This is a 1987 Volvo DL. 4 speed automatic transmission I purchased going on 8 years ago from a Volvo mechanic and have used it as an everyday driver. The body is in fair condition , no visible dents, some scratches, rust on bottom of side panels, a few pieces of trim missing, normal paint oxidation. Engine and transmission run great, however there are oil leak/pressure problems. Car failed Pennsylvania state inspection on 7/28/2013. I am no mechanic but this is what I know or been told it needs.

Engine has oil pressure/leak issues but starts and runs.
Tail brake lights do not work (Mechanic thinks it's a circuit board issue in the light panels themselves.
Under carriage is severely rusted.

Odometer does not work, but because of the cars age, that is not a problem for inspection/registration (at least in the state of PA) The odometer reads 97680 miles but I've probably put another 30,000 miles on it since I've been using it, so total miles around 127680.
Small crack in windshield out of vision field & Behind rear view mirror.
Interior hard plastic door pockets are cracked on passenger side.
Dashboard vinyl is cracked.
A/C was upgraded but coolant charge seems to run out quickly.

New All Season Radial Tires
Heated Seats work
Headlights work
Blinkers work
Windshield wipers work.
Water pump was just replaced and working.

This car is perfect for Volvo Lovers who enjoy this model and are into fixing them up.

Volvo studying test of electric roads in Sweden

Tue, 27 May 2014

Volvo already announced the results of a study of wireless charging using a stationary C30, and now it's embarking on a more ambitious study of wireless charging involving moving city buses. Next year, in conjunction with the Swedish Transport Association, Volvo will build a section of electric road up to 500 meters long that would use inductive charging to refill the batteries while the bus drives over it.
Right now, the company's Hyper Bus diesel hybrid has to stop to plug in and charge at the end of its route. The company is looking for a way to keep buses in service while being able to run on electric power for greater lengths of time. The new line used for the study will be called ElectriCity, and will come online in central Gothenburg sometime in 2015. There's a press release below with more information.

Scratch that new crossover, Volvo teases ad campaign for XC60

Sun, 26 May 2013

If we were to paraphrase the opening lines of Kenneth Graeme's Wind in the Willows for our own purposes, we'd write, "Have you heard about Volvo? They never planned a new crossover at all. It was all a horrid low trick of theirs...." To be fair, though, we can't blame them for our own presumption. When the Swedish car company created a site called LeaveTheWorldBehind.com and teased a couple of videos for some kind of collaboration with Swedish House Mafia, we thought the crossover in one of the teasers pointed to a new vehicle on the way.
Turns out that's not the case. It really is 'just' a collaboration with the band on a music video for Swedish artist Lune's cover of their 2009 song, Leave the World Behind.
But there are Volvos in it, and you can watch it below and hear original song alongside. We've also included the press release with more details on why it all came together, and a behind-the-scenes video on the collabo. To paraphrase Forrest Gump, "That's all we have to say about that."
