1998 Volvo V70 R Wagon 4-door 2.3l on 2040-cars
Roslindale, Massachusetts, United States
Mileage: 140k Engine Mileage: 100k I bought this car with a bad engine and did the RN swap because I planned to do a k24, injectors, a tune and to use the car for a winter daily. Our timeline didn't work out and we didn't get the car done until now so I rather just sell it and free up the cash since winter is coming to an end. I'm sure you guys are familiar with the swap and know what needs to be done. I'm not trying to pawn the car off as some super dooper rare swaped car but its undeniable that its convient to already have it done and its hard to find 98s that clean up this well. The car runs perfect and I honestly wish I needed a daily but I don't and storing a million cars in Boston sucks. The engine swap was done by a friend of mine who has done several of these swaps and specializes in Volvo. The engine is a B5234T3 on which the VVT and secondary air system were eliminated. The car runs like it did from the factory and every feature works. Its extremely reliable and noticeably faster then a stock R. Work performed by me (100 miles on swap): - New timing belt, tensioner, idler, and water pump - New Tstat - New Serp belt and tensioner - Cam and crank seals - New intake and exhaust gaskets - New cap, rotor, wires, and plugs - PS resevoir - Hoses - Fluid flush - Upper motor mounts - lower mileage 16T turbo - Full Detail - Painted front and rear bumpers Worked performed recently: - Genuine Driveshaft - Brakes (they look to have low mileage on them) - Tires (also look to be pretty new) What it needs: - Upper shock mounts - Windshield (12 inch crack on far right side of windshield. Not in line of site) - misc interior pieces The exterior has original paint minus the bumpers and is in great shape. The car is rust free with the exception of a small spot on the tailgate (stupid molding). The interior has no tears and the front seats are still firm with nice bolsters but could use some attention. It has heated seats, tracs, dolby pro logic, and every other option these cars came with. |

Volvo rolls out new R-Design versions of S60, XC60 and new V60
Wed, 27 Mar 2013Volvo has put together R-Design packages for its newly facelifted S60, V60 and XC60 models, and for those who want more bark to go with them, there's a power upgrade for the S60 and V60 courtesy of Polestar performance. The aesthetics start with new front and rear fascias, the grille going frameless and Tech Matte Black with a silk metal diagonal bar, the back end getting a finned diffuser and round R-Design tailpipes. On top of that, the S60 and V60 are lowered 15 millimeters and can be fitted with 19-inch versions of the company's Ixion wheel pattern.
The R-Design sport chassis stiffens things up, items like the rear dampers getting 20-percent stiffer while front bushings get a whopping 400-percent stiffer. Inside there's a black headliner, perforated leather mixed with nubuck and contrasting stitching on the sport seats, or a full leather option for those who love their cow, and the Adaptive Digital Display gets a blue hue when set to the Elegance appearance theme.
Buyers of the 3.0-liter T6 engine can add the Polestar performance option, which cranks things up to 329 horsepower instead of the standard 304 hp, and an exclusive accelerator pedal comes with it. More detail can be found in the press release below.
First production Volvo P1800 stolen
Mon, 26 Aug 2013Want further proof that car thieves are the scum of the Earth? Some crooks in Sweden made off with a prized Volvo - the very first production P1800. The P1800, a two-door coupe, is a classic that's been growing in popularity over the years, thanks in no small part to its gorgeous sheetmetal.
This particular example, wearing chassis number two, wears red paint with a white interior. It was swiped from a locked storage facility in Stockholm, according to Hemmings, between August 21 and 22. The P1800 was owned by Mats Eriksson, vice president of the Swedish P1800 Club, who had given it a thorough restoration. Features to look out for on this particular car include the unique wheel covers shown in the gallery, and two different registration plates - C28000 and ACZ 780.
Larmtjänst AB, a non-profit that fights vehicle crimes in Sweden, is accepting any and all information pertaining from the theft. If you, or anyone you know, was in Stockholm on the night of the days of the theft or has seen a red P1800 in the Scandinavian region, head over to the Larmtjänst AB website to submit a tip.
Volvo to unveil permanent high-beam headlamp technology [w/video]
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Volvo will be showing off its Active High Beam technology at the Geneva Motor Show next week. The system will allow drivers to use their high beams all the time and adds another responsibility to the cameras mounted by the rearview mirror, making them detect traffic ahead, whether it be another car or a truck or motorcycle and in the same lane or oncoming. When a vehicle is detected, a special projector in the Xenon lamps can block out only the portion of the high beam that would impair the other driver. Volvo says the system is accurate down to a 1.5-inch margin around another object.
Active High Beam will be fitted to the Volvo S60, V60 and XC60 and we have to assume they mean the non-US versions of those cars. Audi has a similar technology that it calls "matrix beam lighting," and due to the way the US Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard code is written, such active control of high beams is verboten on cars sold here.
The Swedish brand also plans to present a collision-avoidance technology it's calling a "world-first." The press release below has more information and the accompanying video demonstrates the lighting tech.
