We bought the car new in Windsor, Canada and pretty much loaded it up -- heated seats, Bluetooth, power everything. The car sold for over $35,000 new. It has NEVER been smoked in. The interior is in excellent overall condition with just normal wear. We've driven it 54,000 kilometers (33,500 miles) mostly locally in the spring, summer and fall in the Windsor and Detroit areas. The miles are low because we have stored the car during the harsh winter months, so it has not been subjected to snow, ice, salt, etc. Just one minor bump that was professionally repaired. So, she's good to go. The technical details: Economical and peppy 2.4-liter five-cylinder engine, five-speed automatic transmission, disc brakes on all four corners, traction control, anti-lock brakes, etc. Fuel economy around town averages about 25 mpg. Our car always been dealer-maintained and is in excellent mechanical condition. Recent dealer-performed maintenance includes rear brakes, oil change, etc. The tires are in great shape. There have never been any mechanical issues and the car has always been totally reliable. This is a Canadian-spec car, but it can be legally imported to the U.S. because it meets U.S. federal emission and safety standards. Documentation will be provided. Volvo recommits to Sweden with development of next-gen platform and engines
Tue, 04 Dec 2012Taking into account the facts that Volvo is now owned by China's Geely and how poorly the European automotive market has been recently, we would have definitely understood if Volvo moved production of its products out of its home market. And yet, the automaker has confirmed that it will be investing billions of dollars into new platforms and engines that will be made in Sweden. On a global scale, Volvo is making roughly $11 billion of investments, and close to half of that is being earmarked for Sweden for plant expansion and upgrades.
The new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform will be the used as the basis for most future Volvo products starting with the next-generation XC90 that will be debuting at the end of 2014. SPA will be used to make up two-thirds of Volvo's sales, and gives Volvo a quicker and easier break from Ford-derived platforms. As for the Volvo Engine Architecture (VEA) family of engines, there are really no details about this mill except that it will be a four-cylinder that is more fuel efficient than current engines.

2016 Chevy Colorado grabs Motor Trend Truck of the Year award
Tue, Nov 17 2015It's not an easy feat to win Motor Trend Truck of the Year twice in a row, but the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado managed to do just that. Thanks to the introduction of the 2.8-liter Duramax four-cylinder diesel, the magazine decided to bring the pickup back to defend the title. In more good news for the Bowtie brand, the 2016 Camaro earned the magazine's Car of the Year award. The Colorado beat a tough group of finalists to earn the nod this year, including its GMC Canyon sibling. The Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra also made this year's list. The Nissan Titan XD and latest Toyota Tacoma rounded out the challengers. A model had to shine in six criteria to earn the title: advancement in design, engineering excellence, safety, efficiency, value, and performance of intended function. Like it did with the Camaro, Motor Trend posted a story online that explained the rationale for picking the Colorado again. They praised the diesel profusely and lauded the whole platform as quite a capable hauler. This year's Motor Trend SUV of the Year honor went to the Volvo XC90. The Swedish 'ute had to win against an initial group of 16 candidates that the magazine eventually whittled down to finalists that consisted of the Honda Pilot, Lincoln MKX, the combined Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and GLE Coupe, and Nissan Murano. "Seven-passenger people movers aren't supposed to drive like this," senior features editor Jonny Lieberman said about the Volvo in the announcement of the champions. The Honda CR-V won last year. In the explanation online, the judges applauded the XC90's new modular platform, and they loved both the T6 twin-charged engine and T8 hybrid version. The SUV's key enamored the writers, too.
