You are looking at a classic TANK!
This 1984 Volvo 240GLT or (244GLT) turbo is a Sherman tank. It is the 2nd time I have owned it and its in great condition as I have in the last year put almost $2,000 into it. (please see the pic of one of the receipts). The car is rare in that it is a TURBO INTER-COOLER 4 speed trans with electronic overdrive (the button in the middle of the shiftier). Everything on the car works! The car is in the Volvo high mileage club! It has 329K and if you are a Volvo person this does not scare you especially with all the maintenance records I have to prove how well kept the car has been. I have maintenance records dating back to 1992! The car has new leather interior, virgo turbo wheels, and Super clean vinyl headliner. It has a nice aftermarket Keenwood CD player, Moon roof (does not leak). Tires are about 80% and all gauges in the car work including the clock! It has factory A/C and the heat will run you out of the car! The body is in good shape with NO rust anywhere! The paint is the paint from the factory so it is pretty good but not perfect. The trunk is the worst (see pics) It is "spider webbed" It is really the only part of the car that NEEDS painting. There are some scratches and dull spots in other places (again factory 1984 paint) but a nice Buffing would bring it back to life! The car is awesome! FYI-It will MOVE ON too! There are not many of these out there especially as nice as this one! Volvo rolls out new R-Design versions of S60, XC60 and new V60
Wed, 27 Mar 2013Volvo has put together R-Design packages for its newly facelifted S60, V60 and XC60 models, and for those who want more bark to go with them, there's a power upgrade for the S60 and V60 courtesy of Polestar performance. The aesthetics start with new front and rear fascias, the grille going frameless and Tech Matte Black with a silk metal diagonal bar, the back end getting a finned diffuser and round R-Design tailpipes. On top of that, the S60 and V60 are lowered 15 millimeters and can be fitted with 19-inch versions of the company's Ixion wheel pattern.
The R-Design sport chassis stiffens things up, items like the rear dampers getting 20-percent stiffer while front bushings get a whopping 400-percent stiffer. Inside there's a black headliner, perforated leather mixed with nubuck and contrasting stitching on the sport seats, or a full leather option for those who love their cow, and the Adaptive Digital Display gets a blue hue when set to the Elegance appearance theme.
Buyers of the 3.0-liter T6 engine can add the Polestar performance option, which cranks things up to 329 horsepower instead of the standard 304 hp, and an exclusive accelerator pedal comes with it. More detail can be found in the press release below.
Volvo and Ericsson to take Spotify on the road
Thu, 27 Dec 2012Volvo is working to bring Spotify to its vehicles. Ericsson has announced it will provide its Connected Vehicle Cloud service to Volvo for future products, and Spotify streaming music is part of that service. Like Toyota Entune and other infotainment services, the Connected Vehicle Cloud will use the driver's smartphone as a modem to stream music and serve as a base for other applications, all of which will be controllable through the vehicle interface. Expect to see the service launch in 2014, though Ericsson stresses later generations will feature an embedded modem with its own SIM card that will piggyback off of the owner's phone data plan.
But that system won't show up in production vehicles until at least 2016. In the interim, Ericsson says it will continue to work with government agencies on its car-to-car communication efforts. That program could eventually help pave the way toward autonomous road trains capable of helping vehicles travel safely together while also reducing traffic congestion. Jaguar turns down offers to join V8 Supercars, questions AMG, Volvo participation
Thu, 27 Jun 2013Rumors have swirled in recent weeks that Jaguar may be the next manufacturer to join the V8 Supercars racing series, made popular in Australia but now well-known in other parts of the world as well. Sadly, Jag's participation is not to be. In fact, it would be "insane," according to Jaguar Land Rover Asia Pacific Managing Director David Blackhall, for it to accept either of the two offers it has received to bring Jaguar into V8 Supercars.
Not only is Jaguar not interested in entering V8 Supercars, says Blackhall, it also fails to understand the recent entries from AMG and Volvo. "I don't know what it does for AMG to get flogged by a V8 Commodore week after week, but it's their brand, their issue. And the same thing will happen to Volvo to be honest."
Judging by Blackhall's statements to motoring.com.au, after not-so-serious consideration, the automaker decided the monetary commitment it would take to compete for wins would be more than any potential exposure would be worth, despite the fact that Jaguar has a 5.0-liter V8 to go along with what would seem to be a tailor-made rear-wheel-drive chassis. For what it's worth, one offer would have had Jaguar putting its name across an engine made by someone else, an option that was flatly turned down.
