1984 245DL with 4 spd o/d manual transmission, a/c, cruise and tow pkg. Don't let the mileage be a deterrent, this 245 is still has plenty left! It is in surprisingly good overall condition for the age. The engine is smooth and runs great. The body is solid and has just been painted. The interior is original and clean. It shows some wear but far less than most of the 240's we come across and far less than one would expect from a high mileage car. Even the map pockets are still intact, which never happens. There are three interior modifications - the third row seat has been removed, the radio has been replaced and an extra 12v socket has been added. Everything works - air, cruise etc. with the exception of the rear wiper as the blade is on back order. We have thoroughly inspected, serviced and test driven this Volvo. Volvo's Geneva-bound concept wagon looks sexy in a raincoat
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Volvo is set to complete its concept car trilogy at the next month's Geneva Motor Show with the debut of its Concept Estate, the followup to its Concept Coupe from the Frankfurt Motor Show and Concept XC Coupe from the Detroit Auto Show. We've been looking forward to its Swiss debut, and now some teaser images of the Concept Estate have been uncovered... on the website of a raincoat seller?
Yes, Swedish raincoat maker Stutterheim has apparently been commissioned by Volvo to build a high-quality car cover for its Geneva concept, and the fabricator's website shows off some of the details of the long-roofed design study. From what we can see, it looks like the Concept Estate is more shooting brake than traditional wagon. Also, it's brown. So basically, Volvo has built the ultimate car for auto journalists.
Joking aside, the images show off more than a few of the design traits we've seen on Volvo's two previous concept cars. A wide, rectangular grille and lowercase-B-shaped taillights are both noticeable in these teasers, but we can't see much more than that.

Volvo agrees to transfer tech to new parent Geely
Tue, 11 Dec 2012Following the acquisition of Volvo by China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in 2010, we definitely saw this news coming. The two companies have signed an agreement that will give Chinese automaker Geely access to key technologies developed by Volvo, and in turn, the deal could help the Swedish automaker lower its production costs.
As a part of the "technological cooperation agreements" signed by both companies, Automotive News China reports that Geely will be able to tap Volvo for three much-needed technologies, including the use of a midsize platform, Volvo's proven safety innovations and interior air quality systems. The latter two technologies are important to improve the crashworthiness of Geely's cars, along with helping isolate vehicle occupants from China's often severe air pollution. The report says that Volvo tech will likely be used on a premium car brand that Geely is expected to create.
Volvo, on the other hand, is to benefit from the "local market exploration experience and cost control experience" of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, which is technical way of saying that Volvo will be able reduce its costs by tapping into Geely's established supply chain.
