2005 Volvo S60 T5 (High Pressure Turbo)

We are pleased to present this incredibly nice Volvo S60 T5 which is a very very rare car. This is quite a desirable car for a few reasons. Starting in 2005, the T5 model of the S60 became a very serious performance machine. It features different sport seats, a sportier interior trim, larger light alloy wheels, larger brakes, a lower, more sporty suspension with larger anti-sway bars, servotronic speed sensing variable-assist steering, and of course, the all-important 257 horsepower high pressure turbocharged inline 5 cylinder engine. You get all of this performance wrapped up in an ultra safe, ultra reliable Volvo. In fact, Rachael, our sales manager, drives a nearly identical car with about 250,000 miles on it. Her car has been trouble-free for the entire duration of her ownership. These cars rarely have mechanical problems. This S60 is finished in Black Stone which has been Volvo's deep, glossy black color for years and years. They still use this color on brand new Volvos today!

The interior of this S60 is in very, very good condition for its mileage. It has arena (tan) leather sport heated seats with very rare dark gray accents on the dash, console, and doors which are in place of the wood normally found in the less sporty S60s. It gives the car a very unique interior look. The car has the "high performance sound" Alpine audio system upgrade which sounds excellent. It also has a power moonroof. The previous owner of this car was definitely a non-smoker. These cars don't even come with cigarette lighters, just power outlets. There is a cup holder that accommodates two beverages which is hidden behind a sliding door which is also finished in the exclusive dark gray patterened trim. This Volvo has dual front airbags, as well as front side airbags, and curtain airbags for the front and rear seats. It also features Volvo's WHIPS Whiplash protection system. It also has rain sensitive windshield wipers, along with heated mirrors.

The exterior of this S60 is in remarkably good condition for the year and miles, and as I said before, it is Black Stone in color. Because of Volvo's excellent paint quality, black stone doesn't normally show a lot of the imperfections and chips that a typical black car of this age would. This is quite evident in the pictures. The exterior of the car is actually in very nice condition, and there aren't any major flaws to note. The car has no accident history at all. The 17 inch Nebula alloy wheels are in good condition. The car has had only two owners since it was new, and both owners seem to have serviced the car exceptionally well.

The tires are matching have greater than 60% tread remaining. The brakes are in  good shape and the car stops as it should. The legendary 2.4 Liter high pressure turbocharged 5 cylinder engine runs flawlessly and is very smooth. The transmission is also excellent. It's very smooth, while still handling well. Because this is a T5 High Pressure Turbo model, you'll notice several differences under the hood, like a revised inake system with a conical air filter, and a larger charge pipe. This, along with a larger turbo, and a tuned exhaust system allow the car to make more power. The engine itself is strengthened so that reliability is not compromised in any way. In fact, we've noticed that the high pressure turbo cars seem to be more reliable since the engines are more "beefed up" to handle the larger turbo's forced induction. The owners manual set is present. As was mentioned above, these cars rarely have mechanical issues, and this is definitely a car that you could purcahse with the intention of putting hundreds of thousands of miles on the odometer. We are a BOSCH Car Service Center, and we have completed a multi-point mechanical and visual inspection on this car to assure that it is in proper driving order.

This car includes a 3 Month 4500 Mile powertrain warranty at no additional charge. The warranty can be used at any repair shop in the United States, no matter where you live. This warranty covers the engine, transmission, and drivetrain. This is in place in order to provide peace of mind when purchasing a car via the internet. Additionally, this warranty can be adjusted to cover nearly every component on the car, and can be extended up to four years and unlimited mileage. Contact us for details on this affordable upgrade in coverage.

In many cases, it is more efficient and economical to have your car shipped to your home or office. There are various options. We have a shipping broker with whom we work that is one of the best in the business, and takes care of every aspect of the shipping process. Additionally, if you're looking for a more economical option, you can get a quote at www.uship.com. If you'd prefer to pick up your new car in person, we offer complimentary shuttle service from the Erie International Airport (ERI), as well as the Erie Pennsylvania Amtrak, Greyhound, and Megabus stations.

Purchasing a car online can definitely allow you, our customer, to get a fantastic deal on exactly the car for which you've been looking. This method is one of the best thigns to happen in the history of the used car business, because you are no longer limited to the small selection of cars offered by your local car dealerships. With affordable shipping to anywhere in the world, it is now easier than ever to find exactly the car you want at a price you like.

Since you're bidding, or making an offer, on a car which you may have not seen in person, it is important that a level of trust be established between you, our customer, and us, the dealership. This is why we post between 30 and 60 high-resolution images of every car we sell on ebay. We pride ourselves in having the most detailed, highest resolution images on ebay, and we use the finest photography equipment in order to catch even the smallest details of the cars that we sell. In addition, the description above provides a comprehensive walk-around of the car including the interior, exterior, and mechanical systems. We even will fill you in on any previous maintenance that we've performed. Regardless, all cars that we sell have been thoroughly checked for safety by our in-house master technician. In addition, we road-test every car we sell very extensively before offering it. If there are any issues with the car that are present, they will be mentioned in the auction. Because we road test the cars extensively, it is possible that the car may have more miles on it than when the auction was listed. We always encourage you to come check out the car in person before bidding or making an offer. If you are too far away to do this, there are several inspection services that can review the car, or we can take the car to a local garage of your choice for a pre-purchase inspection.

Please note that a $250 deposit within 24 hours of the end of the auction.  This deposit can be made by contacting us directly and can be paid by credit or debit card over the phone. This allows us to speak with you person-to-person which allows us to fill you in on the process and fine details of the transaction, as well as lets you know that we are real people who are committed to making the process of purchasing your new car as easy and painless as possible. Buying a car should be fun and exciting, not a chore. The balance is due within 7 days via Certified Check, Money Order, or bank wire transfer.  We can also accept credit cards and personal checks for full payment with prior authorization. Simply contact us before bidding or making your offer to let us know that you plan on paying with one of these methods so that we can let you know about additional terms that apply.

Non-paying buyers will be reported to ebay.  We charge a $255 dealer services fee for all transactions. This fee covers any           additional paperwork service, overnighting of paperwork, and dealer prep.  We can provide a temporary cardboard plate for out of state customers at no charge. Pennsylvania residents will need to pay sales tax between 6% and 7% depending upon your county of residence. There are also Pennsylvania fees for the registration, title, and license plate (unless you bring your own plate to transfer).

Inexpensive used cars are not at all the same as a brand new car, or certified pre-owned vehicle.  They are in no way flawless, or perfect. As noted above, we try our absolute best to disclose any issues which may be present on the car, however a car's condition is somewhat subjective and opinion based. Where door ding may be considered perfectly acceptable on a 10 year old car, it would never be acceptible on a car which is brand new.  Also, on higher-mileage used cars, it is important to remember that virtually any mechanical or non-mechanical component can fail at any time.  We cannot predict what components will fail in the future, or when they will fail.  This is simply the nature of older higher mileage used vehicles.  The best that we can do is assure that the car is operating properly at the time of purchase. This car is sold as-is, and we cannot be held responsible for any mechanical or non-mechanical failure.  Additionally, because we do not know the inspection requirements of other states, we cannot guarantee that this vehicle will pass any out-of-state inspections.

Honda Civic, Volvo XC90 named 2016 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year

Mon, Jan 11 2016

It's a great day to be the Honda Civic and Volvo XC90. These cars are the official 2016 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year, with the awards just having been announced at the Detroit Auto Show. The Civic is a great car, and a fantastic entry in the compact class. To us, its win isn't a surprise, though our enthusiast hearts were really rooting for the runner-up Mazda MX-5 Miata. The new Chevy Malibu was also a finalist for this year's award. As for the Truck/Utility award, we wholeheartedly agree with the Volvo XC90 choice. It's a fantastic-looking, premium, tech-forward vehicle, and represents a huge step forward for Volvo here in the United States. But its runners-up, the Nissan Titan XD and Honda Pilot, are also great choices, bringing a lot of stiff competition to some pretty important segments. Here's how the jury voted: Car of the Year Honda Civic – 203 points Chevy Malibu – 181 points Mazda MX-5 Miata – 146 points Truck/Utility of the Year Volvo XC90 – 310 points Honda Pilot – 111 points Nissan Titan XD – 109 points

Wagons make a bit of a comeback, with new models, sales on the rise

Thu, Jan 10 2019

Consider this an official invitation to hop on the wagon bandwagon. There's still tons of room because, well, it's a wagon (and market share is still extremely small). But according to new data, the segment is growing. According to a report from Bloomberg, using data from Edmunds.com, roughly 211,600 Americans purchased wagons in 2018. That is technically down from the 237,600 sold in 2017, but wagon sales in the U.S. are up 29 percent from where they were five years ago. It's also the third year in a row that wagon sales broke the 200,000 mark. The sales trends have been somewhat representative of the availability of wagons. New models have debuted during the past 5 years and therefore offer more opportunity at more brands to buy wagons. In addition to more modest cars such as the Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen, several luxury and performance brands are offering wagons today, such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Porsche, Jaguar, Volvo and Buick. (Bloomberg's headlines make the point that "crossovers are for the Kardashians," and wagons are just, well, classier.) This uptick in brand-name availability, as well as extremely well-executed design on most of the wagons currently available, has helped increase the segment's desirability. That, and its ability to better accomplish the same tasks at hand while standing out from the crossover and SUV crowd. Still, the posted numbers represent a small fraction of the total vehicles sold. According to the data, wagons only held a 1.4 percent market share in 2017, the segment's best recent year. Wagons hold a steadfast place in America's past, and they're writing an interesting new story. With the downturn in traditional cars, they may continue to create an unexpected narrative. Junkyard Gem: 1984 Volvo 242 DL

Sun, Aug 30 2020

Volvo had tremendous success with the iconic 200 Series cars, selling them in North America from the 1975 model year all the way through 1993 (and if you count the Volvo 140, which was the same car from the A pillars rearward, the 240's history goes back to the middle 1960s). Nearly everybody who bought 240s on our continent did so in order to be safe and/or practical, which meant that the two-door version never sold anywhere near as well as its four-door and wagon brethren. Here's one of those rare 240 coupes (technically speaking, a two-door sedan), found in a San Jose car graveyard last winter. If you're going to be a stickler about the designation of this car as a two-door sedan and not as a coupe, you'll also want to call it by the name Volvo used when it was in the showroom: the 1984 Volvo DL. However, everybody in the Volvo world now prefers the original naming system that Volvo used for the 200s back home in Sweden, where you had 2 followed by a numeral indicating the number of engine cylinders and a numeral indicating the number of doors, with the trim-level code after that. So, what we have for today's Junkyard Gem is a Volvo 242 DL, i.e., the cheapest new 240 Americans could buy in 1984. You could get a turbocharged engine from the factory in the 1984 242, but this car has the ordinary naturally-aspirated 2.3-liter straight-four, rated at 111 horsepower. It also has the four-speed manual transmission with overdrive controlled by the button in the middle of the shift knob. Nearly 230,000 miles on the clock, which is decent for any 1980s car but not spectacular by Volvo 240 standards. Many Volvo enthusiasts prefer the smooth lines of the coupe to the stodgier sedans and wagons, and this one shows signs of ownership by someone who wasn't just about listening to NPR while driving safely to the natural-foods store. Sure enough, it has aftermarket springs and a non-factory rear sway bar. I wish I'd found these parts back in 2007, when I was helping to build a V8-swapped Volvo 244 road racer. The presence of the keys in a junkyard car, however, usually indicates that it was voluntarily let go by its final owner. Perhaps it was a dealership trade-in that proved to be impossible to sell due to a combination of three pedals, high miles, and lack of truck-shaped body. The interior looks like it might have been tolerable before it reached this place.
