The car runs and drives nicely, AC blows ice-cold, has like-new tires on alloy wheels. I spent over $3,000 on this car last year alone. I am the second owner. The odometer shows 282,000 km (175,000 miles). The vehicle is clean inside and out, never smoked in, no rust that I could see (except a negligible amount on the hood, below the grille) has heated leather seats, power windows, power locks, cruise control and A/C work. I am confident it will pass safety. It has lots of power, and is guaranteed to get you plenty of speeding tickets. THE GOOD: - A/C blows cold - has a good battery The following have been replaced: - steering rack for $1000 - front bearings and tie rod ends for $700 - tires for $600 - windshield for $200 - engine mount - front oxygen sensor for $300 - tune-up done last month for $400 THE BAD: There is some minor damage on the right side (see pictures) and the sunroof flew off the vehicle on the highway, last week. I believe it would be inexpensive to replace (if you get the parts at the wreckers). The engine might need a seal, it's dripping oil. Got a larger vehicle, so this one is no longer needed. Due to its age, the vehicle is sold AS-IS, WHERE-IS. Make your offer and come and drive it home! I will accept cash on pick up or transfer to my bank account. Lotus could be sold to Chinese automaker Geely
Mon, Feb 20 2017Two things are constant throughout the history of Lotus Cars: amazing vehicles, and financial struggles. Frequent changes in both ownership and leadership have left the company's future up in the air. And while the new management has improved quality and set a new product plan in place, its seems that Lotus could have a new parent company soon. Despite comments to the contrary, Chinese automaker Geely is rumored to be interested in acquiring Lotus Cars. The British automaker has been owned by Proton since 1996, but after Proton was sold to DRB-Hicom in 2012 investors suggested selling off Lotus. The Star Online reports that PSA in France is rumored to be looking at purchasing Proton cars from DRB-Hicom. In turn, Geely, the parent company of Volvo, is interested in purchasing Lotus from Proton. The report states that Geely has no interest in mass-market vehicles from Proton, while crossover-focus PSA, owner of Peugeot and Citroen, has no interest in a sports car manufacturer like Lotus. China has been encouraging its native automakers to purchase and acquire technology it lacks. Buying Lotus looks like it would benefit both companies. Lotus needs an influx of cash while Geely, looking to compete further on the global stage, would gain a great deal of technical and engineering knowledge from Lotus. Geely's stewardship of Volvo has been mostly hands-off, while giving the Swedish company enough money to invest in new platforms and technologies. If the same were to happen to Lotus, Colin Chapman's company could have its best years ahead of it. Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]
Mon, 29 Oct 2012It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.
2015 Volvo XC90 proves Sweden's auto industry is alive and well [w/video]
Fri, 03 Oct 2014The most important new Volvo in quite some time has made its first auto show appearance, with the second-generation XC90 debuting at the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
As we discussed in both our original post and Deep Dive feature, the new XC90 remains a three-row crossover for 2015, although it ditches the first-gen model's top-end, turbocharged six-cylinder in favor of a single twin-charged, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine. By pairing that with a plug-in-electric powertrain, the king of the XC90 range, the T8 TwinEngine, will offer up 400 horsepower. So yeah, performance should be brisk.
Also appearing on 2015 XC90 will be an entirely new, Apple CarPlay-compatible infotainment system with a big, vertical touchscreen display at its heart. Based on the videos we've seen, the new system looks responsive, feature-laden and quite attractive.
