Volvo 240 Clean Noo Rust, No Reserve, Low Mileage, Southern Car, 5speed Optional on 2040-cars
Batavia, Illinois, United States
Im selling a black original two owner w/no accidents(clean carfax) 1988 volvo 240 sedan 98,000miles, im a Volvo tech and I buy 240's fix the little issues (I keep them as original as possible) they have and resell them as a side project, as you may know since your looking at this add the 240 is one of the most reliable Volvo model ever made its a very dependable and a safe car and I have seen them hit 300,000 miles, I love them and love working on them they are very easy to repair anyone can fix them w/ a manual even though this one needs no work , the Volvo has the following options and new oem parts: automatic transmission, manual windows and mirrors( I prefer manual they never break) it has a rubber under coating (ultra seal) not from factory (solid floor boards no rust), tan cloth clean interior, new leather front custom seat covers, new brakes, new rebuilt alternator, radiator, new rubber trim on windows, all the trim is present, new corner marker lights, new bulbs, fresh tune up, new fluids, new belts, new front struts and rear springs, alignment, a/c (blows cold), pioneer head cd player (I have the original Volvo player if you want it) upgraded ken-wood front and rear speakers(rear speakers were added), rear headrest (added) ,heated front seats, timing belt was done in June of 2011. The 240 Runs great, drives straight, suspension is tight, brakes work properly, tires have 75%life (hubcaps have been replaced since pics w/ nicer oem hubcaps in great shape) ( I have a set of winter wheels and tires w/ 3k on them if interested) the engine runs strong and quiet (does not burn oil), auto trans shifts great, heat blows hot, I also have a manual trans w/ all the parts needed to make it a manual if your interested (sold separately) no mechanical issues there is NO RUST, the Volvo is a southern car from Mississippi garage kept. The interior is in pretty good condition I would give it a 7 out of 10 the dash has cracks and has a cover that looks good, the front seats were a little faded so I installed custom seat covers ( I think they look pretty good surprisingly) I vacuumed the car out and detailed it but I would recommend a pro detail job they always make a interior look new, the body is in great shape I give it a 9 out of 10 there are a couple dents(nothing major lily noticeable) but the body is still very straight the paint looks amazing I can believe its original paint it still shines like new NO rust the floor boards are in great shape as are the rear wheel wells the (normal rust areas), the doors are also solid at the corners and lower inner and outer areas, the trims rubber is in good shape its not dry rotted the previous owners took great care of it. Some negatives about the Volvo that I could find is the driver door is missing the inner door handle trim ($20 online), the windshield has a crack ( I was quoted $150) but that's it. The car is a overall great running and looking car it starts up w/ no hesitation first cranck every time very dependable I would not hesitate to take it on a long distance trip today. I reserve the right to end the auction early I am selling this car on other sites, buyer is responsible for shipping a $500 deposit is required w/ in 24hours of the auctions ending the rest will be due in person cash only no checks, I don't live close to the airport and I will not pick up buyers from it. I am very confident in this 240 the car speaks for itself if you anything about volvo 240s you know that they are dependable reliable cars and rarely need major work thats why I love them great design from factory, if you are not satisfied w/ it when you come and pick it up I will refund your money. Thanks for looking at my Volvo.

2020 Volvo XC90 Inscription Interior Driveway Test | A lesson in minimalist luxury
Thu, Sep 10 2020We tend to love Volvo interiors. They’re beautiful, simple, inviting and a relaxing place to spend time in. Designers needed to get it right, too, because Volvo has applied the same styling and design language to every vehicle in its lineup. WeÂ’re focusing on the flagship today: the 2020 Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription. Since our tester is the Inscription trim, that means itÂ’s the most luxurious version of the bunch (Momentum and R-Line are the two others). Some highlights include perforated Nappa leather seats, a “tailored dashboard,” Gray Ash Wood trim inlays and the Orrefors crystal shift knob. Our car had the Charcoal interior scheme to play along nicely with the trim. The contrast between the light wood trim and gray stitching with the black leather is pleasing to the eye. Volvo uses a gratuitous but not overwhelming amount of piano black trim to bring some shine to the interior. ItÂ’s nice to see and touch on the buttons, but gets dirty quickly around the flat gear lever area where dust tends to collect. Much of the dash is left blank in a nod to minimalism. WeÂ’re left with a large nine-inch touchscreen oriented vertically in the center, just like every other Volvo on sale today. This is flanked by the center air vents. ThereÂ’s little to no styling going on with the vents, which seems like a missed opportunity. Regardless, we dig the layered and nicely-stitched dash that comes with the Inscription model. Also nestled into the dash is this crossoverÂ’s 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. ItÂ’s basic in its visuals, but plenty effective at conveying important car information. We like the more vibrant and customizable clusters from Mercedes-Benz and Audi a lot, but this one gets the job done and it isnÂ’t distracting in the least bit. Volvo has your back when it comes to comfort. Our tester has the Luxury Package, so itÂ’s equipped with massaging front seats, heated rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Additionally, Volvo finishes the headliner in Nubuck, and the grab handles and visors get leather. Unlike everybody else, Volvo allows you to choose between three levels of heat for the steering wheel. ItÂ’s noticeable to our hands, and is great when you want to add a little heat into your fingers without being scalded. As for the massage, itÂ’s backrest only. We wish it was back and bottom, but at least the programs available for your back are soothing.
NHTSA, IIHS, and 20 automakers to make auto braking standard by 2022
Thu, Mar 17 2016The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and virtually every automaker in the US domestic market have announced a pact to make automatic emergency braking standard by 2022. Here's the full rundown of companies involved: BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo (not to mention the brands that fall under each automaker's respective umbrella). Like we reported yesterday, AEB will be as ubiquitous in the future as traction and stability control are today. But the thing to note here is that this is not a governmental mandate. It's truly an agreement between automakers and the government, a fact that NHTSA claims will lead to widespread adoption three years sooner than a formal rule. That fact in itself should prevent up to 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries. The agreement will come into effect in two waves. For the majority of vehicles on the road – those with gross vehicle weights below 8,500 pounds – AEB will need to be standard equipment by September 1, 2022. Vehicles between 8,501 and 10,000 pounds will have an extra three years to offer AEB. "It's an exciting time for vehicle safety. By proactively making emergency braking systems standard equipment on their vehicles, these 20 automakers will help prevent thousands of crashes and save lives," said Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx said in an official statement. "It's a win for safety and a win for consumers." Read on for the official press release from NHTSA. Automakers making the commitment are Audi, BMW, FCA US LLC, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla Motors Inc., Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo Car USA.
Volvo won't go after S-Class, 7 Series market
Mon, 22 Apr 2013Volvo vice president of powertrain engineering, Derek Crabb, recently said that the Swedish automaker is developing smaller and smarter powertrain options that will "turn V8s into dinosaurs" - a statement that could have been our first indication that Volvo is no longer looking to create a luxury flagship sedan to take on German land yachts like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series. Now Automotive News seems to be backing this up after speaking with CEO Hakan Samuelsson, who said that a big sedan wouldn't fit the brand's green image and, more importantly, might not even be a car that its customers would even consider.
Rather than trying to compete in a small, established market against rear-drive, 12-cylinder sedans, Volvo is looking at the emerging, higher-volume premium small car segment to take on its German rivals with the all-new Volvo V40 (shown above). Not wanting to abandon the big-vehicle segment altogether, a next-generation XC90 is due out within the next couple years (and was spotted in some recent spy shots), and it will ride on the new Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA), which will be shared with the new S80 according to the AN article.
