1966 Volvo 122 S 1.8l on 2040-cars
Bellingham, Washington, United States
1966 Volvo 122. Car is in great condition for 48 years old. Not a show car, but a good clean driver/project. Not the type of vehicle for somebody who isn't mechanically inclined. Amazingly no rust. B18 rebuilt with FI B20 head with hardened valve seats to burn unleaded. Rare IPD Volvo aluminum valve cover. Electronic ignition. Alternator conversion. Smooth four speed with good working overdrive. IPD springs, sway bars, and poly bushings. Brakes gone through on all four corners. Door panels and dash recovered. Needs headliner installed (I have the headliner). Front seats are in OK condition, but are not original (green upholstery). Back seat in good condition. Needs a new carpet kit. Has center console with Volvo clock and the switch for the OD (not hooked up yet). Starts easily (although a little cold blooded) and runs like a swiss watch. Uses no fluids. Drives strait and true- will run down the highway at 75 all day. Has rare wide steel wheels. I have some misc. extra parts- set of good SU carbs with manifold, muffler (has glass pack on it now), tail light seals, etc… Hate to sell, but just don't drive it enough keep it. Ask any questions that I didn't cover here before bidding. Will NOT ship overseas. Shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer. $500 deposit due within 48 hours of auction end. I can store the car for a reasonable amount of time- but would like it gone within one month.

How many other cars does it take to kill a Volvo?
Thu, 27 Dec 2012We all know how safe Volvo cars are, but a European junkyard has decided to put it to the test by crashing, jumping and rolling the life out of an 850 wagon. While government tests use automated systems to crash new cars, the guys in this video do so with a driver behind the wheel. Aside from what looks like a safety harness and roll bar for the driver, it seems like this car is otherwise bone stock.
Not wanting to spoil the fun for you, we'll just point out that at the start of the video, our hero car looks pretty flawless, and by the end, well, let's just say the Craigslist ad for the car would say "needs some body work." Check out the video below to watch some stunts that even the Duke Boys might shy away from.
Volvo C30 Polestar Concept hits the 'Ring
Mon, 05 Aug 2013It's been over three years since the Volvo C30 Polestar Concept was unveiled, driven by journalists and, as it turns out, lapped around the Nürburgring with Scandinavian Touring Car Championship driver Robert Dahlgren behind the wheel. For whatever reason, the video of the 'Ring track session was only published by the tuning company yesterday. (Another discrepancy: Did Polestar's C30 lose 46 horsepower somewhere along the line? Because the video states that it has 405 hp, while the company's website quotes 451 hp...)
Whatever the case, the tuned Volvo is a beast, much more so than the similar-looking, 250-hp 2013 Volvo C30 Polestar Limited Edition that was sold last year. With 451 hp (sounds better than 405 hp, doesn't it?), all-wheel drive, limited-slip differentials front and rear and Öhlins dampers, the Polestar Concept checks all of the right boxes for us.
For some reason, the video, which you can watch below, seems a bit vanilla to us. Perhaps the overly dramatic music takes away from the action and the beautiful sounds of the turbocharged five-cylinder engine?
Volvo launches next-gen Sensus Connect infotainment system [w/videos]
Fri, 10 Jan 2014To borrow a line from another automaker, the Volvo S60 has the power to surprise - it's likely not top of mind for most entry-level luxury sedan buyers, but it's good enough that it probably should be. There's long been one pretty serious chink in its armor, though, and that goes for the company's entire model line: infotainment. The Swedish marque's offerings just haven't been that feature-rich, but Volvo is working to improve things with its updated Sensus Connect, a suite of functions just launched at this week's CES in Las Vegas.
The new system updates center on cloud-based connectivity advancements that include a novel Park&Pay feature that allows drivers to search for parking and pay for their space from the comfort of their car. Other functions that show off the diversity of Sensus Connect include embedded, Pandora-streaming internet radio, Wikipedia, remote start via smart phone, dealer appointment booking, destination attraction searches and an available wifi hotspot.
All of this increased functionality sounds like a big step in the right direction, and Volvo is noting it has refreshed the system's interface with "graphically themed center and driver displays" along with improved voice control and text-to-speech capabilities.
