DESCRIPTION
This final year 1974 Volkswagen Thing Acapulco Edition is finished in correct White and Blue with a matching Blue & White striped interior and bimini top! The body is in remarkable condition with the factory weld and rivet marks easily visible just about everywhere you look! Powered by an AM- coded 1600cc horizontally-opposed 4 cylinder with single Solex 34 PICT-3 carburetor and 4-speed manual transmission! Options include front & rear seatbelts, folding windshield with washer, 2-speed wipers, dual exterior mirrors, color-coded bumpers with front & rear bumper guards, 14” steel wheels with chrome hubcaps with newer whitewall tires, optional removable top frame, and heater/defrost! Accessories include Pioneer AM/FM/CD player with 3 speakers, blue rubber floor mats, cup holder that mounts in the ashtray frame, tire changing gear jack, spare tire, wrench, and tool bag!
This Thing is an extremely sharp example that is ready to be enjoyed immediately! It is showing only 60,481 miles on the odometer. Although the condition would certainly reflect this to be accurate, the St. Louis Car Museum does not have enough documentation to support an actual mileage claim. The exterior body has been repainted only once to brighten the overall appearance. The paint found under the hood & trunk remains all original. Please feel free to call with any questions or additional photo requests. Thanks for looking!
