Let me start by saying that in Ga a vehicle 1985 and older does not require a title. I purchased this truck on a clean Ga bill of sale which allows it to be tagged, insured, and driven. I am trying to go back to the owner before the previous to get the original title. But as of right now it will be sold with a clean bill of sale. Please check your state laws on age and titles before you purchase it. Now for the good stuff.....

This is a pretty clean little 1982 VW Rabbit pickup. It has the 1.6 diesel and 5 speed tranny. The body is pretty good but has some dings and pings. It has a small dent on the passenger side rear quater (please see the pics) It is sitting under original paint and it is showing its age. Great news. This is a southern truck and has no rust inside, outside, or upside down. The engine cranks easy and runs pretty good but does blow a little black smoke under a hard pull. The tranny works well and the clutch feels good but the shift linkage needs some love. It takes a few miles to get use to but once you figure it out your good to go but I would fix the worn parts. All the glass is good. Doors are good and windows work well. The clock still works. The interior is original but I do think the door panels have been replaced. I was told by the previous owner that the injector pump was recently rebuilt when he stopped driving it regularly a year or so ago. Tires are good. Brakes work well but their not ABS. Bed has had some sort  of spray in lining. The biggest thing about the truck (and I may be wrong) Im pretty sure its a factory ac truck. The compressor is gone but all the lines are still there??? I dont think many of these were ac equipped. Again I may be wrong. Long story short these are hard to come by and diesel are even harder. The truck is straight and runs pretty good. It has sat for a while but still had current tags on it and was driven from time to time. Please feel free to ask any and all questions before you bid. If you want to talk in person then shoot me your number and I will call ya. DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU PLAN TO BUY... If your local please feel free to come see it for yourself. I also have another injector pump and some vac pumps that will go with it. DONT OFFER ME SOME LOW BALL ASS OFFER. I will sell early but the price for that aint cheaper.

Shipping is up to the buyer. I will assist in loading unless it gets me fired. I can deliver locally if needed for a fee but it does run and drive...

Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept still makes us swoon

Fri, Nov 21 2014

We know, we know – this hot little guy isn't really new or anything. Volkswagen first rolled out the Golf R 400 concept in Beijing earlier this year, and since its debut, we've heard rumors that the German automaker might-perhaps-maybe-hopefully build the thing. Its showing here in Los Angeles simply marks the first time it's debuting in America, and honestly, we can't get enough. So here it is, again. Hello, Golf R 400 – we love you. And what's not to love? What starts as a normal Golf R gets better with a more aggressive appearance, big wheels, some tasteful neon yellow accents, and a whole mess of power. The original concept packed 395 horsepower from an overblown 2.0-liter turbo-four, though the most recent reports suggest a production version could produce over 400 hp. To keep it all in line, the concept has all-wheel drive. And inside, it's the same functional, comfortable Golf we've always loved. There's nothing left to say, really. We love this car, and you should, too. Check it out in the gallery above.

Weekly Recap: Mercedes, Volkswagen spend big as import automakers invest in North America

Sat, Mar 14 2015

Import automakers are on a building frenzy in North America as resurgent car sales have prompted companies to expand their manufacturing footprints to meet rising demand. That was evidenced this week when Mercedes-Benz announced plans to build a $500-million factory to produce the Sprinter commercial van, and Volkswagen confirmed a whopping $1-billion investment to expand its massive plant in Mexico. Meanwhile Jaguar Land Rover reportedly wants to build a factory in North America, but not for at least three years, and Hyundai is said to be expanding in the southern United States. The common thread in all of this expansion? Trucks, time and money. Mercedes wants to capitalize on the burgeoning work van segment in the United States and will break ground in 2016 on a 200-acre site in Charleston, SC, to build the next-generation Sprinter. The site will have a paint shop, body shop and an assembly line, and 1,300 people will be employed when production ramps up. Why do this, when Mercedes has immense van operations in Germany? It's cheaper to build in the US for the US market. Building locally allows Mercedes to avoid import taxes, forego a complex shipping process that involves partially disassembling German-built Sprinters and naturally, reduces the time it takes to deliver finished trucks to their buyers. "This plant is key to our future growth in the very dynamic North American van market," Volker Mornhinweg, head of Mercedes-Benz Vans, said in a statement. He was speaking about Mercedes and vans, but another German automotive giant, Volkswagen, had similar motives for its mammoth expansion plans in Puebla, Mexico. The added space and production capacity will allow VW to build a three-row version of the Tiguan, and provide another crossover for its US lineup that's light on SUVs. The current Tiguan has two rows. The factory will be able to churn out 500 units daily of the larger variant, and they will be sold in North and South America. It will arrive in the US in mid-2017, a spokesman told Autoblog. VW also plans to build another crossover, a midsize seven-passenger vehicle, at its growing Chattanooga, TN, site. "Localization has become key to safeguarding our competitive position on the global market, and manufacturing the Tiguan in Mexico will bring production closer to the US market," Michael Horn, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, said in a statement.

Volkswagen to add 50k jobs by 2018

Thu, 04 Apr 2013

Volkswagen still has its eyes set on becoming the top global automaker by 2018, and to get there, it's apparently going to need more boots on the ground. Automotive News Europe is reporting that VW is looking to increase its staff by 50,000 over the next five years - an increase of nine percent - which does not include an increase in its US dealer network.
According to the report, a majority of the growth will come from China where the automaker is also looking to double its production capacity in the same time frame. The Volkswagen Group is already expected to rival General Motors for the top sales spot in China this year, and such a rapid expansion in the region could make a good springboard for sales increases in other countries.
