesn't even mention the year, mileage or model, and in photos it's still wearing a fresh sheen of road salt. Custom plates are big business in some parts of the world. It also should be noted that the plates are of a recent design and not of the original 1970 issue. New York allows you to update vanity plates to new designs for a small fee. According to the listing on Du Pont Registry, the current owner of the plate suggested that their father buy the plate in the 1970s. This was when New York first began offering personalized plates. Surprisingly, it had not yet been claimed, allowing the family to ride around with the words "New York, New York" plastered on their government-issued vehicle identification for four decades. While the ad claims that the plate, replicas of which are sold in souvenir shops all over the Big Apple, is transferable to any vehicle, we have our doubts. Best we can tell, New York license plates don't stay with the car. The Empire State requires you to surrender your plates when you sell your car, unless you're planning on transferring them to a new car. However, the transfer can only be done, according to the New York DMV, if the names on both registrations are the same. You can't even transfer the plate to your spouse. The same rules apply for personalized plates. If you sell a vanity plated car without an immediate replacement, you can store the personalized plate with the New York DMV and then reinstate them later, but nowhere does it say the plate can be transferred. In fact, the DMV says "The new owner must apply for a new vehicle registration, vehicle plates and a title certificate. The new owner does not use the vehicle plates or the registration items of the previous owner." As our own Joe Lorio put it, "Whoever buys that Volvo might end up with just a very expensive used Volvo wagon."
