1985 Volvo 245 GL

Up for auction is my Volvo Station wagon.
This vehicle has never let me down and currently my daily driver.
5 speed manual with the button for 5th gear.
Runs great!
It does have some issues though..
(PLEASE SEE THE SELLER'S NOTES FOR FULL DETAILS)
The biggest being the throw out bearing. It recently went bad, so now when you press the clutch to change gears, the car will vibrate.
Another thing to note is that, just recently as well, the drive shaft makes a clicking noise when you come to a complete stop. It may be related to the throw out bearing but I am no mechanic to tell you if it is or not. Other than that, it has been and still is a reliable vehicle. I use it everyday to get to work and back and roughly put in 30 miles a day. Although engine idles great, it is due for a complete tuneup. Will need a new set of tires but the tires that are on now  will due for the meantime. This Volvo gets approximately 25 miles to the gallon and, to this day, has never leaked a drop of oil. Volvo passed smog, I believe in January 2012, with flying colors!
The 1st owner, although I have no receipts to back it up, told me he had the motor mounts and timing replaced a few years back before selling the vehicle to me in December of 2011.
He also had the vehicle painted gray, silver being the original color.
Everything on the dash works including the clock and still has the original drivers and passengers door plastic rack for papers etc. Passengers rack is a little cracked but in good condition.
I personally give the engine a 9, paint job an 7, interior an 8 and the exterior a 8 on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being great.

This vehicle needs somebody that will care for her as she is not ready to go to the junkyard.

Please note that I will still be driving this vehicle on a daily basis so do expect the mileage to be a little higher than what it shows on the picture. If the reserve price is meet or you decide to Buy It Now, the Volvo will no longer be driven and will stay on my driveway until pick up day.

Thank you so much for your interest and happy bidding!

Volvo introduces 2022 C40 Recharge crossover, announces all EV sales will be online-only

Tue, Mar 2 2021

Volvo plans to become an electric car brand, with EVs making up half of sales by 2025, and all sales by 2030. Volvo has now also announced that as part of its electric future, it will move all vehicle sales to online-only, and will expand its customer services. The first car to be sold online-only will be the all-electric C40 Recharge, which the company showed off in a sneak peek during in the “Volvo Moment: Recharge” video above. The 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge is a fastback-style “crossover coupe” with an upright stance. It features a 78-kilowatt-hour battery providing 260 miles of range, according to Volvo. With electric motors front and rear, it'll do 0-62 miles per hour in 4.9 seconds. Volvo claims a 0-80% charge in 40 minutes. It will be VolvoÂ’s second car (after the XC40 Recharge) using the Google Android Automotive Operating System for its infotainment, much like that introduced on the Polestar 2. The C40 will also be completely leather-free, signaling a move away from leather for all Volvos in the future. To begin, the Volvo C40 Recharge is available for order online at Volvo Studios in New York, Milan and Tokyo. Volvo C40 Recharge View 35 Photos Along with sales going completely online, Volvo will expand its Care by Volvo program beyond vehicle subscriptions to offer a complete care package. Customers can enjoy greater convenience, with the package covering insurance, warranty, maintenance, roadside assistance and even home charging options. Volvo cars can still be custom ordered, but it will also offer a number of pre-configured packages for faster delivery of its vehicles to customers. Pricing will be pre-fixed, removing the need for haggling with a dealer and wondering if youÂ’re getting the best price for your vehicle. Dealers arenÂ’t being put out to pasture, though; Volvo says its retail partners “remain a crucial part of the customer experience and will continue to be responsible for a variety of important services such as selling, preparing, delivering and servicing cars.” Volvo intends to become fully climate neutral by 2040. To help with that, it will adopt some of the same practices as spinoff brand Polestar, by enacting full transparency in its supply chain, and using blockchain technology for sensitive raw materials like cobalt. Volvo will also perform on-the-ground audits to ensure everythingÂ’s on the up-and-up in its supply chain. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.

Volvo details new drive assist features for next XC90 and future models [w/video]

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Volvo wants us to know what kinds of new technology will be under the sheetmetal of the offerings that will sit on its Scalable Platform Architecture, the first of which will be included on the 2015 Volvo XC90 arriving at the end of next year. The silicon-chip onslaught starts with detection and auto braking for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and large animals. The company's animal detection tech now works at night thanks to better cameras and exposure controls.
Also due for the high-riding wagon are road edge and barrier detection with steer assist, a setup that identifies the edge of the road - even ones without markings. The system can steer the car back into its lane if it detects the driver is about to leave the road or collide with a barrier. Adaptive cruise control with steer assist allows the car to not only follow the flow of traffic on a straight road, but steer itself automatically.
Beyond that, the company is planning on other safety advances, but these will rely on automaker cooperation and infrastructure upgrades. Volvo has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Car 2 Car Communication Consortium on the subject of standards for communication between cars and wants to have it implemented by 2016. Sensors in traffic lights will enable Green Light Optimum Speed Advisory, which tells a driver how fast to go on a give stretch of road so as not to hit a red light. Weather, road condition, road works and emergency vehicle warnings will also inform drivers of new developments on the road. And autonomous parking, which Volvo has already demonstrated, stands to put a lot of valets out of work since it allows the car to find its own parking space without a driver inside.

Apple CarPlay drawing early safety concerns [w/video]

Sun, 09 Mar 2014

Apple's CarPlay infotainment system hasn't made it into a single vehicle yet, and it's already drawing criticism for distracting drivers among safety advocates. The new tech unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show pairs users' iPhones with the car's dashboard display to make calls, dictate messages and listen to music. Some automakers, like Volvo, also let users interact with the HVAC system from the screen.
"The idea that people want to be on their phones, and therefore let's give them a way to do that -- that's not putting safety first, that's putting convenience and the desire to be in touch first," said Bruce Hamilton, manager of research and communications at the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, to CNN Money.
Distracted driving is a huge concern on modern roads with more vehicles allowing drivers to use their smartphones through Bluetooth and infotainment systems. A Texas A&M study found that drivers' reaction time doubled while dictating text messages, according to CNN Money. The new tech is certainly not making drivers pay more attention.
