No Reserve 1997 Volvo T-5 Wagon on 2040-cars
West Halifax, Vermont, United States
This T-5 requires some bodywork as it was hit in the rear and the tailgate won't latch, and the right rear quarter panel is a little bent, as well as numerous scratches and dings, but it is solid and has no rust issues. The hood is a replacement and is sprayed flat black. Use it for parts, or with some work it has alot of life left in it. In the last 10,000 miles, the rear coils and shocks were replaced, all four brake rotors were replaced with ventilated discs, new pads and stainless lines, new tailgate struts, new fuel pump, new tie rod. In the last 2,000 miles, the PCV valve was replaced, new Cam seals and valve cover seals, new serpentine belt, new timing belt, 4 new tires, new front ball joints. There is a minor oil leak which my mechanic says is the oil cooler hose which will need replacing. The engine check light is on (Mechanic says is a faulty sensor) and the ABS light is on. The starts and runs great but pulls slightly to the right under heavy braking. The interior leather is in great condition for the age. Panasonic Toughbook laptop with diagnostics included.
As is, where is. |

Volvo Trucks makes some pretty strong brakes
Mon, 05 May 2014Often dashcam footage from Russia shows some of the worst driving imaginable, but this is an exception. The Volvo truck driver in this video definitely earned himself a drink or two at the end of the day after making it through this potentially horrific crash. As do the folks at Volvo that engineered those brakes.
The truck driver shows some fantastic reaction time as the silver hatchback suddenly pulls out of an intersection. It looks like he only has a few yards to bring the behemoth to a stop before demolishing the little car. While it's an impressive feat, the best part of the video has to be the driver's bow when he gets out of the truck. He looks like a maestro who just finished conducting a symphony asking for a round of applause.
Scroll down to check out this truck driver's skills and see if he earns his bow afterward.
Volvo celebrates 20 years since 850 wagons came to BTCC
Wed, 30 Apr 2014This year Honda Yuasa Racing brought a station wagon back to the ranks of competitors in the British Touring Car Championship (its drivers currently sit in third and fifth place in the Championship). In 1994, however, Volvo was the first team to run an estate in the series that's one of the best for delivering close racing.
Rickard Rydell and Jan Lammers drove the duo of 850 Estates prepped by Tom Walkinshaw Racing, lining up at Thruxton and proving that the rumors of a wagon in the series weren't a joke. The team used that year for development, getting the 2.0-liter, 290-horsepower, naturally aspirated five-cylinder engine ready for the next year's proper assault. The team's best finish over the 21 races was a fifth place, and they took 14th overall.
Rules changes led Volvo to switch to the 850 sedan the following year, but all the right noises had been made with the wagon. Rydell drive on to a third-place overall finish in 1995, three years later he claimed the Championship title. You'll find details and reminiscing from Rydell in the press release below, as well as the full video with scenes from the glory days.
2014 Volvo V60 to start at $35,300*
Tue, 31 Dec 2013When Volvo announced US pricing for its updated 2014 model line, it left one vital model out of the equation: that would be the V60, the long-roofed version of the S60 sedan and the long-awaited replacement for the V70 wagon that left our shores nearly four years ago. But if you look at the V60's product page now, you'll see a starting MSRP listed at $35,300. That represents a $2,900 premium over the S60 and an $800 premium over the larger (but older) XC70 softroader.
Delve further into the online configuration tool and you'll see that the price is applied, naturally, to the base turbocharged five-cylinder, front-drive model. Go for the Premier or Platinum trims and the price begins to climb, as it does with the addition of all-wheel drive, the turbo six engine and the R-Design spec. You'll also need to account for the *$915 destination charge. Tick all the boxes and you'll soon be looking at a price tag of over $50,000. Order books open with the start of the new year.
