1981 Volvo Bertone 262c Coupe on 2040-cars
Cincinnati, Ohio, United States
1981 Volvo Bertone 262C 2 door coupe. One of 1900 ever produced. Solid and tight car that I purchased in 1984 from the original owner. The car was the first of its kind in Cincinnati and the first owner was a prominent Cincinnatian. He had it customized in silver (originally black) and had the American-type vinyl roof removed, which avoided the chronic roof rusting under the vinyl
cover. Miles are actual, it runs well and has always been garaged and has been maintained by one of the best Volvo specialists in the area. The body is good , the paint fair, two small rust spots- one on each side behind the rear wheels, Very solid car otherwise. Leather is very nice and I Lexol it twice a year. It can be driven anywhere, tires, brakes, running gear all excellent. Air conditioning needs a shot of freon. I have a spare engine available which was never needed but hey, it's an insurance policy. These were manufactured by Volvo of Sweden but assembled by Bertone in Italy. So you get an unusual car built in Italy but unlike so many Italian cars it has no oil leaks and no electrical problems. Safe as always with Volvo. $500 deposit required from successful bidder within 2 days of sale's end. Transportaion can be arranged at buyer's expense. |

Volvo aligning model range into three families
Thu, 28 Aug 2014Things have been slow in Gothenburg the past few years, but they're picking up speed. The only new model Volvo has released in the past four years since it was taken over by Geely - that being the V40 introduced in 2012 - started its development when the company was still under Ford's umbrella. But now the Swedish automaker is preparing to launch a volley of new models, and the new XC90 is only the starting point.
Volvo has set out to align its product portfolio into three model families - 40, 60 and 90 - each with three body-styles: sedan, wagon and crossover. (Volvo presented a tidy little table, which we've replicated below, to outline what it has in store.) That means a new S40 sedan and XC40 crossover as well as a replacement for the current V40 wagon, all to be based on a new platform shared with Geely. It also means replacements for the current S60, V60 and XC60 to be based on the modular SPA platform that underpins the new XC90, as well as a new S90 sedan to replace the S80 and a new V90 wagon to succeed the V70 and move it up-market above the V60.
All of these models are set to arrive within the next four years as Volvo moves to replace its entire lineup by 2019 and subsequently move to more competitive seven-to-eight-year product life-cycles. But as aggressively as Volvo is pursuing this renewal of its core models, they're not the only things Gothenburg has in store. Keep reading below to learn how Volvo's model line will flesh out over the coming years.
Tony Nicolosi named CEO of Volvo Cars North America
Fri, 04 Oct 2013Volvo announced today that it has named Tony Nicolosi, president and CEO of Volvo Car Financial Services VCFS), as the new CEO of Volvo Cars of North America (VCNA). Nicolosi replaces John Maloney, who chose to leave due to family obligations after Volvo offered him a position in Europe.
Volvo says Nicolosi will remain president and CEO of VCFS while he assumes VCNA's top position. The Swedish automaker also says a "permanent successor [to Maloney] as President and CEO will be the subject of a later announcement."
The move comes as part of a management shakeup that's part of a "larger transformation taking place at Volvo," the automaker says.
Volvo's oldest model earns IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award [w/video]
Thu, 07 Nov 2013Volvo ought to be tooting its horn over this one. The XC90, an SUV that has essentially been on sale for over 10 years, just captured a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The TSP+ is a new title, reserved for cars that earn "Good" or "Acceptable" ratings on each IIHS crash test.
This is a difficult feat for a new car - Toyota's new Corolla infamously failed to net a Top Safety Pick+ earlier this year - largely because of the new small overlap front tests, which have left many automakers struggling. But Volvo, somehow, was able to conquer the tests with a car that predates the original iPhone by a few years. The XC90 earning a Top Safety Pick+ is like Betty White taking the gold in the decathlon. With Volvo in the midst of working on the XC90's replacement, we're curious to see just how well a more modern version does in crash testing. Take a look down below for the crash test video and a press release from IIHS.
