1993 Volvo 240 Sedan Black on 2040-cars
Denver, Colorado, United States
1993 Volvo 240 sedan Moving abroad for a year and selling both of my Volvo's. Both daily drivers and both very reliable, anywhere at ANYTIME.......doesn't matter what mother nature brings upon it she will always crank. Not the fastest nor prettiest but one of the safest and legendary for its durability and it gets decent fuel economy. Thick sheet metal make it durable--so is the motor. Volvo took a V8 truck engine cut in half, to make this 4 cylinder engine. It has bearings and rods are designed for much heavy loads and this makes the engine nearly impossible to kill. People can get literally a million miles between rebuilds with regular oil changes and normal preventative maintenance. Parts are cheap, and they are easy and simple to work on and most importantly, Police don't ever pull them over! Finally, they are safe--built around a full roll cage. These are the reasons why there are so many still on the road today. Many dads buy these cars for their daughters, because they are safe. A symbol of Swedish design and engineering, nothing even comes close.... When Volvo released the 240, they guaranteed it to last 19.4 years, something on heard of at the time. Produced from 1974 to 1993, with more than 2.8 million units sold worldwide. Comes with a timing belt kit, new set of quality Brembo brakes, ATE brake pads, and a tune up kit. All of these brand new in Box and came directly from IPD There is a big dent on the rear driver side. However, It does not affect the operation or safety of the vehicle Comes with lots of extras inkling: Extra set of almost brand new snow / winter tires mounted on genuine Volvo black steel rims. comes with a set of 4 Yokohama Avid touring tires only 2 years old and lots of tread still. It also came with a different color door, which is a big eye sore, but I ordered another one and its on its way. |

Next-generation Volvo XC90 interior revealed
Tue, 27 May 2014Volvo has officially kicked off the slow burn that will lead to the eventual unveiling of the next-generation XC90, in August. Its initial foray into the public eye will be with these, a series of 20 images of the new three-row SUVs interior, which is very, very Swedish (there are even the most adorable little Swedish flags on the seats).
In all, it looks like a positively sumptuous place to sit, with sharp looking woods and a crystal shifter, crafted by Orrefors Glassworks in Sweden. It's a clean, minimalist design that we imagine will age quite nicely.
Featured quite prominently - and the main part of the cabin that doesn't strike us as minimalist - is the very large touchscreen. Aligned in a portrait layout, which hasn't been done by too many automakers, it will be home to a new type of infotainment system that will make its debut in Volvo's flagship SUV. It also looks like we can expect digital gauges when the XC90 finally arrives.

Volvo won't go after S-Class, 7 Series market
Mon, 22 Apr 2013Volvo vice president of powertrain engineering, Derek Crabb, recently said that the Swedish automaker is developing smaller and smarter powertrain options that will "turn V8s into dinosaurs" - a statement that could have been our first indication that Volvo is no longer looking to create a luxury flagship sedan to take on German land yachts like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7 Series. Now Automotive News seems to be backing this up after speaking with CEO Hakan Samuelsson, who said that a big sedan wouldn't fit the brand's green image and, more importantly, might not even be a car that its customers would even consider.
Rather than trying to compete in a small, established market against rear-drive, 12-cylinder sedans, Volvo is looking at the emerging, higher-volume premium small car segment to take on its German rivals with the all-new Volvo V40 (shown above). Not wanting to abandon the big-vehicle segment altogether, a next-generation XC90 is due out within the next couple years (and was spotted in some recent spy shots), and it will ride on the new Scalable Platform Architecture (SPA), which will be shared with the new S80 according to the AN article.
