2005 VW Touareg Premium Package II V6 Nav/DVD/Sat Radio

Up for bid is my wife’s 2005 Touareg fully loaded with 156,381 miles. We bought it used 2 years ago when my wife wanted a larger vehicle. We do not smoke and no pets and have been in vehicle since we have owned it. We are getting ready to move in April and need another vehicle that gets better gas mileage similar to our TDI or close. The Reserve is set low at the trade in offer we recently received. Please note the vehicle will have a bit higher mileage than listed, I do drive it daily to work at about 16 miles round trip, other than work, we do not plan on driving any significant distance except if the winning bidder wants us to meet them at the airport. If the vehicle does not sell before our move, we will move with the vehicle and trade it in at our new location. The vehicle runs good and does have typical signs of wear for a vehicle this old and high mileage, however does have some issues listed below and pictured, please note before bidding.

*** Please note bid winner MUST arrange for pick up of vehicle “prior” to April 10th Vehicle is for local pick up here in Kevil, KY or arrangements can be made for  pick up if you fly into local airport Paducah, KY(PAH) or Nashville, TN (BNA)***

KNOWN ISSUES – Please read before bidding and note pictures

  • Intermittent Electrical problem – In the past 2 years we have had the car not start after sitting for a week, this happened 2 times in the 2 year period. . The battery was drained and the car troubleshot with no “smoking gun” or apparent problem found. The battery has been replaced. The car does have a “Parrot” aftermarket Bluetooth system installed that does not work, has not worked since we owned the vehicle and has been suspect to the problem, all though we could not get it to reoccur, even leaving it with the mechanic for a week to see if we could get the condition to repeat.

  • Emissions light is on as of a week ago, my local mechanic troubleshot and believes it to be a solenoid that is stuck associated with the charcoal canister in the emissions system. The location of this is behind the engine and will require a bit of labor to get to and further troubleshoot / repair. He estimated around $600 in parts and labor. Since we are looking at other vehicles and relocating shortly, we do not want to spend that kind of money on repairs. He stated that this should only affect the emissions and therefor, if you are in a State that requires Emissions Testing, it probably will not pass inspection and will require repair, otherwise the repair could wait.

  • Airbag Fault light is on – This has happened twice since we owned the vehicle and happened when we hit a good size pot hole. Mechanic did not find a lose connection or anything else with the system and the light cleared when reset. Just recently came back on.

  • Driver’s Head Rest has wear – appears previous owner may have been wearing a hair clip that wore a bit into the head rest.

  • Stain on speaker cover – Please note picture .

  • Privacy screen on rear passenger drivers side has small tear – see picture

VW readying CC Shooting Brake?

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

This was bound to happen. Volkswagen's relentless drive for big volume has the brand mining seemingly every niche it can find for additional sales worldwide. And with its CLS Shooting Brake, fellow countryman Mercedes-Benz has already shown that a wagon based off of a "four-door coupe" can look dead sexy and command extra dollars. So it follows that the Volkswagen CC (whose existence is all but directly attributable to the success of the original CLS sedan) will also get a load-lugging variant. That's according to the UK's Autocar, which notes that the five-door will come in the CC's next generation.
According to the report, the next CC will be available in front and all-wheel drive variants with the usual assortment of gas and diesel four-cylinders found in the Wolfsburg empire, with the possibility of a gas plug-in hybrid model, too. The rakish estate will ride atop VW's MQB architecture, a shorter variant of which is also found underneath the new Golf. The scalable chassis is set to spread like kudzu throughout the company's lineup, but the CC probably won't happen until after the launch of the next European-market Passat in 2015.
Will we get it in North America? Hard to say. Volkswagen sells the standard CC saloon here, but not in particularly large numbers, and when the company moved to a North American-specific Passat, it dumped the wagon variant. The traditional VW estate apparently continues to pick up sales momentum abroad, however, making the CC Shooting Brake a seemingly natural fit for buyers who still want the utility of a two-box form but can afford to sacrifice a bit of cargo room in the name of style.

Former Porsche boss Wiedeking won't face criminal charges over VW bid

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Hedge fund managers have been suing Porsche for years now, alleging that the car company lied about its intentions during its failed attempt to take over Volkswagen, a gambit that caused them billion in losses. Over the same period, authorities in Stuttgart built a criminal case against former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (above, left) and Chief Financial Officer Holger Härter (right), filing charges in December 2012. When those fund plaintiffs lost their most recent court case, one of the dimming lights in the dark and receding tunnel was that the criminal investigation might unearth more evidence about Porsche's actions that could help the plaintiffs in pending litigation.
Bloomberg reports that another light has gone out, though, with a Stuttgart court dismissing the market manipulation case before going to trial because, as a court spokesperson said, "there wasn't enough evidence backing up the charges." When prosecutors get the files back from the court, they have a week to decide to refile, but unless they've been sandbagging evidence that could bolster the case, the only lights at the end of the tunnel will be those welcoming Wiedeking and Härter back to the world of legally unencumbered men.

Auto sales in March and first quarter down nearly across the board

Wed, Apr 3 2019

Nearly every major automaker reported weak U.S. sales for March and the first quarter of 2019, citing a rough start to the year, but said a robust economy and strong labor market should encourage consumers to buy more vehicles as 2019 rolls on. GM, which no longer releases monthly sales figures, saw first-quarter sales fall 7 percent, with declines across all brands. Sales of Silverado pickup trucks fell nearly 16 percent and the high-margin Chevy Suburban large SUV dropped 25 percent. Ford also no longer releases monthly sales numbers, but is due to release its first-quarter sales figures on Thursday. According to industry data, Ford's sales fell 2 percent in the quarter and 5 percent in March. Ford representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FCA reported a 7 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and a 3 percent drop for the first quarter. All of FCA's brands dropped in March, except for Ram, which saw a 15 percent increase in pickup truck sales. "The industry had a tough first quarter, but with spring finally starting to show its face and continued strong economic indicators ... we are confident that new vehicle sales demand will strengthen going forward," FCA's U.S. head of sales, Reid Bigland, said in a statement. Toyota reported a 3.5 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and 5 percent for the first quarter, hurt by declining demand for its Corolla sedans and Camry vehicles. "While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment," Toyota said in a statement. Nissan posted a 5.3 percent drop in sales in March, and its first-quarter sales were down 11.6 percent. Honda and Hyundai bucked the trend. Honda's U.S. sales rose 4.3 percent in March and 2 percent in the quarter, while Hyundai's were up 1.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. Passenger-car sales suffered throughout the January-March quarter compared with the same period in 2018 as Americans continued to abandon them in favor of larger, more comfortable pickup trucks and SUVs, which are far more profitable for automakers. The battle for market share in the particularly lucrative large-pickup truck market intensified in the quarter, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram brand outsold the U.S.' No. 1 automaker General Motors' Chevrolet-brand trucks. The two automakers have both launched redesigned pickup trucks.
