Engine failure. Dead battery. In December, the mileage was approximately 180,000. Uncertain exactly how much since the vehicle was not driven since January. Exterior in decent shape. It could use a good car wash. Interior is in very good shape considering the age and milage. Mechanically all else was fine including the transmission which never gave any issues for me."

My Volvo XC70 had an engine heart attack and slipped into a coma over the winter.  A self anointed M.D. (A Motor Doctor hanging out at in one of the long lines at Auto Zone) abandoned her on the operating table while performing a routine timing belt replacement.  After a couple of days of neglecting curiosity, I decided to turn over the engine myself with wishful thinking.  It was a rough start.  I heard a rapid series of  clicks and knocks so, I immediately turned her off.  Too late!  The damage was done.  I soon found another willing M.D. (at Auto Zone of course) and he determined that her valve stems were bent. (Almost sounds like a feminine issue). As she lay there motionless in my make shift ICU section of my drive way, the "expert" gave me a quote.  Not feasible for me.  As her next of kin, I decided right then and there to put her down.  But not without enlisting your aid!

I need her moved ASAP either by a gurney or a tow of your choice.  From there, feel free to check her into an auto clinic of your choice and revive her as a project.  If not, put her on a hydraulic slab at the auto morgue and dissect her as a mechanical organ donor.  If neither suits your needs, by all means, please find her a decent plot and send her off with a 21 gun salute.
Uncle Sam might appreciate and reward your efforts for it!

Interior:
The leather seats are slightly worn as expected over time.  However, there are no loose seams and/or tears in the firm yet supple leather.   All cabin buttons, levers, locks and lights were in working order before tragedy befell her.

Exterior:
She can use a good wash!

Performance:
Keep in mind that the battery is dead and I can only provide an approximation on the mileage.  The odometer might have + or - 3000 on the 185,000 miles listed.
Front and Rear brakes done a year ago.  The ignition always fired up quickly.  The car drove straight.  AC was cold.  Heat worked.  Wipers worked.  No check engine lights or related problems to report in the past. The suspension was a glide, the handling was tight, the shifting was flawless.

Me:
I am not a dealer.  I am a private seller with 100% FB.  I attempt to list as accurately as possible.  However, I am human and am therefore prone to unintentional oversight and errors.  Furthermore, I do not claim nor do I imply to know the full history of the vehicle as I have only owned it for approximately 4 years.  Never had any issues until her mechanical health was compromised by an unlicensed M.D. I found standing bored in a long, long line at Auto Zone.

You:
Before you take my word(s) or engage in the gears of commerce, you have the right to inspect the vehicle before the end of the auction.

The XC70:
Is selling AS IS in all its glory.

Lotus could be sold to Chinese automaker Geely

Mon, Feb 20 2017

Two things are constant throughout the history of Lotus Cars: amazing vehicles, and financial struggles. Frequent changes in both ownership and leadership have left the company's future up in the air. And while the new management has improved quality and set a new product plan in place, its seems that Lotus could have a new parent company soon. Despite comments to the contrary, Chinese automaker Geely is rumored to be interested in acquiring Lotus Cars. The British automaker has been owned by Proton since 1996, but after Proton was sold to DRB-Hicom in 2012 investors suggested selling off Lotus. The Star Online reports that PSA in France is rumored to be looking at purchasing Proton cars from DRB-Hicom. In turn, Geely, the parent company of Volvo, is interested in purchasing Lotus from Proton. The report states that Geely has no interest in mass-market vehicles from Proton, while crossover-focus PSA, owner of Peugeot and Citroen, has no interest in a sports car manufacturer like Lotus. China has been encouraging its native automakers to purchase and acquire technology it lacks. Buying Lotus looks like it would benefit both companies. Lotus needs an influx of cash while Geely, looking to compete further on the global stage, would gain a great deal of technical and engineering knowledge from Lotus. Geely's stewardship of Volvo has been mostly hands-off, while giving the Swedish company enough money to invest in new platforms and technologies. If the same were to happen to Lotus, Colin Chapman's company could have its best years ahead of it. Volvo to go all electric by 2030, hastening internal combustion's death

Tue, Mar 2 2021

LONDON — VolvoÂ’s entire car lineup will be fully electric by 2030, the Chinese-owned Swedish company said on Tuesday, joining a growing number of carmakers planning to phase out fossil-fuel engines by the end of this decade.   “I am totally convinced there will be no customers who really want to stay with a petrol engine,” Volvo Chief Executive Hakan Samuelsson told reporters when asked about future demand for electric vehicles. “We are convinced that an electric car is more attractive for customers.” The Swedish carmaker said 50% of its global sales should be fully-electric cars by 2025 and the other half hybrid models. Owned by Hangzhou-based Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, Volvo will launch a new family of electric cars in the next few years, all of which will be sold online only. Volvo will unveil its second all-electric model, the C40, later on Tuesday. Samuelsson said Volvo will include wireless upgrades and fixes for its new electric models — an approach pioneered by electric carmaker Tesla Inc. Carmakers are racing to switch to zero-emission models as they face CO2 emissions targets in Europe and China, plus looming bans in some countries on fossil fuel vehicles. Last month, Ford said its lineup in Europe will be fully electric by 2030, while Tata Motors unit Jaguar Land Rover said its luxury Jaguar brand will be entirely electric by 2025 and the carmaker will launch electric models of its entire lineup by 2030. And last November, luxury carmaker Bentley, owned by GermanyÂ’s Volkswagen, said its models would be all electric by 2030. Electrification is expensive for carmakers, and as electric vehicles have fewer moving parts, auto employment is expected to shrink.    Volvo CEO Samuelsson said that industrywide, electrification will mostly affect engine plants and auto suppliers providing everything from oil filters to fuel injectors and spark plugs. “Those are a lot of jobs of course,” he said. “But overall I donÂ’t think there will be a big difference.” Volvo said it will “radically reduce” the complexity of its model line-up and provide customers with transparent pricing. The carmakerÂ’s global network of 2,400 traditional bricks-and-mortar dealers will remain open to service vehicles and to help customers make online orders.

2014 Volvo V60 to start at $35,300*

Tue, 31 Dec 2013

When Volvo announced US pricing for its updated 2014 model line, it left one vital model out of the equation: that would be the V60, the long-roofed version of the S60 sedan and the long-awaited replacement for the V70 wagon that left our shores nearly four years ago. But if you look at the V60's product page now, you'll see a starting MSRP listed at $35,300. That represents a $2,900 premium over the S60 and an $800 premium over the larger (but older) XC70 softroader.
Delve further into the online configuration tool and you'll see that the price is applied, naturally, to the base turbocharged five-cylinder, front-drive model. Go for the Premier or Platinum trims and the price begins to climb, as it does with the addition of all-wheel drive, the turbo six engine and the R-Design spec. You'll also need to account for the *$915 destination charge. Tick all the boxes and you'll soon be looking at a price tag of over $50,000. Order books open with the start of the new year.
