1998 Volvo Xc70 V70 Awd No Rust Clean Carfax New Parts Volvo Tech Owned Nr on 2040-cars
Batavia, Illinois, United States
I am a Volvo tech and I'm selling a
dependable rust free 1998 Volvo v70 XC70 AWD (originally from PA) w/ every option(non smoker) or pet
hair, I purchased this dark green wagon tan leather interior from a customer
of mine 4 months ago he took great care of it and kept it well
maintained. If you are looking for a Volvo wagon this is the last real
Volvo after 1998 Volvo switched over to a electronic throttle body on
there engines that had many issues which caused Volvo to put out a
recall on the throttle body, plus the ignition system was switched over
from a distributor to coil over plug which crack all the time and
cause misfire issues, plus post 98 Volvos have many electronic control
modules which are expensive to repair when they go bad I repeat when
they go bad not if they go bad, 1998 was also a good year for Volvo
transmissions most trans last about 180k post 98. I have replaced many
transmissions, I have owned many Volvos but 1998 and prior years were
very dependable, you don't have to take my word on this but do yourself a
favor and go online and read posts on the 98 and prior Volvos compared
to post 98 models.
I recently replaced many parts on the wagon in the last month here is a list of the repairs, new front brake pads and resurfaced rotors (rear brakes have 85%life), new radiator fan, re-manufactured abs module, coolant hoses radiator is a year old, lower right engine mount, transmission lines, front struts upper bushings(spring seats), front sway bar links, a/c lines, evac and recharged a/c, battery, new spark plugs, ignition wires(oem) cap and rotor (oem) Cam seals, turbo return seals, new starter, timing belt and components, water pump, thermostat, torque arm bushing, awd torque tube bushing(common issue) awd work great no clunks or vibrations, air filter, new fluids. I replaced many of the parts because I came across great discounted parts (oem). I have replaced all the fluids, four wheel alignment, the tires have about 70% life (great in rain and quiet), the auto trans shifts properly. The brakes perform properly no squeaks, or vibrations, the suspension is tight there is no loose play in any of components NO fluid leaks, a/c blows cold, heat blows hot, premium sound system oem. Everything works in and out of the Volvo no surprises every switch, bulb, solenoid. The interior is 9 out of 10 in great shape leather is in good condition normal wear and tear no rips or wholes heated front and rear seats, power everything, dog cargo net, tailgate panel was removed(they always vibrate) the body is in great shape no prior accidents (CLEAN CARFAX) normal wear and tear a couple small dents but the body is straight for being a 1998 vehicle I would give the body a 8 out of 10, the paint still shines like new. I have drove this xc70 to Denver in the past month w/ no issues 22-23 MPG. PLEASE EMAIL W/ ANY QUESTIONS or call me at 6302708196. Please call between 8am-6pm central time
Winning bidder will be satisfied w/ the Volvo if your not satisfied w/ the xc70 when you come and pick it up in person I will refund your deposit and leave positive feedback. Winner must leave a $500 deposit via paypal w/in 24hrs on auctions end and pay the balance in cash on delivery of vehicle, winner is responsible for shipping or pick up I will not meet anyone at an airport w/ the vehicle, you must come to my location to pick up the Volvo I will not deliver it. Automakers want to stop the EPA's fuel economy rules change, and why that's a shortsighted move
Tue, Dec 6 2016With a Trump Administration looming, the EPA moved quickly after the election to propose finalizing future fuel economy rules last week. The auto industry doesn't like that (surprise), and has started making moves to stop the EPA. Ford CEO Mark Fields said he wanted to lobby Trump to lower the standards, and now the Auto Alliance, a manufacturer group, is saying it will join the fight against cleaner cars. The Alliance represents 12 automakers: BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Porsche, Toyota, VW, and Volvo. Gloria Bergquist, a spokesperson for the Alliance, told Automotive News that the "EPA's sudden and controversial move to propose auto regulations eight months early - even after Congress warned agencies about taking such steps while political appointees were packing their bags - calls out for congressional action to pause this rulemaking until a thoughtful policy review can occur." The EPA was going to consider public comments through April 2017, but then said it would move the deadline to the end of December. That means that it can finalize the rules before President Obama leaves office. The director of public affairs for the Consumer Federation of America, Jack Gillis, said on a conference call with reporters last week when the EPA originally announced its decision that it is unlikely that President Trump will be able to roll back these changes. Gillis also said on the same call that any attempt by the automakers to prevent these changes would be history repeating itself. "These are the same companies that fought airbags, and now promoting the fact that every car has multiple airbags," he said. "These are the same companies that fought the crash-test program, and now are promoting the crash-test ratings published by the government. So, it's clear that they're misperceiving the needs of the American consumer." There are more reasons the Allliance's pushback is flawed. Carol Lee Rawn, the transportation program director for Ceres, said on that call that the automotive industry is a global one, and many automakers are moving to global platforms to help them meet strict fuel economy rules around the world.
NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022
Thu, Mar 17 2016The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
2020 Volvo XC90 Inscription Interior Driveway Test | A lesson in minimalist luxury
Thu, Sep 10 2020We tend to love Volvo interiors. They’re beautiful, simple, inviting and a relaxing place to spend time in. Designers needed to get it right, too, because Volvo has applied the same styling and design language to every vehicle in its lineup. WeÂ’re focusing on the flagship today: the 2020 Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription. Since our tester is the Inscription trim, that means itÂ’s the most luxurious version of the bunch (Momentum and R-Line are the two others). Some highlights include perforated Nappa leather seats, a “tailored dashboard,” Gray Ash Wood trim inlays and the Orrefors crystal shift knob. Our car had the Charcoal interior scheme to play along nicely with the trim. The contrast between the light wood trim and gray stitching with the black leather is pleasing to the eye. Volvo uses a gratuitous but not overwhelming amount of piano black trim to bring some shine to the interior. ItÂ’s nice to see and touch on the buttons, but gets dirty quickly around the flat gear lever area where dust tends to collect. Much of the dash is left blank in a nod to minimalism. WeÂ’re left with a large nine-inch touchscreen oriented vertically in the center, just like every other Volvo on sale today. This is flanked by the center air vents. ThereÂ’s little to no styling going on with the vents, which seems like a missed opportunity. Regardless, we dig the layered and nicely-stitched dash that comes with the Inscription model. Also nestled into the dash is this crossoverÂ’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. ItÂ’s basic in its visuals, but plenty effective at conveying important car information. We like the more vibrant and customizable clusters from Mercedes-Benz and Audi a lot, but this one gets the job done and it isnÂ’t distracting in the least bit. Volvo has your back when it comes to comfort. Our tester has the Luxury Package, so itÂ’s equipped with massaging front seats, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Additionally, Volvo finishes the headliner in Nubuck, and the grab handles and visors get leather. Unlike everybody else, Volvo allows you to choose between three levels of heat for the steering wheel. ItÂ’s noticeable to our hands, and is great when you want to add a little heat into your fingers without being scalded. As for the massage, itÂ’s backrest only. We wish it was back and bottom, but at least the programs available for your back are soothing.
