This car belongs in a collection, or at least someone who will care for it and appreciate what it is! 85,000 original miles, I purchased it from the family of the original owners. (Officially I am the third owner) The car starts, runs and drives very well, the transmission shifts solidly and the motor pulls strong. It is a blast to drive, and very comfortable. All the fluids are clean and as they should be. ALL ORIGINAL, no modifications, Adult driven. Darn near like new. Heated seats work! Equalizer works, OEM Volvo stereo sounds great! Paint is clean and shiny, NO RUST. VIN is YV1GX8740G2004711.
Original window sticker and many service records, here is what has recently been replaced: Timing belt and water pump at 83,000 miles Front Brake pads Brake Flush and Fluid Trans Filter and Fluid Oil Filter and Oil change (Mobil 1) Coolant Flush New OEM Volvo exhaust (converter back) installed at the local Volvo dealership Here are the "opportunities": Right rear window switch does not work (window motor is tested and works perfectly when a different switch is swapped in place) Power antenna does not operate (will go up and down manually) but radio picks up all stations just fine. Driver's seat power recline (motor works, gears are misaligned) Small rip in rear leather seat (repair kit will be included with sale) Tear in drivers shoulder belt (See pictures please) Air conditioning has been unplugged at the belt removed from compressor (the car did not have functioning AC when I purchased it) I do have some R12 that will be included with the sale It seems as if there is trim around the sunroof and headliner that is missing (headliner looks to be new and is in great shape) I tried to take pictures to show, but honestly does not look bad. Some cracking on the dash - please refer to pictures. I have done by best to accurately and honestly describe this automobile, if you have any questions please ask! I will do my best to take any pictures you request within reason (if you have serious intent to bid). No warranties or guarantees or any kind, this is an AS-IS sale. Please ask questions! If you are local and would like to see the car prior to bidding please contact me. No reserve auction. Prefer not to ship, but please contact me before auction end to discuss. I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime, for any reason. |

Volvo vows to charge subscriptions only for major updates
Sun, Dec 25 2022Volvo Cars Chief Operating Officer Bjorn Annwall  BMW veered into a public-relations mess this year when it started charging car owners monthly subscription fees to warm their behinds. Volvo Car won’t be making similar moves. “If you are to charge for software updates, it must be a step change in consumer benefit,” VolvoÂ’s Chief Operating Officer Bjorn Annwall said in an interview this month. “We will not ask people who have bought a car for 1 million kronor ($96,500) to pay another 10 kronor to get extra heat in the seat.” While BMW will no doubt have other manufacturers follow in its footsteps — Mercedes-Benz recently started asking buyers of its EQ electric vehicles to fork over $1,200 a year to unlock quicker acceleration, for example — the auto world has started to second-guess just how much money there is to be made from the rise of software within their hardware-intensive business. In a 91-page deep dive into the topic last month, analysts at UBS pegged the total addressable market at $700 billion by 2030. ThatÂ’s no pittance, but pales in comparison to the $2 trillion opportunity they anticipated previously. Annwall sees Volvo generating little additional revenue from software until mid-decade. Only if major upgrades become available — a self-driving mode, for example — would Volvo charge extra. “You donÂ’t have to hold the steering wheel — now thatÂ’s a step change in user benefit.” Annwall was speaking at the opening of VolvoÂ’s new tech hub in Stockholm, where the manufacturer builds software for selling and marketing cars online. The company, which last month unveiled a battery-powered sport utility vehicle to succeed its gasoline-era flagship, intends to cease making combustion cars by the end of the decade. ItÂ’s going to be an uphill push: EVs made up just under a fifth of the companyÂ’s shipments last month. Bloomberg spoke with Annwall about VolvoÂ’s tech efforts, the software issues that have plagued some of its competitors and the ongoing supply-chain issues holding back the industry. Here are highlights from the conversation, which have been edited for length and clarity: Large automakers including Volkswagen have had problems with their car software. Have you experienced similar obstacles? I wonÂ’t hide the fact that we have had some problems with our software in the car as well. But weÂ’ve been good at correcting them fairly quickly.
LOLVO Volvo V60 video leverages the power of cats on cars
Wed, 02 Jul 2014You know what we haven't posted in a long time? A very weird, car-related video. It's high time we address this failing.
As strange videos go, this one is truly bizarre. The two-minute clip focuses on the Volvo V60 R-Design, although you're not going to be learning anything about the car. Instead, you're going to be focused on the weird narrator (and the cat decals on the windows).
It's like someone taught the Swedish Chef to speak English, but with a ridiculous accent and a script that's been fed through Google Translate. The result is a weirdly cerebral voice speaking in a manner that borders on gibberish mixed with information about the car. We're particularly fond of, "In accordance with Volvo tradition... the car... is... of course... furnished, with an inside." "Floor bibs," in reference to the floor mats, was an office favorite, as well.
