1993 Volvo 240 Base Sedan 4-door 2.3l on 2040-cars
Farmingdale, New York, United States
Your looking at a one owner 1993 Volvo 240. Purchased new by my sister. Car is in very good condition. Low mileage for a 240 as these cars typically run into 3K. Always serviced by the Volvo dealer. Everything works with the exception of the radio. If desired I can have a AM-FM CD player installed before pick up for $250 additional. Anti theft keypad installed at dealer before delivery. AC and oil change just done this week. Exhaust replaced recently. No rust or body damage. Couple of nicks on hood and one small scratch on passenger side fender. Tires are ok but will need replacing in the not to distant future. Paint shines very nicely. My sister is a fanatic with her vehicles and it shows with the condition of this car. If your looking at this car you probably know the reputation these 240's have for there reliability and safety. This car is built like a tank. I don't think the spare was ever on the ground.I would have no problem driving this car anywhere. I encourage you to come take a look or send someone to inspect. Please ask all questions before bidding. Good luck.
On May-09-14 at 16:52:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry to those that had bid on the car. I had somehow listed the car as a 1990. It is a 1993 Volvo 240. I did not want to mislead anyone so I ended the listing and relisted with the correct year. Sorry for the confusion. |

Volvo calls in S60 T5 over oil pressure indicator
Mon, 30 Dec 2013As anyone with a driver's license should be able to tell you, the oil pressure indicator on a car is a vital feature. If you don't have enough oil pressure, your engine could seize up, leaving you stranded and causing catastrophic damage for both your automobile and your wallet. Worryingly, then, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that the oil pressure indicator lamp on certain Volvo S60 models is prone to failure, prompting the manufacturer to issue a recall.
The issue pertains to MY2011-2012 Volvo S60s with turbocharged five-cylinder engines manufactured between June 22, 2010 and May 14, 2012. All told, precisely 30,929 units are affected by the recall campaign. The owners of affected models will be notified by Volvo to bring in their cars to their local dealer for a software update. See the official notice below for details.
Volvo building new AstaZero safety proving ground in Sweden
Mon, 25 Aug 2014Volvo is an automaker committed to vehicle safety, setting an ambitious target for itself: by 2020, the Swedish automaker envisions that no one will be killed or seriously injured in one of its cars. In order to achieve that goal, Volvo has announced a new proving ground designed specifically to test safety solutions.
Called AstaZero, the new facility near the company's headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden, is the result of a $70 million investment. It will cover some 500 acres, with over 60 acres of pavement, four city blocks and three and a half miles of highway. The Active Safety Test Area (the ASTA in AstaZero) will enable Volvo and its partners (including Scania trucks as well as government bodies and university development programs) to simulate city streets, highways, rural roads, roundabouts, T-junctions and more, combining traffic from cars, pedestrians, bicycles, motorcycles, buses, trucks and even animals in order to account for all manner of potential hazards.
The facility will enable Volvo to test active safety systems and autonomous vehicle operations, and even allow robots to test its prototypes in an adaptive environment that aims to be more flexible than existing proving grounds. Volvo and Ericsson to take Spotify on the road
Thu, 27 Dec 2012Volvo is working to bring Spotify to its vehicles. Ericsson has announced it will provide its Connected Vehicle Cloud service to Volvo for future products, and Spotify streaming music is part of that service. Like Toyota Entune and other infotainment services, the Connected Vehicle Cloud will use the driver's smartphone as a modem to stream music and serve as a base for other applications, all of which will be controllable through the vehicle interface. Expect to see the service launch in 2014, though Ericsson stresses later generations will feature an embedded modem with its own SIM card that will piggyback off of the owner's phone data plan.
But that system won't show up in production vehicles until at least 2016. In the interim, Ericsson says it will continue to work with government agencies on its car-to-car communication efforts. That program could eventually help pave the way toward autonomous road trains capable of helping vehicles travel safely together while also reducing traffic congestion. Wired has a full break down of the Connected Vehicle Cloud strategy. You can read it here.
