For Sale is a very well cared for 1999 Volvo V70 T5 wagon. It is a V70R clone. (Badging and handling package upgrade) Handles like a sports car. Low profile wheels and tires.

The Head gasket went last August and it has been sitting for a year as we bought another Volvo GLT.
The body and interior are awesome. We replaced some leather panels and they are a perfect match. Carpet is real good. Headliner is great. Glass is excellent.
This has the 3rd row seat that appears to never have been used. I am really torn what to do. Should I spend the money on the head gasket or just buy another car. We bought another car and I still held out hope to fix her up again. It is now time to sell her to someone that will get her back on the road. Small dent that is just pushed in in lower passenger door. Back bumper had a nonskip decal that is removed. See material included in sale to put on or just repaint. Prior owner put on cool accents over all wood in the interior. material looks good and fits great. See pics.

Here are the items replaced etc in the past 3 years:
Front headlight assembly
Front facia under the grille area.
Fog light assembly
Back hatch repaired.
Replaced high end air filter.
Painted hood as it had many chips and scratches. Not damaged in a wreck.
Newer low profile tires replaced 15K ago.
Replaced the ABS module.
Conditioned all leather throughout. Only one minor scratch now!

What it needs:
Head gasket. Self diagnosed with the heavy white smoke. Have not had it serviced.
Took one window module to put in new volvo.
The front passenger door will not open as of the module being removed.
Battery now dead after sitting for a year!

See pics for details.
Sold with no warranty and shipping is the responsibility of the purchaser.

Volvo demos autonomous self-parking car concept

Thu, 20 Jun 2013

A number of companies are developing autonomous vehicle technology - Google and Audi come to mind - but Volvo is applying its work in the area to a particular usage case: parking. The Swedish automaker has the technology up and running in a concept vehicle, which it says can be dropped off at the curb by its owner and left to its own devices to enter and navigate a car park, then find and park in an available parking spot. Volvo says the process can even be reversed when the owner is ready to go, with the car leaving the car park on its own to meet its key-holder again at the curb.
The vehicle first interacts with Vehicle 2 Infrastructure technology, which places transmitters in the road itself to inform the car (and driver) if the self-parking service is available. The driver then hops out, activates the Self Parking function on his or her smartphone and then leaves the car to do its work. The car uses sensors, all seemingly hidden from view (an advancement of its own in this field), to autonomously navigate the car park, which includes interacting and adjusting to other cars, people and objects.
The technology used here builds off of Volvo's other work in autonomous vehicle research, namely the Safe Road Trains for the Environment (SARTRE) project in which the company managed to create a train of four cars autonomously following a lead truck at speeds up 56 miles per hour. Volvo says the first application of its autonomous research in a production vehicle will happen at the end of 2014 with some level of autonomous steering available in the next-generation XC90. Our interview with Jeremy Clarkson and James May, plus SEMA! | Autoblog Podcast #491

Fri, Nov 4 2016

This week, David Gluckman and Mike Austin talk SEMA madness, mis-aligned steering wheels, wireless charging, McLarens (they're sports cars!), and decals. We also have an excerpt from a recent interview with James May and Jeremy Clarkson of The Grand Tour and Top Gear fame. As always, we talk about a variety of cars we've been driving and then respond to some questions from listeners. And as a bonus, there's a trivia question mixed in. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want questionable buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. Oh, and please send trivia questions! You'll get the honor of stumping your fellow listeners, and we'll thank you too. Carmakers, NHTSA to unveil auto-emergency braking agreement tomorrow

Wed, Mar 16 2016

Happy St. Patrick's Day Eve. Tomorrow, there will be green beer, corned beef and cabbage, and automatic emergency braking for all. Weird combo, we know. But on St. Patty's we can expect an official announcement from a pact of automakers making auto-braking systems standard equipment by 2022. That's per a report from Reuters, which cites three sources familiar with the plans. Originally announced in September 2015 by 10 automakers and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the agreement is expected to be even larger when the details are unveiled tomorrow. According to Reuters, the manufacturers of 99 percent of the US domestic market's vehicles will be represented by the new agreement. It's believed that standard AEB systems could prevent thousands of accidents across the country. Expect more on the official announcement when it's made. Related Video:
