This is a 1992 Volvo 240. It's a solid dependable car with good points and not so good points. Please allow me to detail everything I know:

Good points:

1. Engine seems to run very well

2. Transmission seems to shift smoothly and properly

3. No visible fluid leaks or smoke

4. Power windows and power locks all work; headlights and taillights are not cracked and they work.

5. This is a non-turbo 2.3cyl so it gets really great gas mileage.

Not so good points:

1. The blower motor for the heat and A/C does not come on. I do not know why. It could be a fuse or it could need a new blower motor; it has not been diagnosed by a technician yet.

2. The freon has leaked out of the A/C system. I do not know why.

3. The odometer stopped working at 152K miles so the actual mileage is unknown. My guess is that it is around 175K-200K but I can not say for sure. The other instrument cluster functions--such as the speedometer and fuel gauge--still work fine.

4. The tires are not great and should probably be replaced. In addition, the spare is currently mounted on the car because of a blowout of one of the tires.

5. The interior is is need of a thorough cleaning.

6. The paint or clear coat on the roof and the trunk lid has oxidized.

7. The radio antenna should be replaced. The radio does not work because it needs a code and I can't find the code.

8. The grill should probably be replaced since the bottom mounting tabs are broken off and the Volvo sticker is missing from the middle.

9. We haven't been driving it alot lately and the battery seems a little weak as a result. Also, I left the lights on the other day which made it go partially dead. I jump started it and drove it for a day and it seems basically fine but it seems a little weak when starting. It should probably be tested and/or replaced. I noticed that when I jumped it off it started super powerfully but when I went to start it today it started fine but it was a little weaker than when I started it with jumper cables attached. So I think the battery should be checked out. Once started it runs fine of course; it just seems a little weaker than maybe it should be when you go to start it.

10. There are two small rock chips in the windshield. Neither one is in the driver's view path and neither one has spread beyond a tiny starburst.

11. Many little trim pieces both inside and out are damaged or missing and there are various dents or damage to be found in various spots around the car. The car has at least average wear and tear for the year, possibly above average. I don't really feel like listing every dent, scratch and missing or damaged trim piece but you will find several throughout the car.

The bottom line is this: it's a solid dependable car that runs and drives well. The outstanding issues do not prevent the car from being driven across the country right now. The really important stuff is working fine. With a little bit of investment this could be a very nice car again.

There is a $300 deposit due immediately via Paypal in order to end the auction. The remaining $1000 is due in cash when you pick up the car. I am giving you 31 calendar days after ending the auction to pick up the car and pay the remaining balance of $1000 in cash. If the car is not picked up within 31 days of the auction close the $300 deposit will be forfeited. There are no exceptions to this policy so please do not use Buy-it-Now until you are confident that you can pick up the car within 31 days and pay the remaining balance of $1000 in cash.

If you are a Georgia resident please contact me before using buy-it-now since there are new tax laws we need to discuss.

Lastly, it may go without saying but this car is sold AS-IS with no warranties of any kind expressed or implied. I am not warranting any aspect of this vehicle's operation or condition. I have attempted to tell you everything I know about the car but I am not an automotive technician and the vehicle has not been inspected by one prior to the sale. Your purchase of the car implies your agreement with these statements.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Season 9 of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee teases us with BMWs and Volvos

Thu, Dec 22 2016

Jerry Seinfeld's successful online show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee is heading into its ninth season, returning January 5th. It should be no surprise that the list of actors and comedians is impressive, with Kristen Wiig, Christoph Waltz, and more making appearances. Seinfeld has lined up an equally impressive list of cars for the new season. Porsche, BMW, and Volvo all have beautiful machines lined up to shuttle Seinfeld and his guest to different coffee shops. As always, it's a mix of light humor packed into a relatively short and, most importantly, free video. Catch up on the previous eight seasons now on Crackle. China's Geely buying majority stake in Lotus

Wed, May 24 2017

Geely, the Hong Kong car company that owns Volvo, is acquiring control of British car company Lotus. Geely is purchasing a 51-percent stake in Lotus from struggling Malaysian car company Proton, and a 49.9 percent stake in Proton itself. Etika Automotive will gain the other 49 percent of Lotus. France's PSA Group and Japan's Suzuki had apparently also been interested in acquiring Proton. Geely says it plans to revive both Proton and Lotus. "The agreement lays the foundation for a wider framework for both Geely Holding, Proton and Lotus to explore joint synergies in areas such as research and development, manufacturing and market presence," Geely said in a news release. Those joint synergies will be highlighted by the lightweight chassis technology Lotus is known for, which could help Geely improve fuel efficiency. Geely CFO Daniel Donghui Li said the company aims to "unleash the full potential of Lotus Cars" by expanding and accelerating new products and technologies. Proton was nationally held but was privatized in 2007 to Malaysian conglomerate DRB-Hicom, which is owned by tycoon Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary. It was supposed to be the flagship for Malaysia's economic development.Though it owns two factories, Proton mainly rebadges foreign-made cars and sells them in Malaysia. What it has, what Geely presumably wants, is a distribution network in Southeast Asia to pit Chinese cars against Japanese automotive dominance in the region. Retaining a 50.1-percent stake in Proton is seen as a face-saving move. "Proton will always remain a national car and a source of pride, as Proton will still have a majority hold of 50.1 percent," Malaysian finance official Johari Abdul Ghani said. "Our very own much-loved brand now has a real chance in making a comeback, a huge one I hope." Related Video:
