1967 Volvo 123gt, This Is The Real Thing, Wonderful Condition!!! on 2040-cars

This is a REAL 1967 Volvo 123GT. My company, "At Speed Motors" focuses upon investment-level Porsches...but sometimes I come across cars I just can't pass up! This is the real thing, a Volvo 123GT!! Please don't mistake this for the much more common 122/122S or a 123GT Clone...it is none of the above (please note the verification letter from Volvo Cars Belgium)!!! I was on a trek in Europe to purchase several Porsches and found this car stored in the back of the second floor of a Belgium dealer friend of mine. He noted it had been there for years and the layer of dust on the car verified his claim. I recognized the 123GT immediately for what it was and bought it on the spot!! These cars were exceptionally rare with only an estimated 1,500 ever built and were very special from the factory. Changes to the 123GT over the standard 122 were: car was only offered in a 2 door coupe version; the B18 engine was modified at the factory for higher compression and produced more power (115hp); the engine was also fitted with dual SU carburetors; these cars were only delivered with a factory 4 speed manual transmission with electronic overdrive; the factory boosted the front disk braking system to handle the additional speed; the suspension was altered by the factory to be stiffer and more capable of handling the additional power/speed; Recaro seats were fitted from the factory; front driving lights were fitted at the factory as well as a rear fog light; a tachometer was added at the factory to the top of the dash; a special factory steering wheel with 123GT insignia was added along with factory 123 badging and exterior trim. Everything on the car works wonderfully - the engine purrs along, the brakes are strong, suspension is firm, all lights work, the tires are perfect, the spare is untouched, the jack is in place, even the fresh air fan still works!!! The heater valve seems a little stuck as warm air comes in all the time, but I'm sure we'll have that fixed by the end of the auction. Please also take a look at the glass...all correct with original Volvo insignias!! The previous owner installed an aftermarket radio, but I have the original Volvo blockout plate if you want to remove that and put it back the way it should be!! The car was painted years ago according to my Belgium dealer friend (note the excellent color change from the original green), but that paint is still in excellent condition with strong lustre and so few chips one would think it was done last year. As with all 122 bodies, this car had a little rust under the driver/rear passenger floor boards and spare wheel well, but that was repaired when the car was painted. The rest of the underside and body are in excellent condition with no signs of accident damage or additional rust. This is an excellent car in a wonderful period color combination that will be a joy for years to come for the next owner. Given my focus upon Porsches, I wanted to enjoy the car a bit and then move it on to a Volvo person to enjoy. There is no good reason other than that to sell it. Don't miss this car...you would be hard pressed to find a nicer example that has not been restored. Please contact me with any questions at 703-627-9991. Take a look at my 100% rating and bid with full confidence. I stand behind absolutely everything I sell. My thanks, Bob.

Hi. Lots of folks have asked about the VIN stamping that appears up near the cowl on the car. So sorry, I took a picture of it, but it was #25 and eBay only allows 24 pictures. When the car was repainted, they painted over the stamping, but you can still see it underneath. I really don't want to take the paint off at this point since it is so evident. Thus, I'm going to remove a picture and post that for everyone to see. Yes, THIS IS A REAL 123GT!!! The number seen is 133351 M244696. Please call me with any questions at 703-627-9991. Bob

Hi again. The Head of the Volvo 123GT Registry just added the car to his registry. He also inquired as to the engine number of the car. That number is: 4968 60 2221 as stamped on the block. Look, I know the car isn't perfect and doesn't have every single 123GT item as it left the factory, folks... BUT, IT IS HERE IN THE U.S. AND IT IS 100% AUTHENTIC!! Bob

Volvo celebrates 20 years of sleeper wagons with 850 T-5R and V60 Polestar

Mon, 10 Nov 2014

I must have been around Bar Mitzvah age when I was in the back of my parents' car on the highway as we passed a truck full of Volvo 850 T-5R wagons - half of them in black, half in banana yellow. It was one of the coolest things I'd ever seen: a whole gaggle of sleeper power wagons that were infinitely cooler than whatever minivan we were riding in. Hard to believe that was 20 years ago, but it was. And Polestar is understandably keen to mark the anniversary of the first overt Volvo performance wagon.
While Volvo's racing partner hasn't released some commemorative edition to celebrate that prototypical sleeper, it has shot a special batch of photos of the T-5R (based on the 850 wagon internally known as the 855 for its five doors) alongside its modern successor, the V60 Polestar. The images shot in Huntington Beach, CA, only go to show how much has changed in the two decades that separate them.
Whereas this front-drive T-5R packed a turbocharged inline-five driving 240 horsepower through a four-speed automatic propel the yellow box to 62 in 7.0 seconds, the turbo six in the svelter, Rebel Blue-clad 2015 V60 Polestar churns out 350 hp to all four wheels through a six-speed auto for a 4.9-second sprint. That's the kind of progress we can get behind. In fact, it's the sort of progress that everyone can get behind, really, because chances are whatever you're driving will probably have a hard time keeping up.

Then they dish on the cars they've been driving, including the Lexus UX, Lexus GS F and Volvo V90, as well as riding in the new Mercedes-Benz GLS. After that, they ask the question, how many AMG cars is too many? Finally they turn to car buying, and suggest potential vehicles for a shopper on Reddit for the "Spend My Money" segment. Volvo Pure Tension concept folds solar charging pavilion into trunk

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

Even by the 'anything-goes' standards of concept cars, this one is a head-spinner: the "Pure Tension" Volvo V60 Pavilion, commissioned by Volvo Italy and winner of the Pure Volvo Pavilion Design competition. The alien form seen hovering all over the rendered V60 is a pavilion, as in the kind erected for trade shows or outdoor events. Developed by Synthesis Design + Architecture, Buro Happold, and Fabric Images, the pavilion is a flexible mesh structure held in place by a carbon fiber rods.
What's more, the mesh is embedded with photovotaic cells so that the pavilion can absorb energy from the sun or indoor lighting, making it a portable charging station. It can power itself or the crossover, the V60 at the center of it all being a diesel hybrid that plugs straight into the pavilion. When it's time to go, the entire structure can be folded small enough to fit in the trunk of the car.
We're told it will be shown in September in Rome. Even if we never see this particular creation on the streets, it's comfortable proof that our future will eventually be wilder than we can imagine.
