2001 Volvo V70 Xc Cross Country, Very Well Maintained, No Reserve! on 2040-cars
Forest Hill, Maryland, United States
Don't be put off by this car's mileage, it drives better and looks nicer than most Cross Country's with half the mileage. This has been my wife's car for the past 6 or 7 years, and I own a European auto repair shop, so it has always received any and all needed repairs. It has been a great car for her, and the awesome safety is a nice reassurance when hauling the kids around. This car drives great, is awesome in the snow, has cold a/c and great heat (with heated seats!). It is quiet and smooth down the road, no weird noises or problems. Has all the power functions you could want and everything works, seats, locks, windows etc. It has the rear steel dog/cargo grate option that folds down from the roof. With all of the maintenance and repairs that have been done, this car should be able to go another 100k.
The Good: Timing belt just done 3k miles ago including replacement of cam seals, brand new radiator and radiator hoses, recent a/c compressor and expansion valve, recent lower control arms and front and rear struts/shocks. Transmission replaced about 20k miles ago with a Volvo reman trans. New front and rear pads and rotors using quality euro parts. Has a receiver tow hitch with factory Volvo wiring connector. The Bad: Driver seat leather torn, rear view mirror doesn't auto dim, and left rear seat belt needs to be replaced (I had to cut the belt because my son managed to get it jammed). That's it really, everything else works and looks as it should. Car is located in and needs to be picked up in Forest Hill, MD. If you wish to ship, I can cooperate with the shipper of your choice. Thanks for looking! |

Volvo's next-generation cars will feature gaming-derived graphics
Fri, Jun 3 2022Volvo joined forces with Epic Games, the company that created the Fortnite franchise, to give its next-generation cars a faster infotainment system with vastly improved graphics. Using technology gleaned from the world of gaming promises to unlock a long list of new features. Don't expect to see a Fortnite-themed display in the XC90's replacement; the partnership isn't going that far. Volvo explained that it will use the Unreal Engine, a real-time 3D creation tool developed for industries outside of the gaming world, to develop the digital interface it will program into future additions to its range. This technology will allow it to deliver richer colors, sharper renderings and new 3D animations. Good graphics aren't worth much if the software is annoying to use, so Volvo will power its next infotainment system with the third-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platforms designed by Qualcomm. We're told that the end result is a system that's over twice as fast as the one Volvo currently uses, and whose graphic generation and processing capacities are up to 10 times faster. Volvo hasn't released a video of the software in action yet, but we won't have to wait long to see it: the feature will debut in a new flagship model due out by the end of 2022. This isn't the first time that Volvo has enlisted the help of a technology company to design an infotainment system. Its current cars (like the C40 Recharge) are fitted with Google's Android Automotive OS infotainment system. And, the worlds of gaming and in-car technology have collided before: Nissan notably asked Polyphony Digital, the company behind the Gran Turismo franchise, to design the GT-R's display. Volvo XC40 delayed because it's too big for its own good?
Thu, 11 Jul 2013As fuel prices rise and greenhouse gases poke holes in the ozone, big, gas-guzzling sports utility vehicles are becoming less popular as smaller, cleaner vehicles, such as crossovers, gain market share. Volvo is late to the small crossover party, though it wants to build the XC40 crossover to compete with the Land Rover Evoque. The only problem with that, Autocar reports, is that a suitable (read: small enough) platform for it is up to five years away, despite a hopeful photos of it in testing guise.
Volvo is currently developing a new platform, called SPA (Scaleable Platform Architecture), to underpin its next-generation of vehicles, such as the 2014 XC60 pictured above and the S60 sedan, which is likely the smallest vehicle that would be able to use the new platform. Furthermore, there doesn't seem to be a quick fix for the gaping hole in Volvo's lineup, and Geely, the Chinese budget car manufacturer that owns Volvo, is reportedly preparing to launch a mid-market brand that may or may not be sold outside of China.
Can't Swedish car manufacturers catch a break?
Volvo reveals 400-hp twin-charged PHEV power for new XC90 [UPDATE]
Tue, 08 Jul 2014UPDATE: An earlier version of this post indicated that the larger of the conventional diesel engines was a five-cylinder. However all three powertrains announced for the upcoming new XC90 are actually four-cylinder engines. The text has been updated accordingly.
Volvo rolled in to new territory when it introduced the original XC90 back in 2002, creating its first SUV and one of its top-selling models. But that was 12 years ago. In the meantime it's followed up with the smaller XC60, but what the brand faithful and the industry at large have been looking forward to most is the arrival of the new XC90.
Previewed by the Concept XC Coupe at the Detroit Auto Show, the new XC90 is set to arrive later this year, but to keep us on our toes, the Swedish automaker has been steadily trickling out a stream of information and photos. Two months ago it gave us a glimpse inside the cabin, and last month it revealed its new infotainment system, but now Volvo has released details on the upcoming new XC90's powertrain.
