2001 Volvo V70 Xc - Great Condition & Many New Parts. No Reserve. on 2040-cars
Brooklyn, New York, United States
Selling my excellent 2001 Volvo V70 XC. 2.4 liter Turbo engine. Automatic transmission.
I'm the 2nd owner and I originally bought the car from the Manhattan dealer. It currently has 112,000 miles on it and it drives great and handles better than new. I've made many upgrades to the car and it has the best cargo space out of any wagon on the market -- the rear seats fold totally flat and it has a pop up 3rd row of seating in the back. I just bought a new wagon and need to sell it (though I don't want to), but don't want to pay for the additional insurance as well as deal with NYC parking with 2 cars. My upgrades and recent new parts include: - New battery (5yr warranty) - New timing belt, tensioner and water pump @ 105k miles - Brand new transmission brain (TCM - transmission control module) 2-weeks ago. This includes all relays along the harness (dealer installed) - New transmission installed at 90K miles (dealer installed) - New control arms installed at 90k (when the transmission was done) - New rear hatch hydraulic arms/supports - IPD front/rear sport sway bars & 12mm front end links installed at 95k miles (makes a huge difference to the handling - makes it corner much better) - New front springs installed at 100k - New IPD heavy duty front strut upper pads installed at 100k (another great suspension upgrade) - K&N air filter - New front bumper installed at 95k (there was a crack at the bottom when I bought it and it was faded, so I replaced it) - Comes with new Pagid brake pads (not installed & much better than stock)) The overall condition of the interior is in great shape. The door panels at the rear have some wear on them. The sunroof tilts up fine, but the frame that secures the interior sliding roof panel is loose and so...the sunroof doesn't open properly (the headliner needs to be disconnected on one side and the frame can be easily fixed). The rear hatch "open" warning light goes one - one of the wires got pinched when installing the new support arms in the rear...but everything locks fine. These are all minor issues. I have many receipts of parts bought, dealer work as well as independent shop work done to the car since I've owned it. It has a 4CD changer stereo that sounds fantastic. Besides what I mentioned above, everything works great. The engine is bullet proof and so is the 4 wheel drive -- it'll plow through any snow storm and it has this past (brutal) winter. The paint is in very good shape with a couple minor dings and scratches -- better than appropriate for a car of this age. This wagon has served me incredibly well since I've owned it (I bought it in 2008 with about 60k miles). As I mentioned, I wouldn't get rid of it if I didn't have to. I'm selling this car starting at a low price with no reserve. Who ever wins, I'm sure will get a great deal - it's not a beaten and worn wagon. It's fun to drive and will take you anywhere and over anything. The new transmission was over $7k, timing belt/water pump parts and work was $1,400, the suspension upgrade was another $1,500, etc. The synthetic oil and filter has been changed every 3,500 miles while I've owned it. If you're in NYC - come by and take a look. Here's a link to 25 pics of the V70 (type in http behind the "s"): s175.photobucket.com/user/rockgin/slideshow/2001%20Volvo%20V70XC Since this is a used vehicle - it's sold in AS IS CONDITION with no expressed of implied warranty. The buyer is responsible for pick up or shipping within 7 days of the close of the auction. A $250 Paypal is required within 24 hours after the auction ends and the balance is to be paid in cash at the time of pick up. Please note that the car is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to pull the auction down if it sells. |

2020 Volvo XC90 Inscription Interior Driveway Test | A lesson in minimalist luxury
Thu, Sep 10 2020We tend to love Volvo interiors. They’re beautiful, simple, inviting and a relaxing place to spend time in. Designers needed to get it right, too, because Volvo has applied the same styling and design language to every vehicle in its lineup. WeÂ’re focusing on the flagship today: the 2020 Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription. Since our tester is the Inscription trim, that means itÂ’s the most luxurious version of the bunch (Momentum and R-Line are the two others). Some highlights include perforated Nappa leather seats, a “tailored dashboard,” Gray Ash Wood trim inlays and the Orrefors crystal shift knob. Our car had the Charcoal interior scheme to play along nicely with the trim. The contrast between the light wood trim and gray stitching with the black leather is pleasing to the eye. Volvo uses a gratuitous but not overwhelming amount of piano black trim to bring some shine to the interior. ItÂ’s nice to see and touch on the buttons, but gets dirty quickly around the flat gear lever area where dust tends to collect. Much of the dash is left blank in a nod to minimalism. WeÂ’re left with a large nine-inch touchscreen oriented vertically in the center, just like every other Volvo on sale today. This is flanked by the center air vents. ThereÂ’s little to no styling going on with the vents, which seems like a missed opportunity. Regardless, we dig the layered and nicely-stitched dash that comes with the Inscription model. Also nestled into the dash is this crossoverÂ’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. ItÂ’s basic in its visuals, but plenty effective at conveying important car information. We like the more vibrant and customizable clusters from Mercedes-Benz and Audi a lot, but this one gets the job done and it isnÂ’t distracting in the least bit. Volvo has your back when it comes to comfort. Our tester has the Luxury Package, so itÂ’s equipped with massaging front seats, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Additionally, Volvo finishes the headliner in Nubuck, and the grab handles and visors get leather. Unlike everybody else, Volvo allows you to choose between three levels of heat for the steering wheel. ItÂ’s noticeable to our hands, and is great when you want to add a little heat into your fingers without being scalded. As for the massage, itÂ’s backrest only. We wish it was back and bottom, but at least the programs available for your back are soothing.
Watch Polestar talk about the development of its super S60
Fri, 03 May 2013Polestar is getting ready to deliver its first production car, the Volvo S60 Polestar. Letting the S60 stretch its legs, Polestar Racing driver Robert Dahlgren took the blue sedan from Barcelona, Spain to Jokkmokk, Sweden - stopping for wet-weather testing in Germany along the way.
Dahlgren narrates the journey of the "pilot project" that has 350 horsepower and around 368 pound-feet of torque, and will perhaps be the first in an era of hardcore Volvo production cars. It will go on sale in Australia this Summer, with other markets "under investigation." While we non-Aussies wait with fingers crossed, there's a video below to enjoy.
New Lotus SUV could be based on Volvo architecture
Tue, Mar 20 2018Last year, Chinese carmaker Geely upped its stake in Lotus to a majority, recently investing more money into the British brand. Now, talking with Automotive News, CEO Jean-Marc Gales says Geely has approved three new models: two sports cars and the third an SUV. The sports cars will be announced later this year, and they will reach production in 2020. The last time a properly new Lotus debuted was in 2009 with the Evora, so a decade later new products are certainly due. But what about that SUV? Autocar says that since Geely also owns Volvo, that makes it possible for Lotus to base the SUV onto the Volvo SPA platform, which is also used in the XC60 and XC90. The choice of platform would mean the SUV would have to be a four-cylinder model, but that's nothing new to Lotus. It could even use Volvo's "Twin Engine" hybrid setup, which would mean a power output of over 400 horsepower as stock, and that with Lotus' eagerness for lightness could be a potent combination. Autocar quotes Gales as saying, "It will go round bends like nothing else in its segment." The target weight for the approximately Porsche Macan-sized SUV is under 2,000 kilos (4,400 pounds), and the Macan weighs 4244 pounds in 400-hp Turbo guise. The Lotus SUV is projected to hit the market in "about four years," and it's very likely to be built in China instead of Britain, as the Chinese market is very enticing — especially for this class of vehicle. The vehicles will still be designed at Lotus' Hethel HQ. Related Video:
