Up for sale is an extremely rare Volvo V70R with a 6 speed manual transmission and the orange interior. I bought this car with 204000 miles on it and immediately replaced the timing belt with pulleys and tensioner, both VVT hubs for the camshafts, all 4 camshaft seals, water pump, serpentine belt, spark plugs, replaced the whole pcv breather system, air filter, charcoal pollen filter, boost control solenoid, new A/C compressor, transmission axle seals, front brake pads and turned the front rotors, lower front control arms and ball joints. All the parts that I replaced were new OEM Volvo parts. Yes that’s over 3K in just parts. I also replaced the upper engine mount and lower transmission mount with the polyurethane IPD replacement. I also had the car tuned for 18 psi of boost and Makes about 350-375 crank HP. my friend has had the same tune on his car for over 50,000 miles with no problems so you don’t have to worry about longevity. The car runs and drives amazing for its mileage. I replaced all the problem components so there is another 100K of care free driving ahead. The clutch engages smooth and strong with no vibration or clunking from the dual mass flywheel. The transmission shifts smoothly without any grinding or noise. The engine doesn’t make any unusual noises. The car doesn’t leak or burn any fluids. The suspension is tight and the 4C adjustable dampening works great without any problems or codes. The tires have about 60% life left. There are no check engine lights on or any problems at all with the engine or any electrical item in the whole car. The interior shows its use but isn’t ripped or tourn. Every electrical option works 100% on the car. It has power everything. I even updated the center console with one from a 2007 so no broken cup holder ever. The exterior shows normal wear and tear from a car with 200K. It has its fair share of parking lot door dings paint chips and scratches but in overall good shape. The AWD system on this car works great. I replaced both driveshaft joints the angle gear sleeve and resealed the angle gear. I bought a used angle gear and at speeds of over 60 it makes a slight humming noise but I have been driving it for 4K miles and it hasn't had a problem and it isn't louder. Please email me with any questions or if you want to see the car in person. |

Volvo won't go after S-Class, 7 Series market
Mon, 22 Apr 2013Volvo vice president of powertrain engineering, Derek Crabb, recently said that the Swedish automaker is developing smaller and smarter powertrain options that will "turn V8s into dinosaurs" - a statement that could have been our first indication that Volvo is no longer looking to create a luxury flagship sedan to take on German land yachts like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series. Now Automotive News seems to be backing this up after speaking with CEO Hakan Samuelsson, who said that a big sedan wouldn't fit the brand's green image and, more importantly, might not even be a car that its customers would even consider.
Rather than trying to compete in a small, established market against rear-drive, 12-cylinder sedans, Volvo is looking at the emerging, higher-volume premium small car segment to take on its German rivals with the all-new Volvo V40 (shown above). Not wanting to abandon the big-vehicle segment altogether, a next-generation XC90 is due out within the next couple years (and was spotted in some recent spy shots), and it will ride on the new Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA), which will be shared with the new S80 according to the AN article.
Volvo V60 Polestar is one hot hauler
Tue, 26 Nov 2013Earlier this year, Polestar jumped from the racetrack to the showroom with its own take on the Volvo S60 sedan. And given the similarity and the proud history of hot Volvo wagons, not to mention the spy shots and teasers, we knew it would only be a matter of time before Volvo's racing partner would return with a similar take on the V60. And that's just what it's done.
Powering the new Volvo V60 Polestar is the same 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six as the sedan, driving 350 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission and Haldex all-wheel-drive system. Hitting 62 miles per hour reportedly happens in the same 4.9 seconds as the sedan, on its way to a stop speed of 155 mph.
The power upgrades come courtesy of a twin-scroll Borg Warner turbocharger, intercooler and overhauled exhaust system. Other upgrades over Volvo's own R-Design model include stiffer springs, Öhlins shocks, 20-inch wheels, Brembo brakes and a full aero kit, not to mention an upgraded cabin from which to command the performance.
2015 Volvo S60 T6 Drive-E
Wed, 23 Apr 2014For those not paying attention, Volvo has updated its S60 sedan range for 2015 with a new range of engines under the Drive-E label. Wearing the same T5 and T6 badges to note the relative levels of power under the hood, both engines are 2.0-liter four-cylinders, with the lesser being turbocharged and the greater being both supercharged and turbocharged.
Both Drive-E variants are currently only available in front-wheel-drive flavor, though Volvo will still happily sell you an S60 T5 AWD with the older 2.5-liter turbo five-cylinder, or a top-of-the-line S60 T6 with a turbo'd 3.0-liter six-cylinder and all the wheels turning.
The car I drove for a week is perhaps the most balanced version of the S60 range, with that exotic sounding twin-charged 2.0-liter mill planted happily in the attractively sloping nose. Provided you're not hung up on front-drive dynamics, the T6 Drive-E might be a solid candidate for your next premium small sedan shopping list, as well.
