Up for auction is my completely stock Volvo C30 in Cosmic White/ Java. This is a terrific little car. I bought it last December from the second owner. I have all service records/ 2 keys/ all manuals and clear title in hand. It was sold new in North Carolina and then went to Cincinnati, Oh before coming up to Cleveland. I'm only selling it because I now need a bigger vehicle.

Mechanical: The car is in excellent mechanical condition. I have all of the service record from both previous owners. It has had regular oil changes done at the dealer all its life. Since I don't trust people to do my maintenance, I've done 2 Mobil 1 oil changes myself while owning it using Mann filters. About 2000 miles ago I also did brakes all the way around with Bosch pads and Meyle rear rotors. The front rotors were still good and true with no scoring. They were lightly touched up. While doing the brake work I also flushed the brake fluid and replaced it with ATE Type 200 fluid. I have not found any mechanical problems. It drives straight and smooth down the road with no service lights and the A/C is ice cold. It did 33mpg on the highway last month on a trip from Ohio to North Carolina. The Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires have lots of tread left on them.

Exterior Cosmetics: The Volvo is in excellent shape inside and out. Both previous owners, and myself, have cared for the car. There are no door dings that I have found and only a few very light dings in the roof and the hood. They are so small I can't even get a photo that shows them. There is one small mark on the lower part of the rear bumper and some chips in the front bumper. Nothing serious. I have genuine Volvo touch up paint and clear that is new in the package. I've polished and waxed it a couple times while I've owned it. The wheels all have a little cosmetic imperfections. There is the typical worming of the clear coat and a few chips and one mark that I put in when a brushed a curb. They still are very presentable. There is no rust on the car.

Interior Cosmetics: The interior is clean and fresh smelling. NOTE: The satellite radio on the dash is on with clean-removing 2 way tape and is not included. The seats and carpets are clean. There is a very tiny wear spot on the drivers seat (shown in picture) about .25" long on the edge of the seat. For those who have not driven a Volvo before, these have to be the most comfortable highway cruiser seats of any car I have owned (and that's 14 cars in 6 yrs). All electronics work as they should.

Options: This is a well optioned car. I looked for a long time to find one with all of the options this has.
  • 6 speed (not an option, but hard to find)
  • Dynaudio stereo
  • Climate Pkg (Heated seats)
  • Cruise control
  • Rear fog light
  • Self-leveling High beam HID lights with pop up washers
  • Front fog lights
  • Automatic wipers
  • 8 way power/ memory driver seat
  • Previous owner added a trailer hitch for a bike rack

Payment: Deposit of $200 via PayPal within 48 hours of end of auction. Full (cleared) payment is due before shipping. Cash or bank check for balance. It's not in my way, so the pick up date is not critical.

Shipping: I would be happy to ship it at buyers expense after payment is clear. Also, I would be happy to pick up the buyer at the Cleveland Hopkins airport (CLE) and you can drive it home.

Email me for more info/ pictures or to come take a look. It's also for sale local and I will cancel the auction if it sells locally. Thanks.

Ford, Volvo top 2014 EyesOn Design awards

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

Each year at the Detroit Auto Show, the top vehicle designs are recognized with the prestigious EyesOn Design award for production and concept vehicles. This year, the 32 EyesOn Design judges (comprised of current and former vehicle designers including Chrysler designer and SRT president Ralph Gilles, Kia designer Peter Schreyer and retired General Motors designer Wayne Cherry) handed out three awards for the Best Concept Vehicle, Best Production Vehicle and Innovative Use of Color, Graphics, and Materials.
Beating out the Mercedes C-Class and Ford F-150, the 2015 Ford Mustang was named the Best Production Vehicle as the top auto show debut at this year's Detroit show. The 2014 Volvo Concept XC Coupe took home awards as the Best Concept Vehicle and for its Innovative Use of Color, Graphics and Materials.
Considering the Volvo's primer grey hue and subtle orange accents, it was a rather surprising winner for Innovative Use of Color, Graphics, and Materials over flashier concepts like the Toyota FT-1 and our Editors' Choice top pick, the Kia GT4 Stinger. Other vehicles in the running for the concept car award include the GT4 Stinger and Audi Allroad Shooting Brake

Irv Gordon's Volvo P1800 has reached 3 million miles

Wed, 18 Sep 2013

While we were seated at our desks like good worker bees yesterday, Irv Gordon was continuing his assault on the record books. Gordon, if you recall, is the original owner of a red 1966 Volvo P1800 (owner and car shown above), and yesterday, Volvo says the coupe's odometer clocked its three-millionth mile. The miracle mile occurred on the Seward Highway in Alaska, one of only two states that Gordon had never visited.
It took the New York native more than 20 years to hit his first million miles in 1987 and another 15 years to achieve two million miles in 2002, but a road trip to Alaska will further cement his place in the record books as the car surpasses three million miles. Gordon has almost doubled the 1.69-million mile distance that helped him win a Guinness Book of World Records title for the most miles logged on an originally owned car, and this new momentous distance proves the durability of both man and machine. For more information on Gordon's feat, scroll down for a Volvo press release or check out a website set up to celebrate his latest milestone.

What's the deal with comedians and their cars?

Mon, May 22 2017

'Round about the time in his life when it should happen for all of us, Jerry Seinfeld's ship came in with a force that almost split the dock. He'd been doing pretty well with his observational style ("There's a cereal now that's just cookies. Have you seen this? Cookies for breakfast. It's called Cookie Crisp. Cookies for breakfast! They oughta just call it 'To Hell With Everything!'"). But he showed no signs of setting the world on fire until he got cast in a show that was either about – depending on the level of comedy geek you ask – the average New Yorker, the very worst people in the world, or nothing. Suddenly Jerry Seinfeld was pretty much the center of the comedy universe. And while his comedy was at once both brilliantly innovative and rooted in the mundane, his next move was a predictable grab at something exotic – he went out and bought his dream car. A rather nice 911, actually. As almost everyone knows, it didn't stop there, and the man put together one of the most enviable collections of iconic Porsches we're likely to see. So what's the connection, if there is one, between cars and comedy? As far as Jerry Seinfeld (the man) is concerned, he's probably not the same guy as the Jerry on Seinfeld (the show) although it's hard to say for sure; his public persona is almost unnervingly well managed. But cars and comedy were the constants in his life then, and, well, just look at what the guy does now; Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is a cultural constant, and we're certainly seeing Seinfeld the man in that one, and cars are obviously still central to his life. And it's been that way with a lot of very, very good comedy guys. Cars seem to round out their lives, to become the yin to their comedy yang. Ernie Kovacs might not have invented visual gags or surreal humor, but he got them both to kill on television in the 1950s, so he's a comedy hero. He died behind the wheel of his beloved Corvair wagon, so he's absolutely some kind of car-guy hero as well. Bill Cosby, the hottest name in comedy for a good long while, had Ferraris, one of two fire-breathing supercharged big-block Cobras (pictured below), and a BMW 2002tii – none of which either contributed to or in any way make up for the profoundly sociopathic creature he turned out to be, but it's still a data point. The Smothers Brothers, who defied the networks and the norms by getting blatantly political before that sort of thing was cool, went sports car racing.
