2002 Volvo V70 X/c Wagon Awd, Great Commuter Car Or Mechanic Special Runs Great! on 2040-cars
Bridgeport, Connecticut, United States
On Apr-03-14 at 17:46:18 PDT, seller added the following information: hi and thnx. this is a car that I am very familiar with. we have owned Volvos, and wagons, in the past. it is so cool to have the husky AWD wagon and this version of the V70 is probably the best you can get. this car runs good and the motor is great. strong, smooth and quiet. lo pressure turbo gives to punch, and the suspension just soaks up the road. great drive and classy car. this is a 5 cylinder turbo, autko, a/c, full gauges, ABS, air bags, alloys, 4 wheel disc brakes, like newer tires, light tint glass, leather, full power and more. runs and drives on the road as good as it looks. this Volvo is practically ding, dent and scratch free. all services up to date. timing belt replaced at 95 k, thick and shiny rotors, great rubber, straight body, glossy paint, rear cargo mat, good electric, horn, wipers, lights, seats, glass, gauges, full power, AWD, quiet exhaust, battery. steers straight, brakes well, clean, quiet and comfortable. but, to be picky... this is an older car with 150k miles. mats show signs of wear and use. carpets are soiled. bumpers were shined for appearance. there is one key and no remotes (if they had them). no check engine lights, current emissions, clean title. car runs good but has a hard upshift from second to third gear, and pause between downshifts on occasion. I can't duplicate this every time, but is a fact. I take the kids to school, go to work, around town and highway... its Ok for me. these trannies are good for 250k, and it simply may need a service or a tune up. the tranny shifts poorly from 2nd to 3rd. nice car; bid and buy. I will sell for cheap while you drive home and look like a million. no shame here, eBay deal, pay what you want. have bought and sold over 100 cars on eBay, and I am happy to continue. most of these cars for sale are new car dealer trades and or on consignment. as such, I am trying to avoid and keep down the number of re-lists, or not completed sales by high bidders. please do not bid or buy if you are short on cash, have many un-asked question or can't make arrangements with me regarding prompt payment and pick up. I can help with shipping, transport, motor vehicle paperwork, storage... all at little to no extra cost. happy to help, but please let me know ahead of time if you have an unusual situation ~!~ at time of pick up, you can expect car, keys, title, bill of sale, emission report, key(s), CT DMV Q-1 and booklets as available. on occasion, especially last minute or weekend schedules, the title may have to follow within the next business day or two, just to allow payments to clear. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- not a new car, not perfect, no showroom.... but overall great shape and worth a buying. eBay sale price here ~!~ pay only what you want ~~. bid and buy, drive home. car is as shown and at my home; why not drive by, say hi and drive it to your house? clean title and all documents !! j. bettes 800 Clinton ave bridgeport, CT 06604 203.258.3356 cell anytime |

Volvo's pedestrian airbags may already be on their way out
Sun, 01 Dec 2013As proof of just how quickly automotive technology can advance, just check out the Volvo V40. Developed with an external airbag aimed at better protecting pedestrians in the event of a collision, this innovative safety device could be phased out soon in place of more advanced active safety technologies like pedestrian detection and auto braking.
Go Auto had a chance to talk to Volvo senior VP Lex Kerssmakers at the Tokyo Motor Show, and he suggested that the V40's under-hood airbag will not be used on the next-gen XC90 and might not even be continued on non-SUV models. The passive airbag was designed to deploy at speeds of less than 31 miles per hour to help limit head injuries to pedestrians, but new active technologies are designed to prevent collisions in the first place.
The interview also reveals some details about the new XC90, such as the inclusion of a plug-in hybrid system and the debut of a new safety technology. Kerssmakers told Go Auto that a new Volvo concept will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January, but it won't be for the XC90.
Editors’ Picks February 2023 | Audi RS 3, electric G80 and a longtime favorite
Wed, Mar 1 2023In this month’s set of EditorsÂ’ Picks, we see a wide variety of vehicles earn our recommended status. The Audi RS 3 is a truly stellar sedan with a killer engine, great handling and still enough comfort for daily use. Genesis finds its way onto the list again with its electric version of the G80 midsize sedan, and VolvoÂ’s XC90 still charms after all these years. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get an EditorsÂ’ Pick designation. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in January that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2023 Audi RS 3 Quick take: The Audi RS 3 keeps the passion alive with a superb sounding 5-cylinder engine and a torque-vectoring rear differential that massively ups the handling fun. Its interior is a little bland, but it's still a handsome Audi on the outside. Score: 8.0 What it competes with: Mercedes-AMG CLA 45, BMW M240i, Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing, VW Golf R Pros: Epic engine sound, fun AWD system, great handling and acceleration, attractive exterior styling Cons: Interior doesn't pop, expensive for its size From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — "If you love a special engine, the Audi RS 3 is a car for you. Few powertrains sound and feel as special as the 5-cylinder engine in the RS 3, and the ferocity with which it accelerates will have you laughing your head off with every pull. The sheer performance out of this little machine is extraordinary, and I'd recommend it to anybody shopping for a small, luxury sports car daily. All that said, I wish Audi could've sorted out better steering and a suitable interior. As-is, both of those factors are negatives in a car that is almost all upside." In-depth analysis: 2023 Audi RS 3 First Drive Review: To hell with business cases  2023 Volvo XC90 2022 Volvo XC90 Recharge View 15 Photos Quick take: The XC90 may be old now, but key updates and a timeless design ensure it's competitive as ever. The Scandinavian interior design appeal has never faded, and now the Google-based infotainment system is fresh and snappy. Even the Recharge PHEV is an awesome alternative with great range and strong electric motor.
Volvo PV444 turns 70
Sun, 31 Aug 2014Volvo has made all manner of vehicles over the course of its long history, including coupes, convertibles, hatchbacks, sedans, wagons and SUVs. But the vehicle that started it all was the PV444.
Or rather, we should say, the PV444 is what re-started it all. Because while it wasn't Volvo's first model, it was the first one it produced after the war. Monday, September 1, will mark 70 years since the PV444 first debuted at the Royal Tennis Hall in Stockholm pictured above, where the company received 148,437 visitors.
That presentation there took place shortly before the end of World War II when the vehicle wasn't even finished yet. A team of 40 engineers and designers were still fine-tuning the final version, but were eager to show the public what it would start building after the last bullet was fired and peace would return to Europe.
